  1. Talk where? In the media? By the fans? That doesn't mean anything. It's pretty simply. Krivsky is going to get what HE wants for Dunn and Griffey or he will hang onto them into the offseason and probably into next season. Dunn's price tag is cheaper then Griffey's, but both are going to cost you something nice. Either somebody is going to step up and make a deal, or nothing will happen. I'm not sure if I like the strategy or not, but that's what is going to happen. if the cubs and reds were gonna make a deal for griffey, what would you as a fan want back from the cubs? Murton & Marshall Murton can't play RF, and even if he could that is the position Josh Hamilton should be playing. Dunn is the Reds Lfer, for now. Jay Bruce will probably be playing LF in Cincinnati a year from now.

Marshall, Patterson, and a pitching prospect along with the Reds not having to pay any of his salary.
  3. Hank looked sluggish to say the least last night.

  5. There's still a week left. Either teams will up there offer, or Krivsky will bring his price down. Not sure if he will bring his price down on Griffey or Dunn, which I'm not sure I'll do either considering we control both Griffey and Dunn for another year if we chose, but his price will come down on the likes of Loshe, Conine, Hatteberg, etc. Now that doesn't help the Cubs, but that's my two cents.
  6. Hatteberg 1b Freel cf Griffey rf Phillips 2b Dunn lf Keppinger ss Encarnacion 3b Ross c Lohse p Keppinger as Dunn's protection. What a joke.

  8. What about fellow outfielder Ken Griffey Jr? Nothin much lately. The last I heard is that he had given the Reds a list of teams he would improve a trade to, and that the Cubs and Braves are on the list. I don't see him being traded though.
  9. So he's looking pretty good? He looks like a totally different person with the amount of weight he lost. It is really hard to tell after just one inning of work. It will be interesting to seem him pitch on back to back days. I wouldn't be shocked if his fastball on the second day was sitting in the mid 80's. He needs to build up some arm strength before he comes back. Probably another 2-3 weeks of rehab would be my guess. Yep. We were outside the stadium and flames and baseball pointed out Wood in his warmup jacket, and I honestly didn't believe it was him. He has lost a ton of weight. I came away unimpressed with his outing. Not saying he did anything bad, just unimpressed. His fastball was 92 most of the time, and it had 94 once. As baseball said, he threw one slider and besides that didn't throw ant offspeed stuff. He also struggled with his command a bit. I can't see him coming up to the majors for AT LEAST a week and a half, and a more realistic timetable is probably early-mid August. I took some pictures and videos with my phone (so it obviously won't be good quality), and I'll post them here shortly.
  10. I'm not going to bash this guy for no other reason then I have been in his shoes before. With that being said, I don't think it has any merit to it and I don't believe any more or less then I did when I left for the Chiefs game this afternoon that Dunn will or will not be traded. The last two things I heard about Dunn was the Nationals rumor and Yankees rumor, both from Ken Rosenthal. As many pointed out, the Nats one is fishy. Also, the Yankees one was based off of the Reds scouting the Yankees A ball team. To me, that would be more of an indication of a possible Hatteberg or Weathers deal then Dunn deal. I have yet to hear anything about Dunn to the Cubs. I've heard Brewers, Yankees, Nationals, both L.A. teams, and the Padres but no mention of the Cubs.
  11. So are you saying that Ronny Cedeno's basement level of productions is something close to the .291/.352/.486 that Lopez put up in 2005? Huh? Where did I say that? I have no idea what that post meant. You won't be getting 2005 Lopez in a trade.
  12. The Reds would be out of their mind to trade Harang. There's no chance that they do.
  13. Lopez is at best a lateral move.
  14. That's nice. I'm a forward-thinker. "That's nice", now foward-think this. In Lopez's 7 season, he has posted an OPS above .750 once. That's nice. He wasn't a full-time starter until he was 25 and got a lot of on the job training as a young player. Since then he's been pretty good with most of his OPS being OBP-driven (which means OPS underrates him). That's nice. Remove 2005 and his .258/.321/.399 line ges even uglier. His .294 OBP in 377 ABs this year screams "pretty good job" to me. Did I mention he is an awful defensive SS? That's nice but he's been good two of three years as a starter, which is more than Cedeno will probably say. He's not good defensively, but not anemic. He'll get the job done. He's not any worse than Theriot. No, he's pretty awful defensively. He doesn't have good range, and makes alot of errors. You can remove all of his career stats you want and focus on his two good years (although last year wasn't even good), but that doesn't change the fact for the majority of his career, including this year, he has been bad. His bad defensively, and his offense doesn't do anything to make up for it. This year, his offensive troubles have added to is defensive troubles. There's no reason to go out and give up something for a guy like that. He is at best on par with Theriot.

  17. Lopez can't field and hasn't hit this year. Deadly combo.
  18. You're welcome.
  19. The Reds can keep Conine...The Cubs will take Griffey for Murton, Eyre, Petrick or Gallegher. The Cubs will take it, but the Reds won't.
  20. If the Reds were to trade Conine for Jacque, it would have to mean they are moving Griffey or Dunn.
  21. You've seen Pena play defense right?
  22. What if he doesn't become a free agent? That was why I said, unless they allowed to negotiate an extension. Sure it's not a dumb move if they can negotiate an extension. But to give up players without that assurance when you are out of the playoff hunt is dumb. True. However Dunn loves Bowden, and with the Nationals moving into a new park I don't think it would be too hard for them to work out an extension. You may be right, but that extension would need to be worked out in the 72-hour window. If not, Bowden would be incredibly stupid to just take a chance on it. Maybe it is incredibly naive of me to think this, but part of me thinks Bowden would trust Dunn enough to deal for him if he thought they were close enough on a deal. Bowden was really close to both Dunn and Kearns. Just adding to the points about Dunn being in favor of going to D.C., he would be reunited with his best friend Austin Kearns.

Theo loves the OBP. Cashman has lots of cash. Cashman could use a 1B. Cashman loves the OBP. And what is your point? Also, there have been published reports about the Yankees not wanting Dunn.
