  1. That's some hometown cooking. That was a steal. No it wasn't. He was picked off and an error caused him to be safe and advance.
  2. he bonded with the whole clubhouse because they all just picked on darvish to his face and Yu's translator told him they were laughing at the brewers trades #groupthink
  3. i feel like this is low-key like the peak of the lester being unable to throw to bases situation. no matter what the scouting report says, it’s just too weird and different to run to the next base when the pitcher is holding the ball and looking at you, or to throw every pitch like it is 0-2 regardless of the count. But pitchers are generally able to pitch around other sluggers...with the "unintentional intentional walk". With Javy, it'd be even better because he'll be swinging at those a good amount of the time. I mean...I'm not really complaining. Pitchers can pitch around Harper or Trout in part because they know those players generally won't swing, and therefore won't hit, balls that are off the corner. Javy will swing at those, and can do some damage with those. Baez swings at a hell of a lot more pitches outside the zone than both guys, and actually makes contact with those pitches more frequently than Harper, while making contact at a lower rate than Trout, but not as much as you'd assume considering how much more frequently he swings. A pitcher can nibble and unintentionally walk normal guys. But if you want to unintentionally walk Javy, you really need to put some effort into it.

  10. That was Bryant and he already relapsed. There was a July 15 article claiming he hoped to do a minor league rehab starting in one week (which would have been a week ago). He did a sim game a week after that article, July 22 and was supposedly set to do another July 26. But 6 days later this article game out. https://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/cubs/cubs-no-hurry-get-drew-smyly-back-mound So he's not close.
  11. You want a transparent joke at the brewers expense? I can get you a transparent joke at the Brewers expense. [tweet] [/tweet]
  12. Maybe. But I don't blame them for going this route when I don't think they had a lot to offer other teams in trades without getting into MLB depth. You have 6 starters and like 9 bullpen arms if you include Smyly. Find 12 capable pitchers out of those 15. hell, might as well go with a 15 man pitching staff.
  13. keep the space available for Doolittle
  14. He's been dominant in June and July is what I've read.

  16. Is there really anything to gain from making a show of trying to trade away your franchise player? I just feel like if they were really gonna trade him, they'd have started this last week or something...let some bidders really push the price higher. Putting him on the block this late, with a huge price tag...it just doesn't feel very serious. I'll probably be proven wrong in a few hours....I'm terrible about trade predictions. There isn't actually a block where you put up your items for auction at a certain time. We may have just heard about this in the media yesterday, but it has been mentioned for at least the past week. If anybody had any interest in trading for Harper, they probably would have at least made inquiries in advance. Not to mention, Washington is only 5.5 out of a wild card spot and they know they had to wait for the last possible minute to actually pull the trigger, if they pull the trigger. They've lost 2 in a row and if they won those 2 maybe they don't even think about it.
  17. He's not going anywhere. The Nats are gonna hold out for too much. I think they're just doing this so they can tell fans "well we tried". Is there really anything to gain from making a show of trying to trade away your franchise player?
  18. The answer was mike piazza full stop
  19. You shouldn't be on the Bears side. They are the ownership class and suck balls.
  20. multiple goobers have retweeted it so I keep seeing it and wanted to annoy others
