  2. If it allows the cubs to sell high on byrd and trade Fuku and make a run for Crawford. I'd be for it. But instead I'm resigned to a team that will trade Ramirez and bring in the 3rd base version of Jeremy Hermida (Gordon) and move Colvin to first to make room for Sam Fuld.
  3. Let's trade Soto for J.R. Towles and Wallace. Hendry would be a genius Towles is going to be a star.
  4. Picking up Rios was a good move because they planned to play him in center. Where he was you know he could be a mediocre hitter but as long as he fielded the position well a good centerfielder with power potential isn't cheap anymore. Picking up Juan Pierre and Mark Teahen those were bad moves.
  5. Or a world where AA stats are less important than major league stats.
  6. Castro *pfft* Look at that swing! He looks like a girl. Now, Adam Dunn -- there's a stance you could set your watch to.
  7. This just seems like typical lee to me. He shows up in the boxscores when it no longer matters. It happened this year and to a degree last year. He played great in 05 when it didn't matter. When it comes to crunch time as in the post season, the guy has zero rbi's with the cubs and 8 total in 100 at bats. Hes just not a legitimate star, team leader, nor a three hitter. Unfortunately year after year we were left to depend on him in this capacity. If only we had more Jaw jutting, forward leaning, scruff of the beard type winners like Darin Erstad or Scott Brocius.
  8. I'd rather sign Elijah Dukes off the scrap heap for bat**** insane outfielders.
  9. If he bangs sixes and is good with the media he's would be a folk hero here.
  10. Yeah, let's trade Vitters for a proven veteran like Yuniesky Betancourt. Jersey Cubs Fan is right. Let's move Vitters now before he loses his prospect tag in 2016. It's amazing to me how bad people are at reading. Either that, or how afraid people are to admit when a prospect they have hope for is playing poorly. It's not like admitting he sucks right now commits you to a lifetime of hating Josh Vitters. He sucks, but maybe in the future he won't. Let alone when a guy they don't like is playing well. For example, Colvin, Tyler
  11. Both Fuku and Byrd should be traded. Then throw a hat into next season's carl crawford sweepstakes.
  12. Pretty much if Colvin becomes a 500-550ish SLG lefthanded outfielder who is cheap I'll be pleased. Which for the most part when he's been healthy he has been. Too many people seem to be still holding a grudge about not drafting the kid on the Blue Jays who is quickly looking like Jeremy Heremida or they are too focused on the one flaw in his game.
  13. Hilarious, Castro has been mediocre (710 OPS and 3rd most errors in the NL) and if anything is the guy on the cubs who needs to go back to minors and work on things. His fielding needs work and his bat has been frankly bad since his kosuke-like debut. But let's send down the guy who currently has the highest OPS on the team. Brilliant
  14. Apparently Willken is buddies with Hendry so he probably won't stay if Hendry is shown the door. Small price to pay to be rid of Hendry, Hughes and Fleita. Wilken sucks how could you forget the terrible draft pick of Tyler Colvin. That dude absolutely blows. Harveyesque bust.
  15. Mark Grace, Greg Maddux, and Steve Stone.
  16. Jim Hendry is a moron for not taking on this reclamation project. I expect a Cliff Leeesque turn around now. Theo is so awesome and can do no wrong.
  17. Kind of silly to talk about a "trio of outfielders" that doesn't include Colvin, since Colvin's got the highest OPS of them all. BUT HE'S HISTORY'S SECOND GREATEST MONSTER. TIM WILKEN BEING THE GREATEST OF COURSE.
  18. I don't think he's amazing. But I do think he's probably a 800-830ish SLG dependent hitter. If the added muscle has helped him develop more power great. But let's not forget a guy who can SLG in the 500-550 range for cheap has value. If anything I'm surprised by his patience it's not as Kevin Menchian as I had previously heard.
  19. It's just as accurate as the guys completely writing him off by his career minor league numbers which are a tad skewed by one bad season where we found out he was playing with a bum elbow.
  20. minor league career vs lhp: 0.277/0.308/0.460/0.768 minor league career vs rhp: 0.276/0.324/0.461/0.785 Fine. He can't hit righties either Will he also play his entire career with a torn elbow ligament?
  21. In this case it's true though. 2004 Neifi = had a +900 OPS in 100 AB, Colvin has a +900 OPS in about 100 ABs there for the comparison is good. Colvin is terrible.
  22. Tyler Colvin is the 2004 Neifi Perez all over again. He's such a terrible player. Freaking Wilken doesn't know what he is doing.
  23. Probably, Ricketts has to get his fake buzz for next season.
  24. You're right on Delgado. I just don't see that much to dislike about Wilken. He makes some off the wall picks at times, but he's helped turn this minor league system from one of the worst in baseball to at least middle of the road and rising. He's got a number of high potential players in the minors two of our past four first rounds pick have made the majors already and two others are in or near the top 100 prospects (I believe). Questioning his picks is perfectly fine, but I don't see where he hasn't done a good job. Regression to the mean. Also, Snyder is in his second season in the bigs and Vitters is crapping the bed as we speak very near to where you live. It's not just who he picked it's also who he didn't pick. That's a tough one to pin on him though, lots of guys get passed over. Again, the Cubs main problem are developing talent, IMO that's not on Wilken. Snyder was in the Colvin draft. And has been okay but nothing great (800 or so OPS) Now, if you are talking Vitters for Porcello you might have a point.
  25. because what he did in AA two years ago could be indicative of how he plays in chicago. is that such a hard concept to wrap your head around? So, Tyler Colvin is going to play his whole career with a shredded throwing elbow. Good to know.
