  1. Turned this one off after the top of the 10th with full intention of a 10 inning loss. Pleasant surprises are always nice. And for the D Backs, must suck the wind out to come back from being down 6-0 at home only to lose in extras.
  2. When Junior Lake was called up, I question whether or not he was big league ready; I now question whether or not the big leagues are Junior Lake ready.
  3. They need to create a level above MLB; the challenge is simply not there for Junior.
  4. Here's a vid of the Tim Hudson injury everyone's Tweeting about; reminiscent of Ricky Weeks' injury vs. The Cubs a few years back, only Ricky was the baserunner. http://@Buster_ESPN: Here's video of the Hudson injury, passed on by a tweep. http://t.co/cwAgbAzFiw
  5. Please explain why you thought this made sense. Because he'll be over 30. Because if we start the season with several younger SP options in Shark, Wood, maybe Price, and then Vizcaino, Arrietta, Cabrera, Hendricks, Grimm as options to round out the rotation, as well as the next incarnation of Feldman or Maholm, he becomes a valuable trade chip in a weak FA market. For all the same reasons, Villanueva's another possibility. As I said, he wouldn't be agressively shopped, but a trade chip.
  6. He's one of SCS' favorites. Other than that, no, I know nothing other than he did well in the DSL when he was way too old for it. If by that you mean somebody that I've acknowledged.
  7. Assuming that Soriano and DeJesus are moved, we won't have much selling left by the offseason. Maybe Edwin Jackson and Schietholtz, but even they woudln't be agressively shopped.I suspect that virtually everyone else remaining on the roster by season's end will be guys who factor into the long term plans to some degree, and while guys like Wood and Russell to name a few should draw a lot of interest, it would have to be for something big rather than simply the best return possible. Basically, they won't be actively shopping them, but they won't refuse to answer the phones either.
  8. We can be baseball hipsters; I was into Junior Lake before it was cool.
  9. Forgot Candelerio; but he's so young and raw that I doubt he'd factor into the decision.
  10. We seem to have a plethora of potential long term 3B options: MLB: Valbuena (27), Lake (23) AAA: Olt (24) Vitters (24) AA: Villanueva (23) Baez (20) Boise: Bryant (21) Most of these guys can play other positions as well, but we already have our SS in Castro and a solid backup plan in Alcantara. Lake or Vitters could end up long term solutions as outfielders, and any one of these guys could bust. This being said, with that many potential high ceiling prospects at the same position, an in demand one at that, would it be wise to shop at least one? Valbuena is already coming up in trade rumors. He's 27 and under team control through 2016, he could also be a super sub and plan be if they give the 2014 job to Olt or Vitters and it doesn't work out. If somebody wants to overpay for him, great. If not, there's no reason to move him. Even if he is a super sub, better him than cycle through more Lillibridges and Alberto Gonzalez' The one that strikes me as the most disposable is Villanueva. He's had a nice bounce-back after a dreadful first month or so, but due to a cruel twist of fate, he's right back in the same position as be was with the Rangers; and blocked by the same guy no less. He's kind of in no man's land; assuming that Olt and Vitters are given the next cracks at 3rd, if they don't work out it could be Javy Time, and he'd be passed right over. Wouldn't bring back much of anything alone, but if a multiplayer deal were on the table, he's certainly the type that could be involved to bring back a better return.
  11. I remember how sad it felt when Cubs fans were melting down over narrlowly missing out on a 35 year old journeyman reliever. In retrospect, he could have been the difference between an above .500 team and this.
  12. You're wasting your gift on Rondon. He isn't going anywhere. Like Lendy, they'll let him suck away the rest of the season and then dump him in A+-AA.
  13. As long as Junior Lake can keep hitting in the .500s and OPSng a gazillion for the foreseeable future, it all evens out.
  14. In all honesty, I thought that Alexei was 45, not 31, but clearly the White Sox don't get how being a seller works.
  15. Surely someone will give them a better offer. Right? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVzooudRrQU&sns=em
  16. 4 BB in .2 IP is no easy task, even if your name is Carlos Marmol. That's as many guys as Daury Torrez walked in 2012.
  17. Bravo bhogg! Most of the posters here have no clue who those guys were but you forgot a couple more busts.. Eric Duncan and David Parrish should slot right between Taylor and Kevin "no" Maas. I still want D'Angelo Jimenez and Jackson Melian. Brien Taylor is far from forgettable if for no other reason than the catalyst behind his ultimate downfall. Also, to anyone who understands these four words; Topps. Stadium. Club. Dome.
  18. If all the Cubs can get is a mid level prospect while eating his entire salary, then we should just keep him and hope that somebody becomes desperate enough to give us something of value. If not, we just keep him until the contract expires, the engine drops out, or somebody comes for his job. As I've said before, whether Soriano's playing for the Cubs, somebody else, or nobody at all, the Cubs will be paying at least 95% of his salary, so it may as well be to play for us. His production is not something that can be pulled off the streets.
  19. Sad day for the Garza trade; not only was he traded, but Rosscup had himself an abnormally bad 0.1 inning.
  20. I'm thinking that Boise was his intended starting point, but since it took so long for him to sign, they wanted to let him shake off some rust.
  21. How's Betances stock doing these days? It doesn't seem like that long ago when the Yankees would have just as soon pulled the phone out of the wall than take calls on him.
  22. Some scouts question whether or not Garza will even be living by the time the 3013 season rolls around. Hopefully by then, the Epstein plan will be closing in on fruitation.
  23. I really hope that we're getting a respectable player return rather than a few mil coupled with a 26 year old AAA reliever or 2.
  24. So where do these guys slot into our to 30? Olt must slot somwhere into the top 10. Do any of the others crack the list?
  25. So where does Olt slot into the list? Does Edwards crack it? Ramirez, once he's officially made PTBNL?
