    Bravo T Wood. He's been decent-good in pretty much every outting. I seem to remember he was knocked around in one of his earlier ones, but that's about it.

    If the plan is to sign a big free agent or 2, and we can get him without giving up too much, it would be a perfect pickup. He could be a right handed middle of the order guy to compliment Rizzo. Assuming the plan was to sign Upton, a 2-6 of Castro, Headley, Rizzo, and Upton looks pretty good, certainly in comparison with what we have now. Would 1 of Vitters, Szczur, and Lake plus a pitching prospect or 1 of Alcantara, Ha, Watkins, or a pitching prospect and Volstad as a throw in be enough, with a low level prospect coming our way as well?

    Obviously not the big story of the day,but we got some very good pitching in Iowa. Raley: 7 IP 4 H 1 ER 1/5 BB/K Jay Jackson 1 IP 1 H 0/3 BB/K. Tenn, not so good Jokisch: 10 R, 9 ER in 5.2 IP McNutt 2IP 2 H 1 ER 2/2 BB/k. Game 2 Beeler 3.1 IP 3 H 1 ER 1 K 3 K: not sure why he was pulled after 3.1 IP and 48 pitches Hatley 1.2 IP 2 H 2 ER 2 BB 1 K Rhoderick 0.2 IP 2 H 5 ER 2 H 2 BB 1 K In the double header, the Smokies lost both games, a combined 21-6. At least Lake went 3-7 with a 2B.

    As far in the rear view mirror as he is, I am pretty saddened by this. He was very well respected and liked by those around him. I guess it just goes to show that it's not just the d bags who use PEDs. Looks like in the end, we really did sell high.

    If money is an issue for the Braves, Dempster is the perfect match, assuming that the Cubs are willing to pick up as much of Dempster's salary as necessary to get the best possible package.

    That being the case, it should definitely be him, if for no other reason than to give him regular PT. Of course someone could develope phantom muscle tightness in the next 24 hours.

    The corpse of Adrian Cardenas is still in Chicago. I assume he's going down. I think that Cardenas is out of options and they'll probably want to hang on to him. If I'm wrong about the out of options part, he'd be the one to go. If not, they could either DFA or or trade for a PTBNL any of Baker, Valbuna, Mather, Johnson, or even a reliever.

    pretty sure the braves aren't that dumb Like the Rays, the Braves never seem to have a shortage. I could see it happening with several prospects from each team switching sides.

    Has their been any word on what's going on with this? Could they be waiting to introduce him and Almora together in a press conference to get Cubs fans excited about the future, especially those who don't realise that there's a baseball world beyond the 25 guys on the active roster?

    It better be a big wagon then. I'd have to assume that if he continues, he'll easily break our top 5 in 2013, maybe even a few Top 100 lists. Especially if he ends up in Peoria by the end of the season and hits there as well. Maybe even top 3 considering that Soler and Almora have yet to debut or even sign.

    The DSL has some nice ones, but this is really the first seasons I've followed it all that closely, so for all I know it's more attributed to the free swingers of the league than anything else.

    You are surprised that the Cubs didn't give up prospects to acquire a 33 year old player whose numbers have deteriorated and is a FA after next season? I'm not sure the Cubs would have had to give up prospects, considering all it took was a junkballer and a 25th guy /devil's advocate Even if we could have got him for say Coleman and DeWitt, I'd just assume put Vitters at 3rd, or if he's not ready by then, give Stewart another year. Every appearance of "just assume" should come with a three-day ban. Just mind blowing. I will admit that I know better and that was a stupid mental mistake.

    Now I'm sure that as usual, the answer is right in front of me, but what's the word again for a poster who posts things that he knows will piss of those who frequent the board the he or she is posting on, often for the purpose of getting a rise and more importantly the exact rections that he or she is hoping for? Whatever it's called, he'll eat well today. I guess that my only other question is since his screen name is "rawdog20", are their 19 other NSBB posters that beat him to the rawdog moniker?

    Man the Redsox got fleeced. If they could have gotten anything better, they would have. Normally, you'd expect them to give it until at least the deadline to try and boost his value, but they couldn't get him, A Gon, Middlebrooks, and Ortiz in the lineup at once, and Youk was the odd man out.

    7 IP 5 H 3 ER 1/7 BB/K is nothing to hang your head over, but with the Cubs offense behind you, more often than not it's good for an L. At least Soriano added a TVHR.

    Dude, he's coming up soon. Just because you aren't watching him hit a zillion home runs in a cub uniform right now this very instant doesn't mean that the cubs are being too patient with him. Jeez, give it a day or two. I'm not saying that he needs to come up yesterday. I'm saying that at this point, it's no longer considered rushing him and there's really no reason not to call him up.

    No, we got what we were going to get for Byrd. This being said, if anyone were really interested in a right handed 4th outfielder, Byrd would have a job by now. That being said, if we got something with a pulse for Neifi Perez, there's a market for everyone assuming you're ready to accept a lottery ticket, even if it is a $1 scratch off and the grand prize is $100.

    I know that I could sift through 41 pages to find this, but who was the mid-late round guy who was an extreme long shot to sign and said that he was 100% committed to some college ($ says hi)? Any word on him?

    Perhaps, however: Youklis has had an awful season, whereas Soriano is having his best in the past few years. Also, Boston is in contention after a rough start and might prefer to deal him for something to help them now. They could also chose to salary dump. Youklis does play a more valuable position though.
