  1. I married into a philly sports family, and an uncle is really excited to take us to this game. I asked my wife about backing out of it and she said no, we have to go. To be fair, he's one of the ones that hates trump and backed off his anti-kneeling stances after I questioned the reasoning as gently as possible. He also has a boat and lets us use it.
  2. Yeesh The gould thing was all about saving money, right? They were tanking, knew they were bad and didn't see the need in paying top dollar for a kicker.

  4. so GD excited that I get to go to this game...
  5. Elway has gone from Manning to a series of crappier puds and he thinks the problem with the team is they are too soft and the OC isn't good enough.
  6. Lovie (autotranslates to livid) was good but left a lot to be desired and the bears were right to move on after nearly a decade, but did a horrible job replacing him. Lovie was so much better than some give him credit for, though.
  7. I have a lot of concerns about mitch and at the same time think they are unfair because of how awful his coaches and teammates are, which doesn't make me any more confortable about his future.
  8. It's really somewhat amazing how good this team is at losing. Blowout losses. Close losses. Comeback losses. Predicable losses. Unexpected losses. It takes all kinds.
  9. Watch that hand mrs arrieta
  10. Oh geez Am I wrong? How many times do people to post "Oh look, ANOTHER QB was signed who is worse than Kaepernick!!!" before they realize that it's just not happening. It's not even about Kaep anymore. Oh boy
  11. There is one unrecognizable face in the group, the rest are/were fairly prominent Cubs.
  12. there's a plethora of goobers working in various special assistant roles across the league. And maybe he'll get a job with Derek Jeter's bumbling Marlins, but that doesn't negate the fact that most of the MLB GM class has moved well beyond that superficial thought process.
  13. He's 19th in pitching fWAR over the last 2 seasons despite missing 6 weeks this year, won the ERA title and finished 2nd in the Cy Young voting in 2016 and is just hitting his 1st year of arbitration meaning he has 3 years of control. His career ERA is 2.94 over 600 innings and his career postseason ERA is 2.88 over 10 starts, including giving up 1 ER combined in pennant and world series clinching games in 2016. GMs don't care about his name value, he gets tons of praise for his ability to locate and inducing weak contact not to mention comparisons to Maddux for his cerebral approach to pitching. He would get a lot if offered for a trade. I never said he wouldn't get a lot if offered in a trade. I just mean that I don't think most GMs think of him as an option if they're hoping for Archer/Stroman. Obviously, every team would love to have him. Most fans probably wouldn't think much of him, but most of the MLB GM class is largely beyond the Jim Hendry era of thinking.

  16. Is there another melo or is the famous one really still somebody teams would want to sign in 2019? How old is he, 35?
  17. when is his contract up? He's 29, so I wouldn't be throwing him out the door. the knack for injuries is truly a concern, but I feel like there are bigger issues on that line namely the tackle positions. Sitton, Whitehair, Grasu, Long are three solid guards (c's) for a rotation. I wouldn't be nec targeting one before the 3-4 round, but depth cant hurt. I wouldn't at all mind a 1)tackle 2)wr or 1)wr 2)tackle sequence to our draft, however. He's signed through 2021, but he's an $8m+ cap hit right now and won't come close to living up to it in back to back seasons. He's probably safe for 2018, but they have to be looking to bring in younger depth this offseason. Yes, tackle is also a concern, and that's part of what I meant by "even with everything else going on". You can't really count on him to give you $8.5m in production in 2018, and the chances of him making it to 2019 as a viable $9.6m player are not good.
  18. Even with everything else going on with this organization, it's probably time to start thinking about how to replace Kyle Long, who is about to turn 29 and has shown a knack for getting injured. The offensive line has not shown the ability that many expected them to have this season, and I can't imagine they end this year as anything more than an average unit. With no skill position talent and an unsettled QB situation, this group has been a big disappointment.
  19. Papa himself blamed protestors and a lack of leadership from the league office for failing to stomp down the protest movement for their declining sales in their most recent quarterly conference call. These calls are used by execs to explain their quarter and are almost universally bland. I assume his board and a lot of lower execs were not happy.
  20. I am, but im pretty much everything jersey claims to be, what imb doesn’t seem to be but nothing that sofa really is. Which is to say im not really who i am this makes me wonder what kind of horsefeathers I've claimed to be

  22. I would not be surprised if they were hoping for a mutual agreement to terminate with a partial buyout of the 2018 season. Maybe they know he's miserable and wants to be done, but don't want to be on the hook for the whole thing. They will be competing with the Giants for their next head coach, though.
