  1. When I was at game 3 a philly fan stopped me and asked who was the captain before toews. I completely blanked. Thought for a second that maybe Aucoin was captain for a while, and had no idea Lapointe was ever captain.
  2. rodolpho thinks he's been a fan since maybe 61 or something like that. And he likes buffin, and when they won game 6. Has there been any stories about Byfuglien being a guy who can get the minority fan interested? I'm kind of surprised how little I've seen of that storyline. And now comcast online is giving us the feed during commercials of an awkward conversation between Pay Boyle and Konroyd.
  3. Cam Barker's planning his day with the Cup. Didn't he play enough games this year? Havlat is wondering why he sucked so much this year. He played enough games, but you have to finish with the team too, I think. I'll check. The Hawks might give him a ring, though. all you have to do is play 41 games in the regular season or 1 game in the finals. I have to imagine most guys still playing for another team would refuse to spend that day with it unless they actually were on the ice that day.
  4. Chris Boden, dorkiest sports announcer or most dorkiest?
  5. I really hope they don't. Goalies with cup wins get paid too much though, it's bound to happen.
  6. That's because the Blackhawks were openly hostile to Chicago sports fans for decades.
  7. Disturbing? That would be awesome.
  8. thats why im getting a bolland or seabrook jersey I'm getting really crabby about this. This city's sports fans weren't just disinterested, they were openly hostile to hockey for years. They should get off my lawn! You don't know a damn thing about Chicago's sports fans.
  9. It sounded to me like they knew it, they just didn't see how they could have called it that way. And instead of saying it must be a home field advantage call, they were acting as though they must have missed it.
  10. It has been reported in many circles that every single major league clubhouse is more or less a segregated community, with latin players and american players the biggest seperation - and then obviously some black and asian guys. So it's not that hard to imagine that Ramirez and Zambrano head up some little latin group that has taken Castro under their wings, and maybe protected him from some stupid hazing nonsense. That probably would have happened if they were 10 games over. Yeah, but what's "disturbing" about that? Nothing. I'm just saying the story is somewhat easy to justify from some fool that wants to interpret normal clubhouse relations as some new scary breakdown.
  11. If were were talking about a 24 or 25 year old then you might agree with him? How forgiving can you be?
  12. Wasn't that guy in band of brothers?
  13. I kind of like it, but I think it's a mistake to make those extremely segregated "good seats" sections the way they have it. When the rich people who buy those seats don't show up, it looks awful on television and takes away from the "I want to be there" feeling fans watching at home have.
  14. Scored against the host team in the opener. Also vaguely resembling an offside play. But incredibly vaguely right? I mean, there was a SA player in front of everybody the whole time.
  15. what the hell was wrong with that goal?
  16. coming to blows is funny, but not as good as giving a player a blow
  17. Yeah, for some reason that was less of a story than the "stolen puck" nonsense.
  18. That makes it poorly constructed. It's not that they put a team of football players out there. It's just not good. They've got no studs, they've got multiple weak spots, they are fairly old in many spots and count on many guys with significant injury issues. It's basically the same team that won just 83 last year despite an an enormous payroll. That's poorly constructed. Winning a game or two more than you lose is not an accomplishment. After 2006 changes were made to win in the short term. (Back-loaded contracts,no trade clauses, overpaying etc.) Its not the best built team, but there is enough talent to win more than they have. Yeah, and people have been saying that for a year and a half, but at some point you are what the results say you are. The Cubs are not good.
  19. So you like all the troublemakers?
  21. definitely burish but it would be funny if it was niemi or somebody like that who did it Well and there were tons of people in that locker room that normally wouldn't be...family members and such. And probably at least one gay person.
  22. I just thought the soccer thread was long as it is and it really doesn't need 200 more pages. Plus we'd probably get more casual fans coming into the World Cup thread vs. that huge soccer thread. If people don't want it, by all means delete it. The soccer thread has 350 pages since 2006, I doubt the WC would add that much more. But there's no harm in starting a new one.
  23. Through the entire playoffs, I've read more of the opposing teams message boards and newspapers than I have any other sites other than this one. I don't post or troll them, but I find reading their depression, (or defiant optimism) after their teams lose to be more fun to read than people freaking out over the Blackhawks when they lose a game or two, or don't play their best game every time out. And it's not just Blackhawks. I do that with every team I follow. Mostly during the playoffs. But also with the Bears during the regular season. Somehow it's healthier for my psyche. I always read opposition newspapers online. I don't get the notion that somebody might be wasting 5 seconds of their life to look at that stuff. After the first hour or so of listening, watching and reading about this win, we're all just seeing the same stuff repeated. But message boards? Ours are bad enough, I don't need to read what some other idiots think of stuff.
  24. During the whole Bradley ordeal, Ramirez was the calmest most rational one, with Soriano a close second. Then again, maybe they blamed all the white boys for selling out bradley like that. Not sure I follow the logic here. Ramirez being calm about Bradley really has nothing to do with this. I think that - if the report is true - he's doing it more because he's in a very bad place and very frustrated. He acted appropriately when many little bitch boys, namely theriot, were willing to squeel like pigs about how much they didn't approve of Bradley. He's been a steady force for several years and never any inkling of being a problem, but now that he's having a bad year every moron out there wants to hop on the Rozner bandwagon and rip the guy to shreds.
