That makes it poorly constructed. It's not that they put a team of football players out there. It's just not good. They've got no studs, they've got multiple weak spots, they are fairly old in many spots and count on many guys with significant injury issues. It's basically the same team that won just 83 last year despite an an enormous payroll. That's poorly constructed. Winning a game or two more than you lose is not an accomplishment. After 2006 changes were made to win in the short term. (Back-loaded contracts,no trade clauses,overpaying etc.) Its not the best built team,but there is enough talent to win more than they have. Yeah, and people have been saying that for a year and a half, but at some point you are what the results say you are. The Cubs are not good.
