  1. I had and currently have no interest in Bulger, just like Collins. I never understood the need for a veteran backup QB. They should have stuck with the young guys. Those old bums aren't going to lead this team anywhere.
  2. Surely that would only be a possibility at this point if Hanie got hurt and Cutler wasn't cleared to play this Sunday. If Cutler is back, it's time to part ways with Collins and bring back Lefevour if he's still available. He showed me a decent enough arm, mobility in the pocket and an ability to hit an open receiver in preseason. I think he'd be fine as a 3rd QB, and hope they never get to the point of needing a 3rd. That or find someone else on the waiver wire that is mobile. Collins is just a trainwreck with this offense. I haven't heard any clear cut indication with what they are planning on doing with Collins/Hanie, and with this coaching staff I'm not going to assume anything.
  3. The kind that will not quit.
  4. care to read that again?
  5. They claimed she never did. May have been her agent or some third party to keep her fingers clean, but it could easily have been anybody else, considering she supposedly played these recordings and pictures for friends for poops and giggles. what i don't understand is why she's so reticent to come out about this. she told a sleazy blogger who will do anything for dirt about the pictures and the voicemails, thinking he was going to keep it quiet because they were friends? how dumb is she? then she lets anyone and everyone hear the messages and see the pictures and texts, but she won't officially speak on this, what the [expletive]? honestly, what did she think would happen? maybe she's afraid of getting sued or never getting another sideline reporter job, who knows? this girl is a straight up attention-seeking bitch. A lot of Favre apologists are calling her a slutty whore and a whole bunch of other words essentially for being on the receiving end of some skeevy older male attention and having the audacity to not remain quiet about it. My guess is that is why she is hesitant to have her name attached.
  6. Clearly. But if Todd Collins is playing I have no faith in what the team is going to do. If they happen to give up some points there's serious doubts about being able to come back.
  7. OFF because of Cutler's status I'm assuming. I'd probably take the Bears with the points this week if Cutler is playing. Yeah, has to be about his status. I wouldn't give up any points if it's another QB.
  8. August is not spring.

  10. http://deadspin.com/5603701/brett-favre-once-sent-me-[expletive]-shots-not-a-love-story Deadspin heard the story in February, but didn't run it until August.

  12. I'm seeing both a 7 point spread and OFF for this game, and hope the picks league I'm in that makes all OFF games a pick-em gives me that option. I hate giving that many points with the Bears.

  14. The story came out (less than a year ago), but mainstream media ignored it. Now with the voicemails and pics out there, they really can't do that anymore. Deadspin broke the story in August, I believe.
  15. intent has no merit in the NHL justice system. I agree with you, but the NHL is really hard to read on these types of things. My guess is Hjalmarsson is not quite a big enough name to get off free. Yeah, but usually punishment comes from an actual hit to the head or from behind. It's tough to define what was suspendable about it, but it probably is since a concussion was involved.
  16. That may have been the worst sporting event I've ever attended. Got there in time for some tailgating, then had to wait through several storms and by the time I got into the stadium it was shoulder to shoulder since nobody was allowed in the seating area due to lightning. That's the 2nd time I've been to the stadium and it still sucks. The beer guy nearest where our seats were is incredibly slow. The bathroom situation is terrible and the concourses suck for a new stadium. I also had to sit in front of the most obnoxious Vikings fan I've met. He shows up one quarter late and proceeds to ridicule everything Jet related, ignoring how pathetic his team has been. At least Favre came through in the end like he always does. And I didn't see his dick.
  17. I think that was him talking about the Panthers offense.
  18. It's very significant losing hours flying east. also west coast people are weak.
  19. And a lot of that is because of how easy it is to win 9 games in college. You act like it's a huge accomplishment, but it's not. With multiple cupcakes and a home game centric schedule, winning a good amount of games just isn't that hard. It's blatantly obvious that college head coaching jobs are much less demanding than that of NFL head coach. I never said they aren't involved in the recruiting process, I said they aren't doing the heavy lifting. The NFL has the advantage of more money and the chance to win the game's highest prize. But NCAA offers very good money itself, much more stability, and less demands. Once you've already won a Super Bowl, there's plenty of reason to think a coach would be happy to settle into a college gig.
  20. Not for the head coaches. The assistants do all the work.
  21. None. In May, 2009 Forbes had Fisher and Lovie Smith as the highest paid NFL coaches ($5.5 mil). I think Saban is close to the highest paid college coach at $4+ mil a year. Lovie was near the top a couple years ago, but I believe he was surpassed by a few guys since then.
  22. Is it really more stability and less pressure at a major school? If you win at a very high level, the pressure and stability issues aren't there at either level. But if a coach at Penn State, Tennessee, USC, Florida, etc. struggles for a year, he'll be villified just as much as if he struggles with the Titans, Jets, Colts, etc. You can be villified if you struggle, but Bobby Bowden and Joe Paterno have had more stability than any coach around. Look at Kirk Ferentz, and before him Hayden Fry. At many schools you can finish 8-4 most years with occasional 10+ win seasons and just as long as you limit the sub .500 seasons, you can stick around. There's only a handful of schools that are canning successful guys and even schools like Michigan did so after 12 years. Fulmer was around forever. Spurrier has been a .500 coach at Carolina since 2005. You spend 5 years in one place in the NFL and everybody wants you dead unless you have a Super Bowl. You play fewer games, with a heavy emphasis on home games. There's recruiting trips, but for the head coach that is nothing. College assistants work like dogs, but nobody works more than NFL coaches. And you get a month to prepare for your big bowl game and then a long vacation. College coaching is a plum job.
  23. Maybe cross country trips matter, but I think for the most part if you're getting on a plane to play another game, whether it's 1:00, 2:00 or 4:00 there isn't much of a difference. They aren't travelling by rail or on some cheapo airline. I do think it's an advantage for a team to be playing back to back home games in that situation. But I'm not sure if history supports that claim.
  24. I'm not so sure that is true of Gruden. First or second line? I'm almost positive he's not going to a college football team, but I could see where he'd be much less in demand than Dungy or Cowher. Mostly about being hired in a heartbeat, but possibly taking a college job. Being a college head coach is a great gig. Sure, most of these guys want to succeed at the highest level, but all three have already done it. College head coaching can offer much longer contracts, much more stability and much less pressure.
  25. I hate Thursday night games more than Monday Night. Everybody should get to have their bye the week before a Thursday game. Agreed. The only "problem" is bye weeks are nearly over when Thursday games start. That obviously can be changed, but I'm sure Thursday games are more popular later in the season ($$$), so I don't see that happening. Yeah, that's tricky. They run thursday games through week 16, which would require a week 15 bye, but those are done in week 10. I don't see a problem bumping them back to week 12 or so.
