  1. He was healthy last year and is healthy now. Miller on the roster makes absolutely no sense.
  2. That's messed up. Rookies are forced to take pictures for trading cards and miss the first day of camp? I was wondering what Bears would miss for that. I can't believe they had 2. I read there were 35 rookies involved. This is just absolutely stupid on the part of the NFL.
  3. Between Rolen and Zimmerman, it'll be really hard. Ohman up. He's been pretty darn good over at 3rd this year. I'm a Cubs fan so of course I'm biased, but he has been very impressive with some of the stops he's made this year. He impressed the NY announcers with his D, but he's got no chance, since he has the "lazy" and prima donna label.
  4. I was craving this so much yesterday. Not sure why, haven't had any in a long time.
  5. Yes, but it's also quite myopic to assume this "norm" is destined to be repeated every time.
  6. The key is to not embrace mediocrity, but rather complete suckiness. If you don't make the playoffs, you might as well draft 1st.
  7. batting average isn't everything. DeRosa hasn't done squat since the beginning of the year, he sucks right now. .133 AVG, 500 OPS in May. Yeah, he's not an everyday player.
  8. You think it was bad now, wait until 2013 when he is still out there. It's really going to be interesting to see an old Soriano play.
  9. 2nd/3rd, 2-2 to DeRosa ground ball out, inning over
  10. 4-1 vs KC, 2-1 vs NYY, TEX and OAK, 3 highly mediocre teams. The power of the AL, in my opinion, is vastly overrated. Interesting choice of thread though.
  11. Hardly. OPS+ of 100 in his first year. 113 in 2003 and 128 in 2004. For a highly compensated corner outfielder only that last year was amazing. Year 1 was a big disappointment and year 2 was just good. i meant for 2004... and he wasnt making that much At the time his contract was rather large, the kind of money that should require serious production.
  12. People are carrying over their hatred from last year after the most recent game. He's been fine most of the year and most of his time as a Cubs reliever. Nothing special, but fine.
  13. Hardly. OPS+ of 100 in his first year. 113 in 2003 and 128 in 2004. For a highly compensated corner outfielder only that last year was amazing. Year 1 was a big disappointment and year 2 was just good.
  14. What did that get them? 89 wins. After going to the NLCS. LOL, yeah, that's all... no postseason. I will gladly take 89 wins this season, thanks AND you all know the offense wasnt the reason they didnt go to the playoffs that year.. His name is Latroy Hawkins... and I hate him. In that deciding game, Baker decided not to use Hawkins as his closer. He had Dempster start the 9th, then brought in Hawkins with 2 men on. It was a horrible move. Had Hawkins started the inning, the outcome would likely have been different. Baker was the reason.
  15. I'm guessing every option is open right now, including shaking up roles, closer by committee or even trading Dempster.
  16. Any reason given for why the changes coming had to wait until Monday, and not be enacted today? Could they be working a trade or two, and they don't expect them to be complete until Monday? I'm guessing this is part of it. Lou asked Hendry to make some changes and Hendry asked for the weekend to negotiate.
  17. Gameday shows that every single one of the "balls" thrown to Terrero were strikes.. of course...it's gameday. Gameday shows Buerhle getting getting balls called in the strike zone as well. Although one is in the middle of DeRosa's head.
  18. I'm almost 100% convinced these guys have a direct line to the shows if they want to call. I'm sure the radio stations are more than willing to hand out that information, to get them to call in if they feel they need to talk immediately.
  19. For shame Bruce, for shame. Think he'll go to a 13 man staff eventually?
  20. I agree with this. The Delgado ball was not all that well-hit, and Theriot didn't have that far to range. It may have been tough to turn two, but I don't think there's any excuse for that ball leaving the infield. It was more Theriot's fault that it was Eyre's.. You are wrong. Theriot was shaded up the middle and had very far to range.
  21. Lou wants 12 pitchers. So thankfully we'll have a guy who sits around for 5-6 days at a time and then comes in cold. Marmol up only means they lack bench help. They'd need another guy to find a goner.
  22. hey, you know what, scotty, since you got wright out two nights ago, i guess i'm not mad at you for giving up the hit yesterday. getting him out two days ago is good enough for me. I don't understand getting pissed at pitchers for giving up hits. All the pitcher can do is throw the ball. A ball in play that isn't a rocket/homer is going to fall in or be an out pretty much at random.
  23. He's walked 3 in the majors. And do people not remember Marmol walked 59 guys in 77 innings for the Cubs last year? None of these guys is a lock to do any better.
