  1. If ever they come up with the technology allowing males to become pregnant, I demand to have Javy'a baby!
  2. Can we just get the fake rally over with so I can go to bed and begin obsessing over game 5 for the next 2 days?
  3. The Cubs are certainly still in this, but they don't look like they want to be.
  4. It also gives us one hell of a bench- Soler, Contreras, Almora, Montero, Coghlan, LaStella, and of course, Mr. Jake Arrieta give us a lot of late inning options.
  5. There weren't exactly a lot of pinch hit opportunities by the time Montomery took the mound, and Edwards was the last available reliever. But I do think that our bench features enough pop that Joe should consider replacing LaStella or Coghlan with a fresh arm. Though I'd go with Joe Smith, who was absolutely phenomenal after returning from the DL.
  6. We're going to win. But if not, NSBB will be equal parts depressing and frightening for the 48 hours that follow.
  7. Despite a grim prognosis and an uphill battle, the Giants hopes hinge upon the kindness and compassion of John Lackey. Yeah, good luck with that.
  8. John Lackey vs. Giants: 3 games, 1-1, 19 IP, 2.37 ERA, 1.00 WHiP. John Lackey @ AT&T: 2 games, 1-1, 14 IP, 2.57 ERA, 1.214 WHiP.
  9. He's a veteran enough poster to know when to avoid NSBB like the plague. Or maybe he was watching the game at a local tavern, and when he treated the reactions of his fellow patrons to his patented brand of high-brow snark, it didn't quite go so well.
  10. Matt Moore is a decent enough, hard throwing lefty. Killing decent enough, hard throwing lefties is our thing that we do. There's also the fact that Joe Maddon managed Moore during his best years, so he's going to know him inside and out.
  11. How he handled Chapman was bad but outside of that, not sure. My blame goes 100% to the offense who scored 2 runs in 8 innings against an awful bullpen. My blame goes 100% to baseball, where horsefeathers happens and you can't win 'em all.
  12. Rizzo and Russell need to get their heads out of their asses. It's not like they're doing it on purpose. I stepped into a batting cage on medium and had trouble not hitting weak grounders every time. Imagine hitting against pro pitchers. But how can you be certain? You don't know what's going on inside their heads. HAVE YOU NEVER READ/SEEN EIGHT MEN OUT?!? Rizzo, Russell, Rondon, and Chapman's faces could be being circled in the team photo as we speak. Tommy LaStella's in on it too, but that's only because he overhead the other guys discussing the plan from the bathroom stall, so they had no choice but to let him in on it. horsefeathers, I need to go to bed.
  13. I'm not certain how mid-playoff series roster changes work, but as horrible as Rondon's been since coming back from the DL it wouldn't surprise me if he were back on the DL in favor of Cahill or Smith by game time.
  14. If it's a close game in the 7th, Soler has about as much chance of taking the field as I do.
  15. Yeah I'm still a little torn, but this year has been a big eye opener for me. The last few years they seemed to be building the organization around offense/home runs, and doing things like putting Schwarber and Contreras in the outfield just to get their bats in the lineup. At the same, they were more or less ignoring developing pitching, which I associated with defense. Then this year happens, and while we did more than enough offensively, I think most would agree the biggest factor of our dominance came on the pitching/defense side, and the .251 BAPIP stands out as the most staggering number. While I don't really care how much of it was a fluke, given that our offense is going to improve going forward, it really made me rethink my original 'horsefeathers defense' philosophy. That, and I'm still not convinced Heyward is totally broken offensively. Or that a very rusty Soler will give you much. But whatever, 2-0 lead and massive pitching advantage in Game 4...not going to freak out about this one. What it comes down to is that this is their must win, not ours. Bochy's the one wringing his hands, not Maddon.
  16. Jake also has a mighty fine career line at AT&T: 3-1, 2.08 ERA, 0.923 WHiP, 26/6.
  17. Is Heyward has a good game offensively even on the table anymore? :|
  18. Sometimes, you wake up, groggily check the news, expecting something of significance, and then you're hit with a ton of bricks. Seriously, 2016 has been a son of a bitch in terms of shockers: Bowie Prince Ali Baker Hornkohl Kinsella Yelchin Fernandez I feel I'm forgetting a few, but in terms of the completely unexpected, that's quite a roster.
  19. Clinching the NL is but a formality at this point. As a probable 100+ team, we shouldn't be afraid of an 85-87 win at best team fresh off an adrenalin rush, but I'd just as soon avoid too much excitement in round 1. So who we wanna play? My vote goes to the Mets, and it's not close. All their pitches are breaking down, and their offense isn't particularly frightening. The Cardinals would be most exciting, but been there, done that, and it would suck for them to take round 2. No reason to want to face the Giants. I'd hate for anything to come down to their cavernous hell of a ballpark with MadBum and Cueto on the mound for at least 3/5.
  20. Is anybody really anywhere for the long haul these days? The obvious core of the core is Rizzo, Bryant, and Russell. Rizzo's the poster boy, despite arguably being the least valuable of the 3, due to position, so he's the most likely. Bryant and Russell are both Boras guys, so while extending both is possible, it's going to be costly, and probably not come a minute before their respective free agency. If we were to extend all 3 of them, it's an easy $70mm, so after that, it depends on what we can afford.
  21. Has Zobrist had an extra base hit since the All Star Break?
  22. Hey, if these guys have some leftover suck in them, I'm all for them getting out of their system now rather than October.
