  1. He did. But gave up 3 runs in the process.
  2. Is there a downpour heading our way that I'm not aware of? Yes. It's called the back end of the Braves bullpen. Rumor had it it's pretty awesome.
  3. Jack Wilson still plays professional baseball.
  4. Words can't express how awesome Kerry Wood no longer is.
  5. LOL at Len and Bob trying to talk wrestling with CM Punk as though it's a serious sport.
  6. They're basically the Hip-Hop and the Pop Punk versions of Stone Cold Steve Austin.
  7. The D Cubs are clubbing someone 12-1. Szczur 1-3 with a 2B and a BB and Silva 2-4 with a HR. Loosen was solid through 5. Hayden Simpson in now. Scoreless inning so far.
  8. Why wouldnt your parents let you play baseball? Too busy I guess. I don't really know. I don't mean it to sound like it was a big deal to me growing up. I just remember being like 8 and wanting to play and getting shot down. I would've sucked anyway. Was always the small kid and my hand eye coordination sucked. They saved me from embarrassment. That didn't stop Ryan Theriot.
  9. I stick by my original stance that we would have been better off hanging on to him in hopes that he could boost his value by the deadline.
  10. Sarcastic? In the young month of May, Stewart's at .368/.429/.737. That's like Bryan LaHair numbers. Soto's been .294/.368/.647.
  11. There's a difference between being a moron in public and a moron in the private of your own home. Booing a guy after 2 pitches is really [expletive] stupid. It's a group mentality thing, mostly alchahol fueled. I'm sure that alchahols caused most of us to do things worse than booing. Addtionally, it wasn't just 2 pitches. It was the fact that he's cost us multiple games already due to poor control. I assure you that James Russell would not get booed after throwing 2 balls.
  12. But that wouldn't correspond with our new found Logans Run organizational philosophy.
  13. I have itchy idiot fingers Personally I don't boo, but you often hear the cliche real fans don't boo, when in reality real fans do boo. Loudly. Fake fans tune out until the team becomes good again.
  14. That's not the point. If you're going to saturate the board with posts, at least a few of them should be informed. Fine. I have been informed that we're building for the future and stocking long term assets. That information suggests that unless he's willing to accept a minor leagu deal, which I doubt due to the demand for relievers, especially of the with closing experience variety is not going to happen. Playing Scott Maine doesn't really do a lot for the future. Signing Gonzalez and trading him to a contender if he shows something does. Well you forgot to add the worthlessness and ignorance part, but what it comes down to for me is how much he'd cost vs. what we'd get for him. A lot of teams have lost closers, teams a lot closer to contention than we are. When he's ready to throw, he'll have an audience. If he looks good, he'll get offers that we could beat, but it probably wouldn't be worth it for us. Also, if it's a one year he's likely tochose a contender. I do think that we could use a lefty for the pen as Russel is becoming more of a late inning reliever who throws with his left arm than a left handed reliever, and Maine or Beliveau should get the call, although I'd be intrigued by Braddock for cheap.
  15. Creepy, oafish lummox or not, Bryan LaHair will likely spend his spring and summer getting more hot Wrigleyville ass than any of us could ever dream of, even if his pickup line is "LaHair like pretty lady good"

  17. I think we have a lot of guys who project to be solid back end starters, which is good if we have a strong 1-3 by the time they're ready.
  18. It takes less time for me to know that we may as well go with one of our internal options rather than sign a 34 year old recovering from knee surgery.
  19. I acknowledge that I was too busy to complete my Mike Gonzalez research project, but at the rate that closers are dropping like flies an strong left handed relievers are always in demand, if he throws for scouts and looks like he's worth a damn a contender is sure to pick him up, probably for more money than we'd pay him so that we can trade him for a fringe prospect in a few months.
  20. Ryan Braun hasn't learned yet and it's been almost 5 years.
  21. Bryan LaHair didn't mean to kill anybody. He just wanted to be loved and didn't know his own strength.
  22. What about against the Astros in Milwaukee? 9K 1 BB 3 H He has a 1.98 ERA 1.02 WHIP 14/32 BB/K in 41 IP. It would sure be nice to have that in the spot currently inhabited by Chris Volstad.
  23. So? Why is your opinion so significant in the situation? It certainly didn't do anything to prevent the giant incident. Why do you even care? It's FINE to think he's an idiot. People thought Clemens and Gibson were [expletive]...Guess how much that mattered or what tha did to stop them or the general activity? I wouldn't lump Bob Gibson in with Hamels or Clemens. While Gibson was a tough pitcher, who threw inside, he was NEVER called dirty or anything like that. He NEVER went head hunting. He didn't like batters who leaned over the plate and would brush them back. He didn't like for the other team to show off, he'd send a message. Opposing players respected him, feared him but they NEVER called him dirty. Remember when Gibson played the bulk of his career. It may not have been the 1950's, but it probably wouldn't have been a good idea for him to plunk dem white boys.
  24. Are we to agree with him because we like what he said or is it the dementia talking again? I'm surprised that he didn't add that we should send him to the Red Sox as compensation for Carpenter.
  25. I'm sure he's pitched for multiple teams by now, and if he looked anything like he did in '09 and before someone would have picked him up by now. Since he was with the Pirates, I sometimes forget that he was really good at one point, but so were a lot of former closers in their mid 30's that nobody wants anymore.
