  1. Even so, 27 is not old.for a lawyer, no. For a baseball player who is not yet good, yes it is.
  2. younger than you dude
  3. Duke has friends in high places
  4. What you are for some reason imagining as pining/props is very much a lamenting of what little the Cubs have done in comparison to other teams.
  5. dont the cubs play in 7 days? goony correctly doesn’t recognize games that take place south of the mason-dixon line holy schnikies I can't read my calendar. I am not in midseason form.
  6. I was very confused by the whole thing. None of the apps made note of it being a regular season game, its just next to all the spring training games. I get the reasoning and know this isn't that unique, but 2 weeks before everybody else starts is new, no? I feel like this has happened before, like within the last 5 or 6 years. It's more like a week before, right? yesterday was the 20th and 12 days before the Cubs first game.

  8. But unlike the Cubs the White Sox won't have to worry about Eloy refusing to resign.
  9. the whole reason it is happening is because his control is being manipulated by service time issues.
  10. executive compensation performance metrics are ridiculously easy to achieve for even the most mediocre exec. Are... are you Bob Iger? I don't get it

  12. I said this with the Harper situation and it applies here, it's become clearer and clearer that a lot of these guys do not like the free agency process. They do not like the constant questions about where they will be going. I see where you're going, and obviously there are two very big data points that show that. I just don't see why it would be so hard to like...be in your opt out year and make a statement on April 1 saying you won't answer any questions about it the whole year, and then come the end of the year tell teams you are going to be signing the best offer (whatever that means for you) by 12/1. A) That's free agency and I just said there's a lot of reason to believe these guys don't like it. B) Making a statement that you won't talk about stuff does not put to bed questions and discussions about what you will do about your contract. C) Putting an arbitrary end date to your free agency is bad tactics. He was lowballed early by the Nationals and the biggest teams in the sport coincidentally decided not to make any legit offers.
  13. there are no trouts in the sea

  15. then again, at this point in the reporting, there's plenty of room for error
  16. Sounds like none. Good deal for Trout. He probably could have hit $500m if he stayed MIKE TROUT for two more years, but the fact is that's a really long time and when you're as good as he is there's really only downside risk. A record contract signed 2 years before free agency. 12 guaranteed years. It's not that weird that the team wouldn't want to give an opt out at those levels and there would be little pressure to do so with no other suitors for the next couple years.
  17. The technology can't help them get better. It can replace them, but it can't help them do their job better.
  18. Except the Dodgers. And Washington is the same as us. NL centreal haven't you heard? MLB approved radical reallignment to go into effect this season with all teams forecasted to finish above .500 in the same division as the cubs.
