  1. Tony Campana was 1-5 with 5 BB yesterday, giving a very lopsided .300/.462/.300 line in his 20 big league games.
  2. This is, like, your 8th post in 48 hours mentioning Olt. Why? I don't know. But he did go 2-4 yesterday with a 2B and HR. So Mike Olt, Mike Olt, Mike Olt. But in all seriousness, unlike the rest of the cord prospects, he's not a guy that we entered the season counting on for the future, but if we're to figure things out, he's be some incredibly savory gravy, so watching him become a reverse Bryan LaHair has been frustrating.
  3. Rubi Silva has 4 walk in his last 10 games vs. 16 on the entire season. If he can do some more of that, he could become interesting quickly.
  4. After another Olt for 2, Mike's Iowa line is .119/.198/.219. Can't imagine what it would be if not for that one game where he had his offensive explosion. He's like the opposite of one of those guys who torch AAA in their 3rd shot.
  5. Rock Shoulders hit his first home run since Darius Rucker called himself Hootie.
  6. Why? Because they'll actually play That was more a why bother with him than a why's he starting at KC.
  7. Had somebody told me back in March that the Cubs best players would be Nate Schierholtz, Dioner Navarro, and Donnie Murphy would be the Cubs best players, I'd have said we probably won't be very good.
  8. According to Fangraphs, BA, BP, and everyone else that counts, Javy Baez leads the entire organization in awesomeness, and it's not close.
  9. Even if Olt doesn't return from Oblivion, it's still a very nice package.
  10. Long enough to be named to the NL All Star team and later shipped to Japan? In all seruousness, my guess that he's been a career journeyman utility guy, he's long since accepted that he's never going to get the big contract, so he's just saying to hell with it and swinging for the fences, catching pitchers who see him as an easy out off guard, doing so in hopes that some big league team will offer him even a 1 year guaranteed big league deal, or at least a Japanese team. According to BBR, he's only had 3 seasons earning big league money, between 400,000-525,000. Even if someone gives him like 1 MM, in baseball money, its nothing, but in reality it's a small fortune, especially if you're smart enough to invest it wisely.
  11. Have you just been catching up on the last year of activity? Yesterday it was talking about how well Vitters has played since his return, today's it's about the weight Vogelbach lost a long time ago. In related news, I'm starting to think that Hayden Simpson wasn't a great pick. Considering that post you just made about Jackson, this is great. I'm clinging to hope, dammit.

  13. the book thread is done, your moment is over Sadly, I'm beginning to think that the same is true for Jackson and Olt :( Re: BJax......just beginning? This dude has been terrible for a while now. Yeah, but I was still hoping. He's made that virtually impossible.
  14. If we can get him without giving up any of our top 4 prospects for him, absolutely. Not saying it's likely, but who knows. Truth is that in the event that Castro and Rizzo don't come back, and we probably shouldn't pen Olt into our future plans, we may be relying on them to anchor our offense. And I am aware that it's very unlikely that they all pan out.
  15. To somebody who's been watching the games as of late, how has Castro been looking at the plate over the course of his free fall?

  17. When the Cubs give you lemons, make lemonade. And as you drink it, tell youself that Javy Baez could be under a year away.
  18. But hey, we're back in position for another Top 5 pick. Isn't that supposed to the goal every year?
  19. Yup. The only W was the I Cubs, powered by nobody that matters.
  20. Couldn't find such a thread. So- Big 4 Sports Mount Rushmore: MLB-Babe Ruth NBA-MJ NHL-Wayne Gretzky So who represents the NFL?
  21. Still doesn't explain why they'd give up even a PTBNL Raise your hand if at the start of the season, you thought we'd get better returns for Scott Hairston and Tony Campana than David DeJesus.
  22. You can throw out as much rationale as it takes to make you feel good, but if no useful player return comes out of this, it's stupid. For 6.5 MM, a guy who could actually help us win in 2014 rather than hope and pray that Brett Jackson remembers how to play baseball would be a very wise move.
  23. Have there been any recent updates on Almora?
