New England is back to being just a 7 point favorite. There are no 20 point spreads after 2 last week, but the Chargers are 16 point favorites over the lowly Dolphins.
  2. The actual coolest cub:
  3. pictured, not a cool dude:
  4. Schwarbs and Contreras make ton of sense, Bryant does not.
  5. Have their 2nd and 3rd pairings gotten any better though? I'm guessing no because any pairing involving Seabrook at this stage is going to suck. Love the dude for what he did from 08-16 but he's just horsefeathering bad now. How many years does he have left on his contract? 4 more after this upcoming season. 5 in total! 7 of 8 being awful! Joy!
  6. I really don't think focus is the issue at all. Mitch seems to be all-in on being the QB of the Bears. He's supposedly worked really hard and studied and all that. I think it's pretty clear that Mitch is just a stupid person. He tries and he's physically capable, but he's dumb.
  7. Everybody who questioned the trade at the time was right.
  8. Yeah he was not impressive last night. The throw to Gabriel was really nice but one throw does not make a good QB. But it does frustrate you because you think that if he can just be a little more consistent with his accuracy he could be good. Of course there are a lot of failed QBs you can say that about. Does that fact that he seems to do best when he's scrambling or during broken plays (or with the game on the line) suggest that he has a mental issue? Like in normal game situations he's trying too hard to run the offense properly and make progressions, etc that he overthinks things and ends up either making bad decisions or making the right one but not throwing accurate. But when plays break down he just plays football and finds the open guy based on instinct and raw talent. Considering the high emphasis on the Bears not wanting Mitch to think too much, and scaling back the offense, not to mention his entire career's work, it's not much of a stretch to say that a mental issue is at hand. Specifically, dumbness.
  9. I get that Calloway is probably an idiot and a terrible guy to play the role of face of the franchise in front of the media. But I don't think that precludes him from being an effective member of the coaching staff. It's baseball, the vast majority of these people are abject morons. He got Peter Principled up to manager and now that he's crashed and burned, he can settle back into a role he is more capable of filling, not that I'm begging for him to come to the Cubs.
  10. The rare all NFC game on CBS. The Bears are 2-1, seemingly no worse for the wear after a nearly disastrous first two games. The division remains in reach, and despite being on the outside looking in for the wild card, there is a lot of time left. There's been a lot of talk of Nagy dialing back the offense to dumb it down for old Mitchy one thing (at a time). Vegas still kind of believes in the Bears, or at least, all the dumb money coming out of Chicago still believes in the Bears. They are 2 point favorites against an actual contender. The 4th straight week of being the favorite (and I assume something like 6 or 7th straight dating back to last season. Don't ask me, I'm not a degenerate*. This Vikings defense is a lot better than Washington's. They have not been as stingy as the Packers, but they also haven't had the opportunity to play against the Bears yet. Chicago looked better on Monday, but most of the victory was thanks to opportunistic turnovers rather than tremendous drives by the offense. More likely than not, the defense will need to hold Minnesota to less than their season average 26 points per game. They did well against the Vikings last year, and will need this win if they really do have hopes for the division crown. *Legalized sports betting in New Jersey has turned me into a degenerate.
  11. Having an incredibly stupid QB is fun
  12. Espada and Bard are my top 2. Totally down with that. As others have said, aside from his lack of experience coaching, I'd be concerned that Ross' preexisting relationship with so many of the players on the current team could be a liability. This is a concern that makes zero sense to me. I know you aren’t the only one, but it’s just a bizarre theory.
  13. The Ricketts pulled back on the reins last winter, that was a big problem. Yes, the budget is very high, but the rate of growth and expected rate of growth matter when you make decisions. There was a course correction last winter that had a negative effect. The Ricketts got their taxes reduced and did not pour that money back into the economy (the rich never do that)
  14. I agree with this. Maddon has some fault, but this mess isn't his doing. Anything less than Theo taking primary responsibility will be unacceptable. The only thing I want to hear him address in his end of season press conference is the mistakes he has made and what he plans to do to fix them. Maddon is almost certainly gone, but it is largely due to the mistakes that have been made above him. That partially includes ownership, but mostly lies square on the shoulders of Theo. I don't want to hear him place blame on anyone else. The players have proven they are who they are, and it is Theo who bought into them being better than that. I hope Tom Ricketts is furious, and he has every right to be. But does he really care, or is he counting his money and waiting for the new network to launch (which will very likely not even be carried by some of the major content distributors, Dish Network for example)? Theo listing off his mistakes in a press conference seems like an unproductive occasion.

  16. keep both threads open it's our only hope for a second timeline
  17. You joke, but it just so happens I scrolled through most of the Game 7 thread earlier today. It was very therapeutic, not just because of the end but because of how sincere the excitement was at all the small things that happened along the way. We've talked about this before, but I've definitely lost some of that as the team being super successful has moved from hope to expectation. Weird, for me the success in 2016 was expected, and that has completely vanished the past two years.

  19. Was Alex Smith a mimbo? Because Mitch is a mimbo.
  20. Given how he has performed in the preseason last year and this year (6th best QBR among all QB’s this preseason), I think he’d be competing for the starting job right now if not for the suspension. He’s better than Brissett. Anyone with eyeballs can see that. I think Kelly starts a game this season at some point.
  21. I don't know what this means considering how incredibly different these two QBs are, but my god it will be a miracle if Mitchell somehow gets to 24 touchdowns this year.
  22. Kaep's agent apparently reached out to 3 teams. That would instantly make this team mor interesting! Or they can trade for Eli Manning! Have less than 0% interest in trading for Eli, but just for curiosity's sake: what would a trade for Eli look like? Backup QB plus a 6th rd pick? If Mitch looks like sht the next few weeks, would anyone be in favor of such a deal? I would love to see Eli attempt to run an RPO heavy offense for entertainment purposes only.
  23. This isn't a one game issue. He's missed guys badly a lot. Somebody shared a video showing how awful he is when he has time to think vs other times when he looks great. I'll never forget (nor probably forgive) him missing badly on an easy touchdown in Miami last year, since I was there and everybody in the house knew it was a touchdown until the ball sailed past. He is, way more often than is acceptable, egregiously inaccurate.
