  1. go, tailgate, enjoy yourself. wear a Cubs sweatshirt.
  2. kids slept the whole flight, then went to bed at normal time. Everything seemed fine until 2 hours later and then it's been a shitshow ever since. I'm probably just over 7 hours the past 2 nights.
  3. First Sunday noon game in a month. I used to look forward to those things. I think Detroit can clinch the division this week, and they are favored by a touchdown so they should be able to do it easily. What new embarrassment will not surprise us this week? Who knows? Who cares?
  4. I thought they said they were interested but Manny hasn't decided about his own future yet.
  5. they need a quick route runner type, but fast is just a short hand for that. Speed alone won't work, but I think it is a very important thing for them to look at given the lack of speed everywhere else on offense.
  6. private jet use is typically referenced in terms of hours. You don't buy a ticket from New York to Puerto Rico, you use X hours. Ok that makes sense. Thanks. The private plane part went right over my head. With his family in Atlanta I'm guessing this will make it quite easy for him to fly his family to Arizona and back every spring, and then to Chicago when weather warms up/school is done, and then back again in the fall. That would leave him with an opportunity to use it for an offseason vacation as well as fly his wife up for potential playoff games.

  8. Jesus man. The point was that some people fear that allowing Emery to fire Trestman means he gets to stay and hire the next guy, thus keeping his job for another 2+ years. So they don't want Emery to fire Trestman. The point was Emery can fire Trestman today, stay through the end of the season with an interim in charge, and it would do nothing to prevent them from also overhauling the front office.
  9. It's quite possible Emery is the wrong guy. That is besides the point. Huh? Keeping Cutler the next couple years does not prevent you from finding a great QB sometime in the next couple years. Letting him go does not make it easier to find a great QB. You work with Cutler now and keep looking for ways to improve, including potential Cutler replacements.
  10. I was wishing and expecting better but definitely had it in my mind that disaster was potentially on the horizon. Lots of volatile players and a coach that nobody respects made me think things would go really well, or if they went bad, it would be horrible.
  11. Brad Biggs ‏@BradBiggs · 38m38 minutes ago NFL announces #Bears have selected Jay Cutler as team's Man of the Year, putting him in running for Walter Payton Man of the Year award.
  12. My thought on trestman is his future employment is in flux. I want him fired now to be sure he's gone. If he stays something may happen to ease the pressure on him. (Cutler concussion) If he's fired he can't come back. If emery hires an interim then there is nothing to prevent a front office overhaul in January. I agree with everything here, but the last. Not sure how having an interim necessarily makes a full overhaul more likely. I didn't say it made it more likely. I said it is still possible to do it.
  13. I wouldn't be surprised if Emery was gone, and at this point I think that's what I'm rooting for, but I really think they might give him one more coaching hire. He's gonna get a high draft pick to play with too. I'm rooting for an overhaul but would live with Emery getting one chance to fix his mess.
  14. If that anything is a 3rd round pick they sure as [expletive] better not let him go.
  15. I still wonder if that was done on purpose to some extent. Some might think it is a career killer, but the perception around the league is that Cutler is a coach killer and I am sure that more than a few football people would be fine with a coach doing what Kromer did specifically because it is about Cutler. Emery talked about not liking the way the apology happened, because this wasn't a story until Kromer tearfully apologized.
  16. I think it's 80/20 he's gone. This is unprecedented embarrassment for the Bears. You said you were listening to B&B yesterday, right? I caught the tail end of something that made it sound like Boers was convinced Trestman was gone. Did he say that? B&B were convinced Trestman was gone after the Packers game too. I think he's gone, but I don't believe B&B know much more than we do. I believe it was Boers talking about "his guy" who is convinced Trestman is gone but that Emery is on the same leash (or similar object). I took it for meaningless "I have sources" talk, but it is another data point.
  17. That article is light on the details now with the account deleted. Huh? The damning Tweets are all there. Yeah, not sure what else brandon wants

  20. I think likely back is inaccurate
  21. Not anywhere near is an odd claim. I get you can read between the lines a little on the statement but "we support Marc in his decision." makes it pretty clear, at least in regards to any immediate change. It was pregame, they weren't going to fire him then. My comment about sooner was related to trestman being unavailable to media this week. Perhaps the pathetic mnf effort accelerated events.

  23. Wishful thinking or confusion? http://www.chicagofootball.com/2014/12/15/chicago-bears-general-manager-phil-emery-breaks-silence-on-aaron-kromer-comments/az3wmc2/ This article uses "respect" a lot. Talks about the system and doesn't mention disagreement (which IMO would be silly to say unless you were saying it to announce his termination). I don't know what Chicago football is but looks like the writer presented it differently than the Trib guys that mentioned it pregame. They were less willing to treat it as ho hum speak but rather read between the lines with a fm talking about the coach deciding not to punish.
