Barrett as stated he feels that he owes the Cubs because they gave him a shot out of Montreal. He had a terrible year behind the plate and yet the Cubs traded for him anyway and he has done nothing but produce and produce well offensively. With his experience with the pitchers and being one of the best hitting catchers in the leauge I would rather have him play this whole year out and see what he asks from this team. I have no doubt he will give the Cubs a hometown discount at around 3 years. From the way he looks he will be able to hit well for another 3 years while providing the same non spectacular defense that is not that big of a liability.

The Cubs almost have to start Miller again; and I predict they will. The only other options are to stick him in the bullpen or release him. If Miller doesn't show improvement in his next start, they will probably consider other options (including skipping the 5th spot if necessary). The Cubs will start Miller again, he is on a short leash per se but not that short. Another start like the one tonight and they will give Guzman a start. An improved start and he gets to keep going. Lou is not gonna fool around and let someone who needs plus control to win missing his spots. He will put Guzman in there which he has said countless times how much he likes because he has the stuff to miss his spots occasionally. I personally am looking forward to it, I would like to see the 5th spot being Guzman or a strengthened Prior later on in the year.
