No, you need to grow up. Also, it's fun to have a team that buys talented players. It's not fun to have them choose profit over said talented players.

Every single time they’ve wanted a player, they’ve gone over the top making a pitch to him. They’ve never once played hard to get, because that would be dumb. Why can’t it be they are making an over the top pitch while also playing it down publicly? We never really knew of the Lester and Heyward interest until it got close and after the fact about how they pitched it. It’s not like Theo took out a front page ad in the tribune the day after the season ended to woo those guys, everything was secretive then too and our interest was played down. why do I feel like people just keep making up "we never knew they were interested in X" stories?

Didn't we decide that Loxas was a questionable source? So far the optimistic reports are from Plesac (not based on actual news just speculation), Dicaro, Charles the Cat and Tom Loxas. The pessimistic reports are from everyone else. Loxas was saying they were out.

The issue is Harold Baines only got in because he got the "he definitely didn't do steroids" vote from the Morganistans and "he was on my team" vote from LaRussa and Reinsdorf. It's not about making the Hall more inclusive and will not help other borderline cases. -

Well yeah, that was deadspin's reason for posting. They had to say something. But 5 days in and he hasn't tweeted? If he broke a leg he'd have already written what an idiot he was. They aren't going to say anything beyond "accident" out of respect for the family suggests something that required serious procedures. Now I feel gross having speculated about it.

very worrying tweets from people who seemingly know what's going on. All I saw was the Deadspin article on him and Roth's tweet. Both were somewhat light hearted, so I was hoping it was nothing serious. If it was life threatening, I feel like they wouldn't talk about putting him on "injured reserve." What are you reading? Man, hope it's nothing serious. Just the cryptic tweets from others, and noting they won't be saying what happened out of respect for the family. People who don't tend to talk about thoughts and prayers asking for prayers. they did the deadspin awards in NYC 12/5 and his last tweet was 12/5. So it seems like a good chance that the accident they refer to was automobile related either in NYC or upon his return to Maryland.
