I'm feeling good about the Shockers chances on Saturday. Would make me a very happy sports fan if they beat the Gonzaga. I don't think they've faced a team as physical as the Shockers are on defense since December.
UCLA was going to win one and then be eliminated when Jordan Adams was healthy. Now I doubt they'll win even one game now. I've seen some projections with UCLA playing Wichita St in a possible 6/11 or 7/10 matchup. As a shockers fan, I would like that.
Looks like Joe earned the start for Game 2. Cubs lineup for G2; Valbuena 3b, Mather lf, Rizzo 1b, Castro ss, LaHair rf, Clevenger c, Jackson cf, Cardenas 2b, Raley p
Logan Watkins is having quite an impressive season, as a soon to be 23 year old w/the Smokies. He's walking a lot, and hitting pretty decently also (.282/.381/.405). How's his glove? Chance he has an impact with the big league club?
It's kind of crazy that in a game in which they manage to get three of their hotter prospects into the lineup they still have Joe Freaking Mather in RF. And it's too bad that we don't have much in terms of interesting OF prospects in the upper minors. Ha and Szczur are in AA but are still a ways away. It will basically be an un-interesting mix of LaHair, Mather, and DeJesus in right field for the rest of the year. Maybe they call up Sappelt at some point, but he isn't interesting.
Raley was pretty decent today. 8 K's, 0 BB's in 5 innings. Amezaga made an error in the 6th, and the inning took a turn for the worse. Raley has been solid for a while now, though.
