  1. well it was kind of ridiculous that he kept hammering the point home, calling people blind and called my response classless. And then doubled down on everything. It wasn't some measured rational response, it was a this is a horrible move by the cubs I can't believe they are doing it and that I am the only one who sees how horrible it is.
  2. Absolutely not. Home is the best place to watch a game focus and comfort-wise. A bar is probably the worst, though it is extremely fun to be around people when something legitimately awesome happens. Being actually at the game is great for the reactions and being a part of that scene, but unless you have headphones, you miss a lot on the broadcast or TV. I've never understood the desire to listen to the broadcast of a game you are attending. I can do without all of that and if something historical happens be happy to download it later.
  3. well actually..., 9th inning. But still that would be hell.
  4. It's baseball. The most likely outcome of any at bat is a boring out. IDGAF. This is fun and enjoyable to anticipate and will be even more delightful to witness.
  5. okay we will be sure to stop being excited thanks for reminder Classy as always. Wait, I'm sorry. Are you seriously acting as though that was a classless response to your insistence that people are blind?
  6. okay we will be sure to stop being excited thanks for reminder
  7. if rizzo is swinging it

  9. I've long railed against the idea of multi year contracts for middle relievers, meaning the dime a dozen guys who do their job well but do not dominate. You absolutely should go after and spend money on the studs though. Then fill out the rest of projects and hope a few work.

  11. cutler cleared to play, and fox is talking up what a good teammate he was while injured
  12. oh he's been at the party, don't worry about that [tweet] [/tweet]
  13. But he's not a pitcher or a running back so the need to be cautious is not that extreme. He has been cleared medically. He will almost certainly be used strictly as a bat. And the dude has been out for over 6 months now. That injury was a long time ago. It's not like they rushed to get him back on the September roster or anything. He's going to be a threat. There was a theory that all that hubbub was strictly an act to distract from the game 6 tension, and they may still end up being the case. But if they actually do use him, I would not consider it risky or all that crazy.

  15. Well so long as the decision is being made for objective reasons so are we not giving the benefit of the doubt to this staff and management team?
  16. Angel Hernandez went from behind the plate to RF, so if that holds he's at the end of the line and available behind the plate for game 7. Does the Replay ump jump the line? no idea how it works other than how they referenced that somebody who was in the booth was on the field for game 6 and that angel h went from HP to RF.
  17. probably not for organizations that are still competing at MLB level. The point is to limit the number of players teams can send there so all teams can send players, it doesn't hurt to allow exceptions for actual LCS and WS teams to rehab guys. That's not a slippery slope since it is by definition limited to 4 and then 2 teams.
  18. Rain Thursday too. That will be interesting... Thursday's a travel day though. the suggestion being that a rain out wednesday won't be able to be made up Thursday, which would affect when games are played in chicago (not to mention the usefullness of Jon Lester)
  19. Great Joe West will be here to make sure we know that Joe West is an umpire in the WS. Joe West. Joe West. Also, it looks kind of like Game 1 at least will be rained out. Which way do they rotate? In other words, will West be behind the plate at any time in the series? Angel Hernandez went from behind the plate to RF, so if that holds he's at the end of the line and available behind the plate for game 7.
  20. Not to mention, choose reading threads on a message board over watching.
  21. My wife has a work thing Tuesday and won't be home until after the first couple innings. So we're having the babysitter put the kids to bed. The question is do I go straight to a bar from work and wait until they are asleep before going home, or sit in my living room and ignore the kids as they go to bed like some kind of Mad Men dad?
  22. Maybe I'm just old and dead inside, or maybe I'm haunted by the fact that we were bad in 2012, but this stuff just doesn't feel as transcendent as it did when I was a kid or even in my 20s. If they win in game 5 while I'm out doing other things, I'll check my phone and see that they won and be happy. I'll watch all the replays and buy some merchandise and read the threads. Hell, if any of the games I'm home for turn into a five-hour extra inning monstrosity, I might just wait till the morning for the end of those too. I'm sorry for your loss. Of your soul.
