  1. Look. It's not about getting guys at bats, it's about winning games. We just need to start winning games because that's all that matters.
  2. oh im not saying i blame blackhawk fans at all. dollar bill did everything possible to alienate the fans. i'm just defending my team from accusations of bandwagoning - there really isn't much of that among flyers fans, certainly not as much as there has been with the sixers and phillies. the flyers have a fan base that's quite passionate, maybe it's not as big a base as the baseball and football teams, but it's there. To be clear, I was referring specifically to the Philly sports fans I know best. Not just flyer, but across the board for each sport. I agree with your description of Flyers fan passion. It's real, and it's a significant number. In comparison nobody cared about the Phillies until a couple years ago. As for the people I know personally, not one of them was following the Flyers three weeks ago, and now this weekend they'll all be douchebags.
  3. What does this mean? Jackson passed, so now he's going to the rotation and forget all about the bullpen?
  4. ask a stupid question... and people are going to let you know it was a stupid question
  5. size isn't nearly as important as how hard it is

  8. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOFYb7I2atg&feature=related My goodness, thanks Jessica.
  9. There was some sort of preseason footage of the Blackhawks painting the indianhead on the ice and they talked about how they then cover it with another couple layers.
  10. I see what you're saying, but would you turn Gorzelanny into a closer? Or Randy Wells? Those guys are much more valuable as starters because, even though neither is a top of the line type starter, both will put up quality numbers for their team. I'd probably only look at guys who can't cut it in a major league rotation (Gagne, potentially Shark, etc.) to move to a closer's role rather than significantly decrease the number of innings a quality starter will throw. I don't see either guy as having the sort of stuff to be all that much better in short outings. I don't see the point of having either in the pen. That was my point. Both are more back-end of the rotation guys, but shouldn't be turned into relievers because of that. They're more valuable as starters than as relievers. I'm not even sure they are back of the rotation guys. They will probably never be an ace. But if they pitch as well as they have, there's no reason you can't succeed with them as your 3rd starters. Then again, they might not be as good as they've looked.
  11. Forgive my ignorance, but are they putting that ON the ice? That's what it looks like there, but I always assumed that it went UNDER the ice. I believe what they do is paint it on the exposed ice surface and then put a layer of ice over it.

  13. Where is this school of thought? I've never heard anybody say most young pitchers should start as a reliever. I believe that most who end up actually as starters, begin as starters. But it's not necessarily terrible to break a guy in via the bullpen. I don't have a huge problem with it, as long as a guy is being used, and not jacked around. Also, your statement about having to wait to rail against something is unnecessary. The Cubs deserve no benefit of the doubt. If something can be screwed up, Hendry's team can find a way. They've been doing it for decades.
  14. There's a very clear distinction between watching it, and tuning in on occasion. If the US is out in round 1, I doubt I will watch more than 1 full game after that. I might watch some in a moment of boredom, but that's all. Watching it suggest you are actually going to sit down and watch multiple games, including both semis, the finals and maybe the 3rd place game (I assume they have a 3rd place game).
  15. Again, I fail to see how your claim is accurate that they cannot win a playoff game with something like the 15th best offense and the 8th best defense.

  17. Well everyone knows the Super Bowl is going to be played in NJ in 2014 so what is the problem?
  18. He would have to go nuts this round.
  19. Ideal conditions can just as easily favor one team over another. If a team has to play all year in elements, why should they be forced to adjust their game to a dome to end the season?
  20. Yes, it seems clear now that you realize you made a baseless claim and no longer wish to defend it. Fantastic. You misconstrued "making noise" to mean what you wanted, argue incorrectly by only verifying my point further, and then refusing to admit my undeniable correctitude. This is fun. Would you care to define make some noise?
