  1. yup it's hendry's fault for not waiting for the market to completely tank like it did and everyone in baseball knew it except him.
  2. impossible, neither were signed by the Jimmy Carter of Baseball GMs
  3. No, Joe Morgan is never right about anything.
  4. Uh, the guy should've drafted instead of Vitters or Wieters. Rick Porcello.
  5. Hopefully, the cubs Fukudome sucks.
  6. Hal McRae and Jim Skaalen laugh at this post.
  7. To save or come close to saving the $11 MM that Peavy's contract costs this year, the team would have to move Brian Giles - who nixed a deal to the Red Sox when they were contending - and one of Adrian Gonzalez, Chris Young, Jody Gerut, Heath Bell, or Scott Hairston. That seems like a tricky thing for the Padres to do right now. Link Additionally moving Peavy will remove the albatross for the coming years, as has been noted on this board many times. They already moved Jody Gerut for TGjr. Or was that just a silly silly dream?
  8. I have no doubt he will overpay. But look on the bright side. When hendry is fired we can hire Depo and he'll rebuild the farm like he did for the dodgers.
  9. **** dumb*** cubs, How are they supposed to get a high draft pick if they start winning games and look like they have a some semblance of hitting?
  10. Good lord, The only way the cubs start to be sellers is if they go into a tremendous nosedive or the cardinals/brewers start to run away with the division. And neither is happening. Get off the ledge people they are less than 5 ****ing games out for Ivan's sake.
  11. I heard Len say in the pre-game the following day that the ball was "retrieved" & given to Scales; no details about whether there was any kind of trade, or if the fan gave it to him in person. By "retrieved" I took it to mean someone from Wrigley/Cubs staff got it from the fan... Well, I know this for a fact being as I was probably at most 10 people away from the guy who ended up getting* Theriot's 1st major league HR . They offered him a choice of 3 things, a signed ball by the entire team. A signed greg maddux jersey or a signed glove by Lee. *as one of my friends dropped it despite having a mitt.
  12. Granted ND has been terrible since Manieri left but have the cubs drafted a ND player since Shark?
  13. Yes, Derrek and Soto have carried our offense and the starting pitching has been excellent including Ryan Dempster.
  14. agreed let's get Hire Paul Depodesta (without logan white) or Ned Colletti and get Sandberg to manage. I guarantee that will bring a winning mix
  15. he's pretty much a lock to go to the cubs. Jimbo's best friend is now at LSU not ND.
  16. Jake Locker. And no way on the ND kid. Unless he was originally a Manieri guy.
  17. Lee never recovered from his injury and is now washed up. Same with Kosuke.
  18. Toolsy middle infielder who can't hit. Pass on a college version of Adam Dunn.
  19. completely washed up: "Lee, Bradley, Fuku" couldn't hit: "Fontenot, Soto, and the bench" Terrible signings that pitched terribly "the entire bullpen and Ryan Dempster"
  20. still a better contract than what Dempster got.
  21. You could say this about every player in the cubs lineup save for Ramirez and Soriano.
  22. 2009 Cubs = 2008 Seattle Mariners.
