  1. With this line – .376/.421/.569/.990 – in AA this year, he was too advanced for that level. I could see wanting him at AAA, but I also don't see a problem with letting him get ML at bats this year either to see how he adjusts. His numbers this season aren't all that important given his age, either. He was doing really well, but I don't see how he was "too advanced" for AA. The numbers make it look like he was ready for a more challenging level maybe. Sure, but they don't say he would suffer from staying there too long.

  3. Trade him for just about anything. This team can use it. The point is he's a huge injury risk, given his delivery, let alone the fact that relievers are terribly inconsistent.
  4. That's just how the dailyherald released it. The story broke yesterday.
  5. So you don't want them to do it to save themselves from their own stupidity? Or because you want to keep Marmol?
  6. Yes that is true. 1 sweep in 16 series there. I knew the D-Backs have always given us fits, but I didn't think it was quite that bad. Cripes. Is that necessarily bad? How often are you supposed to sweep a team in their stadium?
  7. While I know the risks are there with Marmol, I would be opposed to trading him at this point. Marmol, Marshall, and anything from Guzman gives them a solid back of the pen. Offensively, maybe they'll need a 1B depending on Lee. I can't imagine Ramirez declining that player option. They'll need a 2B though. Unfort. they'll likely have too many holes and nopt enough payroll to make them competitive next year. Their best plan will be to see what they have with younger player and their fate likely rest in their hands as well as fighting off decline with Zambrano, Ramirez, Dempster, and Soriano. If your opinion is that they won't have enough to compete next year, why would you want them to hold onto Marmol now, just giving them another meaningless season of risk about his arm?
  8. Chris Davis I get, but Justin Smoak? Are they already willing to deal that guy? I know he's started off slow but yeesh, they must really be hungry for a World Series. No way Lilly nets Smoak. Davis, sure I could probably see that. But not Smoak. He'd probably coast too much It's just a reporter saying they should consider it.
  9. But what about the other parts of that equation?
  10. Where does Rondo fit in?
  11. So he's saying it is a done deal?
  12. you got me
  13. Fall down hilarious. OK, that was a stretch. A better comparison may be A-Rod & Jeter. One is obviously the better player but is still not the star of his team or the city. better comparison, but the difference in individual impact on the game/season makes it yet a stretch. ARod also isn't the global phenomenon that James is. In fact, Jeter is a bigger global star than ARod, even though ARod is a significantly better player. So that comparison really isn't any better. I'm not sure there is a good comparison. I think it's a pretty good comparison. ARod was huge before he went to NY, the biggest star in baseball. But going to NY actually made his star diminish somewhat. Jeter wasn't even the biggest star on the Yankees while they were winning rings. Bernie Williams took a lot of the praise during the 90's WS run, Mariano plus various starting pitchers took some as well.
  14. If a DL stint was all the difference, I'm not so sure I can blame Lou too much on that one. Team doctors/trainers need to make themselves heard, and people in charge of personel moves have to make them. And it's also hard to get mad at a player for not going on the DL when everybody talks about wanting a player to play through pain, give it his all, and the rest.
  15. By the time they make the schedule change, Arizona will turn Pittsburgh on us and dominate.
  16. How am I supposed to know? I just think it's stupid to dismiss all speculation from ESPN that LeBron is going to Miami when it was ESPN that started pushing the "LeBron could be going to Chicago" rumor 20 minutes after Cleveland was eliminated. I don't know how you would know, I'm just asking what you were saying. It seemed to me that you were making fun of Bulls fans for being the only idiots who actually thought Chicago was in the running.
  17. Well, it would only cost them a 2nd, since their 1st will be protected (assuming that's how the system still works).
  18. Wait, you think Chicago isn't actually on the radar? I guess that was worded wrong. I meant that Chicago was one of his top choices. So you don't think Chicago was actually one of his top choices, and it's only Bulls fans who allowed themselves to think that?
  19. Wait, you think Chicago isn't actually on the radar?
  20. Over a fairly brief period of time, and not if you include all his Daytona time. Wait now his time in Tennessee is a brief period of time? Why are you hammering him for it then? I'm talking about his 2010 Daytona time. His total Daytona time puts his k rate in line with his Tennesee time.
  21. This is what is confusing me about max deals. 5/80 is 16m per. Amare got 5/99.7 or nearly 20m per. The Atlanta guy got 6/119, nearly 20m per. What the heck is a max contract? Is it fluid for every player?
  22. Over a fairly brief period of time, and not if you include all his Daytona time.
  23. Because Bulls fans want him to. Because somebody has to eventually if basketball is ever going to be successful in Chicago again. Because people will get bored if he doesn't. Because the concept of competing with Jordan's legecy is pretty silly.
  24. k/pa? I got 15.5, right in line with his pro career.
  25. You stole my joke.
