  2. Your primary error. Yeah I'm a big baseball fan and I have been to Victory Field maybe 10 times. Though when I was a kid I won the seat contest twice and went down to the dugout to get a team autographed ball. Can't remember who was all on the team, I do remember Pokey Reese.
  3. he must have found himself a massive slumpbuster the other day. its too bad we are heading into the all star break. although maybe he hits the gw hr in the all star game which might be the clutchiest of all things clutch.
  4. Chumley's, Joe's on 86th St., Ale Emporium, Fox and Hound or Champps should all have the game tomorrow in the Indy area. I'd prefer not to make that drive although I do like Chumley's...I know Joe's and Bubbaz over in Camby will be playing it. They always have the Cubs games on. Its not like Indy has another baseball team to root for. I was talking about a house party, and while I will be going to one later that night looks like I'll be all my lonesome unless I wanna watch it with non Cubs fans. Not a big deal.

  6. Marquis is like the chick you picked up at the bar. You got drunk and thought it was a good idea at first. Then you found out how bad she was and you couldn't get rid of her in the morning.
  7. i feel like a little schoolgirl waiting for saturday to arrive. if there were more cub fans around me here in indy id throw a party and we would drink bud light lime and eat tacos.

Well my Pinemeadow Excels showed up today so I took em out for a spin - fantastic. I could not be happier with this purchase. I usually top the ball about 4-5 times on a given 9 holes. Today I topped the ball exactly 0 times. Every single ball I hit went high and straight. I never consistently had such a great mid-long iron game as I had today. Thanks a lot to Banedon for linking this site up. Best $150 I ever spent on golf. Can't wait to get out there again.
  9. I'm happy that Murton is free. It sucks to lose Gallagher but you can't complain. This is gonna be one hell of a second half.

That's a lot of how my game is...except I usually slice my drive and have to recover with a nice iron shot. There was a hole the other day when I played...a long par 4. Perfect drive down the middle of the fairway. Then my iron shot went into a creek. So I reshot from where I was at - ya we kinda cheat like that - Perfect 7 iron shot to the green. I make my putt. If its not for the disaster shot I shoot a birdie. Just need to play more so I have that consistency.

Sweet...I'll be curious to hear what you think! This is my 3rd in a row it looks like. Did you order that iron set yet? I'm just curious as to how long it will take for them to get here.

I'm not sure how I missed this when I posted last. When I golfed 9 holes the other day I had some fantastic shots. Great chips and a couple approaches on the green from about 150 yards. I still topped the ball a good 5-6 times. When I purchased those new clubs I followed the advice of that sizing chart and got them at +1. I'm about 6'2" with shoes on and so I should be able to have the club flat and swing comfortably with relative ease.

Well after looking on ebay for hours last night and some today...I watched a whole bunch of clubs exceed my budget. So I followed the Pine Meadow site someone posted earlier and started researching the clones. I pulled the trigger on the Callaway X-18 knockoffs - http://www.pinemeadowgolf.com/golf-clubs/irons/irons.i9199e.html If anyone cares I'll post a review after I get a round in.

Definitely. A couple sets I was thinking of pulling the trigger on flew out of my price range already. Just know what you want to pay and bid it as your max. If you lose so be it you will find something else.

Sounds like a lesson or two would be better than new clubs. If you're topping the ball that's usually because you're either standing too far from the ball or your swing is too long. Having another pair of eyes look at your posture might help a lot. A shorter, more compact swing should help you make more solid contact. Ah I'm not looking for a lesson. Its not like this is the most important thing to me - I want to self teach myself and if I get help I want it to be free. I can get the ball in the air regularly its just that I find it to be an uncomfortable swing. I also get a lot of drag cause I dig in often to get the ball up. So i decided to swing at the driving range the way I felt most comfortable and I was making strong contact but just topping it. The way I see it moving away from my beginner clubs and perhaps adding an inch of length will do wonders - at least I'm willing to invest $150 on this theory. Once I play for a month I'll get lessons in the hope of learning to do more with the ball - as in how to better spin it, type of shots, etc.

The length should refer to the distance from the end of the grip to the sole of the club, or more precisely, the point at which a line formed by the sole intersects the line formed by the shaft. Club length should not vary according to hosel length. Unfortunately, manufacturers seem to measure length differently. My Pings at 1/2 inch over standard are the same length as my new Taylor Made irons, although the Pings measure 38.25" while the Taylor Mades measure 38" according to the manufacturer. Perhaps a more important measure is lie angle. Lie angle is an important component of fitting. That is the angle between the line formed by the sole and the line formed by the shaft. Lie angle is another measure that varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. So is lie angle basically your trajectory? If I'm looking for something to help me get the ball in the air am I looking for a higher lie angle? Perhaps some degree above standard?

The Adams Idea irons I bought on eBay with a 4 hybrid cost me $99.95 shipped. I love how they feel, though I've only tried them on the range so far. If you can try them out somewhere, I'd do it. They're a bit older but mine look and feel great. Just curious - how tall are you and do you know the length of your irons? I'm 6'4", 6'5"ish. My clubs are the standard length, whatever that is. I used to top everything with my generic beginner clubs, but I'm getting pretty good lift with these. Yeah, I came upon a chart that said generally being 6'1" or over +1 in. over standard length. I don't know how accurate that is - but I have to imagine with the clubs I'm seeing I'll get a lot of help from their lower center of gravity and MAXIMUM FORGIVENESS! Hah, I'd like to see a plus 1 set but I think standard should be fine - its probably more my swing and crappy clubs.

I'm in the market for some new clubs as well. I'm ok with the woods but I am looking for some new irons. The bigger and hybrid ones mentioned in here would be preferred. I top the ball a little too frequently for my taste. I would like to find longer clubs. I would rather go to a shop and hit with them first but I may not find a deal and therefore am looking at used sets online in case. My question is when the iron set refers to its length is that the measurement of the shaft before it reaches the actual iron or from the absolute bottom of the club to the top? Also, if anyone else is looking around and stumbles upon an iron set - with a hybrid if possible that's under $150 I would appreciate a heads up. I don't want to make a big investment on clubs I haven't swung.
