  1. LOL, the wording has increased my blood pressure on more than one occasion today. I got really excited when I first read it this morning.
  2. I'm not afraid to admit that I'd be very angry if the Sox snatched him away and I had to watch him play across town (not to mention hearing about how they one upped the Cubs every 5 minutes)
  3. Ugh. dag nabbit. It's a BS post. The link is bogus. Ah, good. I'm using my phone and I avoid clicking links.
  4. I thought this thing had been narrowed down to serious contenders? I wouldn't be surprised if clubs start jumping into the bidding in hopes of upping the final contract amount. Get it done Jim.
  5. No, everything I've read indicates that Ibanez is plan B.
  6. I hate to beat a dead horse but this news coming out before Monday/Tuesday adds credence to the theory that Urbon is out of the loop. Looks like Rosenthal's sources were right afterall. Perhaps, Urbon will know more when Fukudome comes to the US.
  7. I heard the show as well and Levine's comments about the Cubs payroll increasing was in direct relationship to the rising cost of free agents and the Cubs recent willingness to spend (it was also contrasting Kenny Williams/Sox reluctance to pay market value/out bid other teams even in the absence of many quality MiL'ers to trade). Also, he only mentioned Bedard in response to a caller wondering why he had not heard the Cubs expressing interest in him. Levine's response was his own feelings not what he thought the Cubs would do.
  8. I wonder if this is really news. The Cubs.com article also quotes Urbon saying that Fukudome would make an announcement on Tuesday but, he clarified it by saying it would be Monday by US time.
  9. Gagne and Torres? I haven't been home can you clarify the link? Edit: NM
  10. And for all we know, Ichiro put in a good word about Lou... It's annoying to hear that a player recommended another team but I don't think it will be the difference in the end.
  11. Yes, you're probably right. I was/am skeptical because we all know Fuk has more than one agent. Plus, this seems to be the offseason where an agent (namely Boras) has been left in the dark on a few dealings.
  12. I'm thinking it's the royals. They have been in on it for a while now too if I remember correctly. Yeah, that's a great guess too. It certainly wouldn't surprise me considering their moves lately. I'm just leaning towards the Sox because of all the reason that have already been mentioned here.
  13. Why is this stupid? I think it's stupid because they are selling low. I agree with the article; that it might have been better to hold on to him in hopes of increasing his value instead of immediately settling for a few middling pieces this early (they may have gotten that ultimately but it makes little since to do so now. The Pirates will have an up hill battle in the division as it is and I don't see how any of those players will help). Waiting to trade him would have at least giving them a better chance to increase his value.
  14. The third team has to be the White Sox. Kenny Williams is trying to be Secret Squirrel about this but he's already on record about having serious interest in Fuk.
  15. I'm guessing that it's common knowledge amongst the GMs that Tejada's been a juicer and don't want to be associated with the bad pub when that fact comes out, Angelos included. It would make more sense that "they are dying to get rid of that guy", a Burke/Everett/pitcher deal is actually being considered, and that Hendry and other GMs are using the salary excuse. Salary is a red herring, nobody would consider Tejada's salary prohibitive while Jose Guillen gets signed for the same money. . Roberts also has had PED rumors surrounding his career and previous power surge. Although, I don't dispute that Tejada's name seems to come up more frequently in those discussions.
  16. Hmmmm, so the 'stros are getting Tejada... They still need pitching to compete. Hopefully, a Roberts deal to the Cubs isn't too far behind!
  17. http://sports.mobile.msn.com/en-us/articles.aspx?aid=7533086&acid=2&afid=0 Rosenthal mentions rumblings about a potential Astros move (hopefully, the link works; I'm using my phone).
  18. Actually, he said that there were internet reports that said he might make a decision tonight or tomorrow... Fine, be like that :P Just trying to help. :P

  20. Does the bolded statement above from Houston and the Cubs GM's love of long term deals scare anyone else? Nah, I think they are just protecting themselves after last year's debacle with Garland and the Sox for Tavares and others (that trade was reported in Houston as a done deal only to be halted moments before a press conference).
  21. I didn't see this posted anywhere... Cubs.com
