    You don't see any team paying an aging slugger 4/40? The Yankees would do it in a heartbeat, especially if they are struggling for offense and the Rays keep on winning. The Yankees. The Cubs-like impotent Mets. The Braves, Giants and Rockies. Maybe another half dozen AL teams. 4/40 is not a stretch at all for an aging slugger.

    So much for that hot start in AA for Vitters. .246/.259/.368 9k/0BB in 57 AB. The guy has yet to dominate a single level of pro baseball for any substantial period of time, and he's already in AA as a 20 year old. Why have they felt the need to promote him at the drop of a hat?

    I hate the obsession with leaving men on base and how they hit with RISP. They are a bad offense, but they actually rank slightly higher with risp and risp/2outs. Why everybody obsesses over RISP and LOB is beyond me. It's frustrating but every team leaves them and the Cubs are not any worse at it than most. They just aren't good hitters overall.

    I've said multiple times that I really don't have a problem with these guys pitching out of the big league bullpen, or even getting a few outings in the minors before getting called up. But I have no idea what the point is of sending them to the AAA bullpen for a few weeks and then back to the rotation. It's crazy.

    I think the biggest problem for the Hawks is that for a decade or two they supposedly acted like Detroit's farm team, or so I've heard it told. Weren't they owned by the same people?
