  1. What if he doesn't become a free agent? That was why I said, unless they allowed to negotiate an extension. Sure it's not a dumb move if they can negotiate an extension. But to give up players without that assurance when you are out of the playoff hunt is dumb. True. However Dunn loves Bowden, and with the Nationals moving into a new park I don't think it would be too hard for them to work out an extension.

  5. Thanks for hooking flames, baseball, and myself up Karen.
  6. It will be interesting to see if the Reds involve Hatteberg into the deal. Salty has been playing 1st base for the Braves, so this way they get a SP and a 1st baseman. I think I would ask for another prospect if Hatteberg was added into the deal, though. Maybe a lower level pitcher. You think the reds should ask for another prospect from the braves?!?!? Arroyo has been absolutely brutul up until late. Hes signed to a fair contract, I don't see the point in trading for him when they can probably go out and find a guy like him in the FA market for the same pricetag. As somebody who watches just about every Reds game, him struggling had more to do with Narron then it did Arroyo. He's been pitching MUCH better since Narron got canned. While (as I acknowledged) he has pitched better lately, can you explain how Narron was the cause? I could be wrong, but I thought his turn around started before Narron was gone. Just competley abused his arm. Well over 100 pitches everytime out, coming off a 240 inning year and pitching on the MLB tour in Japan. It was terrible to watch. Narron was managing to save his job, and it showed on Arroyo's arm. 114 pitches in his first start after narron got canned. Additionally, if anything Narrons abuse is going to taint him moving forward. Look at what happend to his numbers after the 130 pitch effort in San Diego.

I think I would ask for another prospect if Hatteberg was added into the deal, though. Maybe a lower level pitcher. I don't think Hatteberg would be enough for the Braves right now. Whether or not they should, they won't. They value Salty very highly. It wouldn't be enough? Hatteberg is a .300 hitter who walks alot. Arroyo, who is beginning to come back to form now that Narron is gone, would a great addition to their staff and is probably the best SP on the market. I don't see the Braves getting a better offer then that. And then they choose to keep Salty for now since there under no pressure to trade him. Hatteberg and Arroyo are a substantial upgrade over Salty for THIS year. If they want to win THIS year, then they would do the deal. I honeslty don't know, as a Reds fan, if I would trade Arroyo for Salty straight up. Man, as a neither fan, if I were the braves theres no way I'd trade Salty for Arroyo straight up.And I don't even disagree with you. Sometimes, a player is of greater value to a team then another. In Arroyo, the Reds have a #2 starter to go along with Harang. With a team that's had awful pitching for years now, it's a great assest to have. Arroyo is very valuable to the Reds. Probably more so then he is to the Braves. There's no pressing need to deal Arroyo.

  10. yeah, but my guess certainly wasn't rhiab insulting vance's parental abilities. Yeah, thankfully that derailed the reds44 hating which based on the last thread and the board this week could have been brutal and long. no hate was intended. He said his "source" called him. I just pointed out there was a better source that had reported the trade as completed four hours ago. No hate; just posting the facts. Didn't mean you, Vance. Just thought it could have spiralled out of control when someone posts that they heard from an inside source about a trade that went down and was made public like 5 hours before. Especially with all the crap that reds44 has taken lately. But you've been able to take the brunt of the wrath. I'm always up for the task. Bottom feeders like to attack the ones who are at the top. ;) ARE YOU KIDDING ME? It's getting old. All of this stuff is getting old.

  16. He's so bad I didn't even know the Yankees had a backup catcher.
  17. And away we go. Who derailed the thread this time?
  18. Actually, it wasn't. Obviously I am behind tonight.
  19. Just got a call from a source saying Molina is going from the Halo's to the Yankees. More to come.
  20. Out of all the options, Griffey makes sense. It just seems like a fit. Except for the cost to get him. The issue with Griffey is the Reds will likely want a package that includes one of Hill or Marshall, and without adding another starter, the Cubs can't afford to pay that price. I think the Reds would be willing to package Kyle Loshe into any deal. He's going to be traded, the question is where.

  22. I think if the cubs REALLY wanted Griffey, they could get him. Package Marshall, Epatt, and Murton together, and take a bad reds contract along the way. Too bad that probably would not be in our best interest. Honestly, I would have a hard time saying no to that deal.
  23. What could the Cubs offer for Griffey? I think we're past the point where we were a few years ago of the Reds be willing to dump him off basically just to get rid of his salary. Griffey to the Cubs does make alot of sense though. I would look into dealing Griffey, but I don't think Krivsky has the forsight to see that.
  24. Does it matter if the production is from power or getting on base? Production is production. If we're not going to play Murton, trade him to a team that would value his services (im looking at you Billy Beane). Trade Murton+ for a guy like Swish. Why would Beane deal Swisher for Murton?
