    Yeah, I really don’t get the “this isn’t a Poles move” sentiment. It probably won’t happen, but not because it’s a thing Poles wouldn’t do. What is a Poles move? Last year it was sit on your hands and do nothing. Then trade away defensive veterans for draft picks followed by trading draft picks for offense. This year it was ignore positions of need on the lines in free agency and double down on others. Then load up on tight ends while extending the one you already had. There isn’t really a Poles playbook, except for stressing athleticism and youth, or signing a nearly 40 year old.

    Time and again trades have shown us that guys aren’t worth what we think they are. A conditional 3rd rounder sounds right. If Indy isn’t interested in paying him like a top RB they can’t expect to be compensated for a top RB.

    Hagel signed a big extension with Tampa. I believe the first pick they got for him was used on Oliver Moore. They also have a 2024 tampa pick in the back pocket.

    Eh, they’ve never had any real sustained success. The closest they came to it was early aughts when they went 7 seasons without being under .500. But they’ve only made the playoffs in back to back seasons once in their existence. They were cool in the 90s when the cubs were irrelevant, but they came up way short. If they ever won consistently they’d get more attention. The problem is the product. The Mets are second fiddle to the Yankees but they don’t really care. There’s nothing wrong with being second fiddle to a team in the same city. You have to overcome it with good investments and community outreach. They won’t be relevant in Nashville with the same product, struggling to keep up with small market franchises that aren’t doing anything themselves

    No. It’s time to not consider extending him, and keep bringing in challengers. But there’s no reason to move on from one of your best linemen right now. If he can’t recover relatively early you’ll be forced to move forward without him. But considering the lack of quality across the board, and the veteran opposite him hasn’t been a participant thus far, Jenkins is still part of the plan. next summer might be different.

    Ron Rivera is obnoxious? On a list of obnoxious head coaches I would have several ahead of him.

    I get that no nfl team looking to contend in 2023 would put him on as qb2. But what about the tankers? Who is tanking this season like the bears did last year? Most tanking teams aren’t settled at qb. And if you are tanking you don’t have to worry about perfect roster construction. You could look to steal somebody’s ps QB and put him on your roster as QB3. There’s probably 3-4 teams that are a threat to consider that option, but there are probably a dozen other practice squad qbs those teams could consider, so as you say, the chances are slim.

    This team isn’t winning without a good Justin Fields making a difference. If he goes down it doesn’t matter who the backup is. They’re losing. I’d rather prioritize youth and upside at the position than reliable wisdom. That being said, if you can stash him in the practice squad as qb3, then by all means give it a go.

    Toews’ career is only mostly dead. He’s not retiring but also taking a step away this season.
