i feel like this is low-key like the peak of the lester being unable to throw to bases situation. no matter what the scouting report says, it’s just too weird and different to run to the next base when the pitcher is holding the ball and looking at you, or to throw every pitch like it is 0-2 regardless of the count. But pitchers are generally able to pitch around other sluggers...with the "unintentional intentional walk". With Javy, it'd be even better because he'll be swinging at those a good amount of the time. I mean...I'm not really complaining. Pitchers can pitch around Harper or Trout in part because they know those players generally won't swing, and therefore won't hit, balls that are off the corner. Javy will swing at those, and can do some damage with those. Baez swings at a hell of a lot more pitches outside the zone than both guys, and actually makes contact with those pitches more frequently than Harper, while making contact at a lower rate than Trout, but not as much as you'd assume considering how much more frequently he swings. A pitcher can nibble and unintentionally walk normal guys. But if you want to unintentionally walk Javy, you really need to put some effort into it.
