  1. Fixed. I'm not ready to write off the Rockies just quite yet.
  2. That whole scene will stay with me for a while.... Aramis cranking it/flipping the bat, the crowd erupting almost immediately, Len going nuts on the call, and the just continuous jubilation by the crowd. \:D/
  3. I would rather face LAD than ARI, but that said... we'd get HFA for the series and with that going for us, I'd take our Z/Harden/Dempster trio vs their Webb/Haren/Johnson matchups. That's assuming of course that the normal dominant Z shows up and not his evil twin we've been seeing in his last few starts.
  4. I know, its dumb, and only asking for trouble (aka jinxes), but I can't help it. After getting to 82-50/83-50 and games like tonight's (84-50!), its hard not to look ahead to playoff clinching possiblities.
  5. I'm all about a boring September 8-) I'm all for going 5-1 in the next 6 games [3 vs PHI and 3 vs HOU] and be well on our way to sealing this deal! Even if the Brewers and Cards went 5-1 in the same span, it would be Cubs 89-51 / MIL 82-57 (6.5) / StL 79-61 (10.0) but would reduce our numbers. Like, if Cubs went 11-11 in remaining 22 games [100-62], MIL would need to finish 19-4 to overtake us and StL 22-0 to keep us out of the playoffs. So yeah, Cubs, go 5-1 in last 3 vs Philly and the 3 vs the Astros, and you'll clinch a playoff spot effectively! :clapping:
  6. Updated standing/playoffs numbers after tonight's AWESOME comeback win; NL Central: CUBS 84-50 -- MIL 77-56 6.5 StL 74-60 10.0 NL Wild Card MIL 77-56 -- StL 74-60 3.5 [NYM 74-60 3.5] PHI 73-61 4.5 28 games remaining for Cubs, Cards, [Mets], & Phils. 29 for Brewers. - Cubs go 13-15 (97-65), MIL needs to finish 21-8 to win Central - StL 24-4 / PHI 25-3 to keep Cubs home - Cubs go 14-14 (98-64), MIL needs 22-7 finish for Central - StL 25-3 / PHI 26-2 to keep Cubs home - Cubs go 15-13 (99-63), MIL needs 23-6 finish for Central - StL 26-2 / PHI 27-1 to keep Cubs home - Cubs go 16-12 (100-62), MIL needs 24-5 finish for Central - StL 27-1 / PHI 28-0 to keep Cubs home - Cubs go 17-11 (101-61), MIL needs 25-4 finish for Central - StL 28-0 to keep Cubs home - Cubs go 18-10 (102-60), MIL needs 26-3 finish for Central - Cubs win WC from here on, if unthinkable .897 Brewers winning % occurs from starting tomorrow through September Cubs just need to finish .500 rest of the way, and they should be golden for winning the division and NL HFA.
  7. CUUUUBS WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ARAMVP!!
  8. Marmol better be getting up, and QUICK! Don't be hardheadedly stupid, Lou!!!
  9. Plz be good, Woody, plz be very good!!! :beg:
  10. I LOVE YOU, CHARLIE MANUEL!!!!!!!! :yahoo:
  11. Manuel taking out Hamels = Cubs savior! CMON CUBBIES!!
  12. Fielder saw Perez as supper. "Food! Must kill it so can eat it!! ....... oops"
  13. I love Aaron Miles (tonight)! 5-3 StL now!!
  14. If you find a way to blow this now, Cards, I'm forever going to severely dislike your organization!
  15. He better grow eyes in the back of his head. FatBoy may be using him as his next "shove toy" after that.
  16. 3-all and still no outs, Glaus on 2nd. All Hail Mr Villanueva! But wow did the Cards get lucky there... Cameron's throw was way off. Ludwick should have been MEAT.
  17. It was classless, but it woke the Cards up. Thx Villanueva!! :clapping:
  18. He did it directly at StL's bench. I dislike the Cardinals, but that was totally classless.
  19. Ok, so because I'm really bored and a complete nerd sometimes... here's a long post about our final record/playoff possibilities. [Cubs are 83-50, MIL is 77-56 (6.0 GB), StL is 74-60 (9.5 GB), & PHI is 73-60 (10 GB).] We have 29 games remaining [13H / 16A]. If you calculate it out using the winning percentages for the games, both H & A, the Cubs will finish 17-12 [9-4 H / 8-8 A], & 100-62 overall. I could see 8-8 on the road - if not 9-7 or 10-6, too (depending on when we clinch the Central/HFA) - but I'd maybe change the home finish to 8-5; that gives us leeway to split the 4 vs PHI, and win the series (2-1) vs all of HOU/StL/MIL. If we win 3 of 4 vs PHI, I will think about guaranteeing 9-4 and maybe even 10-3, if can sweep the Carlos Lee-less Astros, which follows the PHI series. We'll start at the bad end of the spectrum and work our way up; - If Cubs go 13-16, finish 96-66, MIL would have to go 20-9 to win the Central / StL would have to go 23-5 & PHI 24-5 to keep us out of the playoffs - If Cubs go 14-15, finish 97-65, MIL would have to go 21-8 to win the Central / StL would have to go 24-4 & PHI 25-4 to keep us out of the playoffs - If Cubs go 15-14, finish 98-64, MIL would have to go 22-7 to win the Central / StL would have to go 25-3 & PHI 26-3 to keep us out of the playoffs - If Cubs go 16-13, finish 99-63, MIL would have to go 23-6 to win the Central / StL would have to go 26-2 & PHI 27-2 to keep us out of the playoffs - If Cubs go 17-12, finish 100-62, MIL would have to go 24-5 to win the Central / StL would have to go 27-1 & PHI 28-1 to keep us out of the playoffs - If Cubs go 18-11, finish 101-61, MIL would have to go 25-4 to win the Central / StL would have to go 28-0 & PHI 29-0 to keep us out of the playoffs and PHI - If Cubs go 19-10, finish 102-60, MIL would have to go 26-3 to win the Central and Cubs would win the Wild Card. regardless if Brewers did go on an amazing .897+ run to finish this season Basically if we can keep the pedal to the medal and finish 19-10, or better, we are 1000% guaranteed at least the Wild Card playoff spot.
  20. Hey hey! Won't be a shutout. Ludwick does yard work. 3-1 MIL
  21. Mets are in the midst of a huge inning vs Lidge. Just ended, but NYM scored 4 to take the 6-3 lead in the 8th in Philly. If you believe in the superstition of "opponent lost in a tough way before playing them" is bad, then welp........
  22. Minnesota tied up SEA at 2, b6 now. Course, it was 2-2 for most the game last night and SEA won it, 4-2, in 11.
  23. Kinda OT, but I'm thinking the Dodgers move to get ManRam is gonna backfire [at least for the remainder of this season]. 3 back of ARI (if 5-2, SD over ARI score holds) and other than about a week ago, haven't really threatened the D'bags out in the West. Still got 30 games left for both teams, after toinght, however I just don't see the Dodgers pulling it out; unless Arizona goes into another big slump like they did back in May-June.
  24. Brewers just annihilated the Cards tonight. Moving them 4.5 behind the Brewers (5 in the L column). Unless they salvage the split tomorrow, I'm ready to close the book on the T*birds. Looking more and more like the Brewers' main competition for the WC spot will come from Philly or the Mets.
  25. That would be a very good thing! We need to rack up those wins vs the "cupcakes", as the last 2 weeks of the season, we gotta run the gauntlet.
