  1. Maybe it was because he was the only one on the team who put forth any kind of effort.
  2. Do yourself a favor and dont bother taking any of what they say to mean anything. All that site is good for is rumors and plastering whatever roto world says on their main page. If they still have last years 200 top free agent up, take a look at their predictions, and you'll find that maybe they got 6 right.
  3. I think someones been listening to too much Mike North.
  4. Keep Wood and Ward. Also keep Prior wround for one more season. They've sure as hell put enough money into him. Also, Keep Jones. We already have him, and I cant see us being able to get enough in return to make it worht moving him.
  5. These guys know absolutely nothing. last year, the Cubs were slated to sign Gary Mathews and Jeff Weaver. I believe Soriano was slated to go to the Angels. I think they just pick names out of a hat. Do they bother explaining what use the Cubs have for Torrealba?
  6. Another team nit to overlook is the Pirates. They're on big bat and a few bullpen arms away from making a splash.
  7. Sorry, I just dont see it. They wont be able to compete for the big free agents. their bullpen is horrible. Their starting pitching is mediocre at best, and Sheets has proved he cant stay healthy. They will definitely provide some healthy competition, but 90 wins is stretching it.
  8. I'll watch the WS, but probably not either LCS. It will be fun for the Red Sox or Indians to show one of these expansion teams what a real team looks like.
  9. Milwaukee will be exactly the same next year. EXACTLY the same. You can bet on the Astros and Cards bein retooled however, so hopefully we'll make a few improvements too. Tejada would be a good start.
  10. At least the D Rays dont have us beat. Yet.
  11. In my lifetime, they're have now been 5 Cubs playoff teams, in which the post season teams fall into 2 catagories. Memorable 1984 2003 Unmamorable 1989 1998. 2007 definitely falls under unmemorable.
  12. Why? did Soriano and Ramirez tell him when they signed their massive contracts that they only planned on trying through September, and then theyd half ass their way through the next 3 games? He put together a playoff team. Nothing he did caused this collapse.
  13. If we really want Tejada, and he is obtainable, wrere looking at trading away at least Marshall, Theriot, one of Veal/Gallagher/Samardzia, as well as a few other prospects, and I wouldnt be surprised if they demanded Pie. Id do it in a heartbeat. Miggys signed through 2011. That Orioles team has a lot of holes to fill, and especially in the division they're in, and they're better off with a host of major league ready young players than one big name. It still burns me up inside that it was less then 2 years ago that we could have had him stright up for Prior. I wonder if theyd still accept that deal?
  14. Me too. But then again, I thought Corey Patterson, Matt Murton, Ryan Theriot, Mike Fontenot, Felix Pie, and Angel Pagan were the real deal, so what do I know.
  15. I dont hear you dissagreeing with it either.
  16. I dont understand why people keep saying this. The Cubs have one of the better offenses in the NL. They have one of the better rotations in the NL. They have one of the better bullpens in the NL. So why cant they come together as a cohesive unit? If you cant come together and form Voltron all you have is a bunch of goofs riding around in robot lions.
  17. I guarantee we'll be hearing a lot about it was a fun ride, and we went from worst to first. This team wasnt built for a fun ride. It was built to go all the way, not collapse when it counts. As for worst to first, that arguement might hold up had this been the same team as last year, but again, $300,000,000 later, the expectations were a bit higher. This team shouldnt be proud of themselves. They gave one of the worst post season performances in recent memory. They didnt come to play ball. Bottom line. Time to figure out the ownership situation so Hendry can squander his money on more garbage.
  18. Tejadas a better fit and more realistic. Send Theriot, Marshall, and a hand full of prospects to Baltimore. The O's and Tejada mutually want to go seperate ways.
  19. Not sure I can agree with that. No I'd much rather have made the playoffs than not. So hypothetically, who did we trade for Tejada? Will Ohman and Ronny Cedeno?
  20. Yeah, but we still have to see most of these other guys in Cubs uniforms for too many years to come.
  21. I dont suppose they put another opt out clause in his new contract.
  22. Wheres Cedeno when we need him? Theriots wearing out his welcome and quick.
  23. I love how Jones just almost misplaced a routine fly ball and when he caught it [expletive] Stockton sounded like it was the play of the century.
