Yeah, whether or not you are at your teams financial limit, how many bad unmovable contracts you have, etc. I'm not sure why they didn't just call it flexibility. -
I sat in those upper deck seats once in high school. They really were stupid. But old Yankee Stadium was worse up there.

I could see them paying big for a cuban star to sell to the public immediately. But I doubt they have the patience or foresight to risk big money on a prospect who will be years away from producing and may wind up being traded anyway (thus losing his appeal as a Cuban to sell to the public).

The Marlins's goal this offseason was to appear in a headline at least once a week to remind everybody they are now the Miami Marlins. They accomplished that.

Well, if you buy Moss and another guy, then you can spend your draft picks filling the other holes you have on the team. Both lines, DB and LB with the first four picks, then draft a WR in the 4th/5th and depth elsewhere. Moss, Johnson/Jackson, Bennett, Hester is a pretty nice top 4. If you have a top notch offensive line it will make it a lot easier to develop a WR rather than drafting one early and needing him to be productive immediately with a still mediocre line.

When you say "another FA", are you talking one of the guys we've at least discussed, or just a vet like Josh Morgan or Eddie Royal? a real guy

Take a chance on Moss and another free agent, then leave the draft for all the other needs (DE, DB, OL and probably LB). You can take a flyer on a late round WR and RB depth. If you can actually transform the line into a real strength instead of a passable group at best, or an obvious weakness at worst, then WRs are going to get their numbers.

What the hell are you talking about? How does that negate what I am saying? The committee controls anything that happens to the bleachers and the marque. Stating that there are several layers of bureaucracies that get in the way doesn't mean this isn't a bureauracy that gets in the way. Soldier Field was a clusterpuck specifically because of the need to keep the columns, which severely limited their ability to make actual improvements. It was a problem.

I don't think you know what you're talking about No I don't know the specific machinations involved but it's basically a committee they have to "convince" to let them do stuff every time they want to upgrade.

There's three things in the way, the BS landmark status which is basically just a way for bureaucracy to skim money off the top, the local residents/business interests that protest everything, and the government's willingness to be creative with tax revenue offsets/breaks.

the trade value chart is like 2 decades old. I doubt anybody relieso on it for anything.

But he already has some service time from last season. Was he a sept. call up or was it earlier? I don't see him up before June anyway but I thought that sept. callups worked differently/ didn't count for service time He started in June, was sent back in July and had something like 50 games total after the September call-up. BR.com lists his service time as 0.068.

Off the top of my head, I don't see how that Osi trade evens out for the Giants. A 2 and a 3 for a 2 and Osi?

Yeah, Jed's already said that was the plan. Yeah, you have to give Lahair a chance to see if he can hit at the ML level. If he can he becomes a decent pinch hitter/backup 1B-OF. It may be the smart thing to do, if Rizzo does need the time in AAA, but you don't have to give Lahair anything. He's already showed enough to be a bench bat. I'm not saying it's going to happen but if Lahair stinks in ST and Rizzo is tearing up the cactus league, they'd have to at least consider giving the job to Rizzo. Wouldn't they? The point that they don't have to give Lahair anything certainly stands, despite there being no good reason to start Rizzo from day one.

that's definitely not true really it is. there are special mixes you can use with concrete that allow it to cure in really cold tempuratures but it usually begins to crack after a few years. I.e it just wont cure right. Also when it snows no one is pouring concrete anywhere. In a normal winter construction work halts in november and doesnt begin again until march. Its too cold to work outside and when the workers can sit at home and collect unemployment for those frigid months you will have to actually overpay them to work. Sure there are some things you can do interior work etc. but for the most part work slows to a nonexistent pace. Road construction comes to a halt, but building construction? I don't think so. Certainly it takes a slowdown, but they can and do continue projects through the winter. Along those lines, any plan for offseason construction is going to be done piecemeal, over the course of multiple seasons like MSG is doing. Essentially a series of small projects.

I never understood why they didn't wait for this season to play out before extending Bowman. He's done nothing but dismantle. Granted, he had to for financial reasons, but he hasn't done anything to improve the team, just the cap situation.

For that one season hopefully, but he'll have to do a hell of a lot to make up for the ovepays in earlier seasons. It's probably a mistake to even think about if/when he'll be steal. Just hope he can live up to the contract and justify the inevitable early arbitration raises. I think ideally we'll be looking at a longterm deal being signed somewhere around 2017 locking up a quality player through his early 30's.

How are these people gonna get square with themselves when he crashes down to earth? I hope people throw this in the face of every anchor and analyst that have spread this garbage for eternity. Cant these people go back to pretending to like hockey. I'm not sure exactly what you are talking about here, but I have noticed everybody seems prepared to blame Carmelo Anthony if/when Lin falls to earth.
