  1. I'll give you my opinion on Kerry Wood. I think he was one of the greatest pitchers stuff wise I have ever seen, for 1 year at least. What made Kerry Wood's stuff so good was his bad mechanics. The way he threw the ball is what made him so good but what also distroyed him phisicaly. The 1998 Kerry Wood was not built to last. He'll never likely be that pitcher again not with the way he has had to alter his mechanics. He may be mediocre but he will never dominate like he once did. Just my 2 cents. I love Kerry for the memories that I have of his early days and thats how I will remember him when he is gone from the game, as that kid that struck out 20 one foggy day in Chicago. The one that made the Houston Astros look like little leaguers for 9 innings. Kerry was awesome once and thats how I'll remember him.
  2. At least its a college player thank God.
  3. When is the draft I thought it was today
  4. Lol this is exactly what he is going to say.
  5. In Mesa they're playing games right now, they just aren't reported. So he's not just working out, he's also pitching on a regular basis. Are these games not reported because press are not allowed to attend? Are the games public? You would think in these times someone could affoard to send a reporter there from time to time to report on some of the prospects that are there.
  6. I think he is begining his downward spiral into oblivion, 1 or 2 more years he'll be out of baseball.
  7. I was convinced 2 years ago, thats when they should have replaced him. Talk of them resigning him has really made me ill.
  8. Wood and Prior are better hitters than some of the guys grabbing bats now, it could help...... LoL... I do think that Prior is a better hitter than JJ, definantly could hit left handers better.
  9. It wont matter to much if we get Prior, Wood, and Miller back we will still lose due to the sad fact that we cant score runs. I am excited about seeing Wood again even though I dont think he will win many games behind this offense.
  10. Maybe he is tired of trying to settle Z down
  11. I didnt think about mechanics issues, I guess keeping him in extended spring training till the Boise season starts makes sense in that light. I do wish we had more news of how he is coming along.
  12. I don't think this is unexpected. Many people thought he wouldn't see Peoria this year, or at least until late in the season. Why is that? I cant see how not pitching against meaningful competition can help him in any way. I thought high drafted highschool picks always pretty much went straight to Boise or Peoria. What types of things is he doing in Arizona? When does Boise's season start? Thats the short season rookie ball team correct?
  13. Im beging to wonder what is wrong with Pawlek. The real trouble with extended spring training is that no one knows what goes on there or who is doing what and when, its the perfect place the hide things. I hope he's not injured but I wonder why he hasnt been put in Peoria yet.
  14. My personal opinion is that this is getting a little blown out of proportion, there have been plenty of times I have wanted to throw a bat at an umpire and Im just watching the game. I dont agree what he did was right in any way but people are making him out to be the anti-christ or something. He's a young guy that needs to learn to control his emotions. Send him to anger management classes and suspend him for 30 games. People are acting like he tried to kill the ump or something he underhand flung the bat at the guy and hit his chest protector. Was it wrong? Yes, but Im sure there are far worse things he could have done and I dont think he will forget what he did, Im sure he will hear it brought up for as long as he lives as it is. By the way can he go play in the independant league or something or is he just going to be sitting on a couch somewhere eating potatoe chips and geting out of shape for 2 months? All kidding aside Im sure he will work out ect but not playing for 30 days+ could really mess up this guys career.
  15. Similar numbers, but Billingsley is 5 years younger and has much better stuff and more plus-pitches. Yeah I know the 2 arent really compareable Im just venting. Billingsley is going to be very good probably projects as a number 1 or 2 starter, I think Hill is going to be more like a number 4 guy.
  16. There is this guy named Rich Hill in Iowa that has posted very similar numbers to Billingsley this year, to bad he is blocked at the major league level by the fabulous talents of Glendon Rusch.
  17. Hey Hendry! You have a left handed starter in AAA that is 1-0 with a 1.44 era, in 25 innings he has K'ed 33 and walked only 7 with a WHIP of 0.80. Why in the heck do we have a guy in the rotation with a 8+ era who has lost what 4 games now? Its not like this is brain surgery common sense would tell you a move needs to be made.
  18. Its bulpen implosion day at the ole balpark folks! Yesss sir. lol
  19. In what league Tim? He's on my roster in the NSBB league, as is Hamels who struck out 14 in 7 shutout innings in his first AAA start. Im going to have some great pitching keepers next year. Billingsley, Hamels, Verlander, Cain and Kazmir. ***edit*** Ahhh roadkill draft, I see the reference now, some other league I suppose.
  20. Ardsma got the job done. The job was to make sure that both of Rusch's runners scored to futher baloon his era. Whats that era at now?
  21. I really hope that Wood is taking Rusch's spot in the rotation when he returns, by the time this game is over Rusch will probably have a era in double digits, why would you replace anyone else? Of course this is the Cubs, so who knows. I wouldnt mind Hill getting 1 or 2 starts till Wood is ready. Rusch is just worse than bad.
  22. I think he needs to shave I couldnt tell who he was at first.
  23. Yuck! Grant has had a really rough go of it this year. I thought he was getting it straightened out his last outting but I guess not.
  24. Great job with the interview Djaxx, it was good to hear that he reads the site.
