  1. And yet, still just 14th in the NL in walks.
  2. On pace for 14, I think he might flirt with 18 or 19. Well, he's still hitting the ball well. I'd like to think that he will continue to regain strength in the wrist as the year continues. I think he will get to 20 eventually (or close). Back when he was with Florida, he put up better second half power numbers too if i'm remembering right. In any case, I'm still happy with the OPS and RBI figures. And with Aaramis back and providing power, I think we can live with Lee's non power. I can see him ending up with numbers similar to Drew with LA last year. I doubt playing everyday will help him regain strenghth. He's been good overall, but I don't think they can live without getting more power from him. Any resurgence is likely going to see a resurgent Lee.

  4. 104. There's still a small chance at that number that Lou sends him out there another inning, although it's not as likely as if it were Z or Marquis. Previous high was 110 back in early May. It would be quite a stretch to have him start another inning at this point.
  5. Lilly getting his shite together. He's got to be done though.
  6. I think it's a big naive to think Lou wasn't trying to get Jim to get rid of him long before the incident.
  7. I didn't know it wasn't. Directv's EI package had it on the schedule when I set it for record this morning.
  8. Why do people think Gameday is accurate? I see ^^^ those types of comments all the time. I've seen balls to Cubs hitters that were well within the zone as well. People need to stop focusing on umps and calls and thinking the Cubs are getting screwed.
  9. His DL time is less of a concern than the Cubs outfielders' MIA time.
  10. ? He has been having a rough time with 3B of late. Is this really accurate? I'm asking this to anyone...I've seen him bobble a couple of plays, but he's had at the very least twice as many stellar grabs and saves. I think he has played pretty well at 3rd filling in and if recall he played mostly ss with Atlanta until the arrival of one Rafael Furcal. Realistically though, even if he's somehow a step down from Theriot or Izturis, the offensive advantage would be huge, considering the Cubs' SS are currently at about a 540 OPS. If he just puts up a 750 OPS there that's worth any downgrade in defense, and more.
  11. I don't understand why Lou would try and use any of them every day. Theriot has been as bad as any Cubs hitter has been for the past two weeks. He can't play everyday. He's still better than Isturiz... Not since he started playing everyday at SS. His OPS as a SS is sub 500. He's a utility player who is killing the team by playing SS every day. They both suck, for sure, but Theriot has to stop playing every day.
  12. Which is stupid. Bradley is a hot head, but gives you decent production for his contract. I could care less about him playing the race card. It is moronic, but hey this is a free country and he is entitled to his opinion. All I am saying is if the Cubs were that desperate to get rid of Barrett, there is no chance they pick up a guy who has a history as combustible as Bradley. I don't see how the two are related. They got rid of Barrett because Lou hated his defensive lapses and baserunning gaffes. And he can't put up with that at catcher. They didn't get rid of him because Zambrano wanted to fight him.

  14. Blame Provis. Prior to the pitching change he said the Cubs were far from done, with 2 on and nobody out. That's a stupid thing to think.
  15. It's more like date night. Kind of a like a take out night and some making out and light petting during a rented movie. But then you get a call from flavor of the day Bowen and go out to "pick up some stuff you forgot".
  16. I'd say that was pretty optimistic. Seriously, I thought they'd be a little better than last year, and I think so far my assessment is pretty close. They were/are put together wrong becuase of Hendry's fetishes. I will say I've been happy with DeRosa though. I didn't predict that. I don't remember exactly what I predicted, but I think I had them in a range from 79-85 win. I really thought it wouldn't be hard to do better than the low 70's.
  17. It's hard to imagine, since I didn't have very high hopes to begin with, but this team could seriously underperform what I, the much hated pessimist, thought they were capable of doing on the downside. If they lose today, they are on pace for a 73-89 season, and I don't see any white knights coming in to save them.
