  2. there's also no reason to believe he will have future seasons full of nagging injuries either. however, his general dickheadedness is enough to consider trades. every ballplayer ever has had nagging injuries and russell in particular has never not had nagging injuries
  3. even if his struggles are due to nagging injuries there's no reason to think he'll go through future seasons without nagging injuries that lead to struggles.
  4. If they win 94 games but annoy us while doing it, can we put an asterisk next to it? 94*
  5. Would you put Detroit x 2 in the garbage category? I thought Tampa was going to be garbage, will be interesting to see if Fitzpatrick is still QB in week 4. No I wouldn't put any division game into garbage territory yet. Detroit looked awful in week 1 and to start week 2, but they still have weapons and an ability to use them, and the Bears play them twice in 12 days. It will be extremely difficult to sweep them.
  6. If the Bears can't beat Seattle this weekend, there is a very good chance they open the season 1-5. They still have 3 garbage teams on the schedule, in AZ, BUF and NYG. This game is big, big, big if they have any hope of contending this season.
  7. Corbin may be good, but he's not untouchable
  8. Someone has had to have posted the Bye Bye Birdie gif with sal before. I’d post it but can’t get a direct link to it on my phone I've made the Sal Romano posts in the past, but it may have been on twitter.
  9. yea. the sandwiched day game at DC with the threat of a hurricane w/o any decency from the MLB front office, I can see Maddon wanting to let them have some fun. And maybe Joe never intended him to pitch anymore. Quit defending Maddon. He made a stupid baseball decision that could affect the rest of the season. Rich, this is
  10. Met another Cubs fan walking the dog tonight. He tells me word from home is everybody wants Maddon gone. I let him smoke some pot with me.
  11. Me, for one. good for you kirkjian! (Voice cracks like a 12 year old boy)Thanks man(/voice cracks like a 12 year old boy)
  12. Wrong. 21 pitches is not just 21 pitches when it is spread out across multiple innings. He had to warm up and come in the game, then pitch. Then he had to sit and wait, warm up again and pitch another inning. At this point he's done. He should not come back. But Joe tried to make him sit through another long inning, then planned on having him warm up and pitch again. It was a stupid risk. They should have gone for the runs. They should not have risked their pitcher's arm by bringing him back for a third inning. That alone was reason enough to make the change, but bases loaded with 1 out is absolutely time to take him out.
  13. Yep, right now I'm leaning toward taking the yellow line in skokie to the red line and taking that to roosevelt. Hope to be ready to leave around 5:30. Then maybe an uber home Soldier Field Express may be an option - https://www.transitchicago.com/bus/128/
  14. Can confirm; my dad and uncle repeatedly bemoan why Almora isn't playing more AND why isn't he always leading off, and it ALWAYS comes back to them talking about his batting average. the play almora contingent on twitter was an all ages show
  15. well, they talked about the need to treat him differently than typical relievers and not pitch him in back to back situations and then Joe went out and pitched him in back to back situations multiple times the first month of the season. And I know there was at least one time when he had him warming for what would have been three consecutive days. He was probably always destined for injury, but Joe didn't use him like a guy you were trying to keep healthy.
  16. Joe is known for keeping players healthy? How does a manager keep players healthy? How is Joe at all to blame for anybody's health? He's done quite a bit to keep people fresh, with the possible exception of overworking a bullpen arm or two. He can't help it if dudes get banged up. Okay, that's joes fault
