    Just chiming in real quickly with my two cents on the rain... It's really lightening up right now, and should be down to a mere drizzle before 10:00. I agree with above posters that if they were going to call the game, they would have done it by now. With only 4 innings, hopefully 3.5 innings to go, they could still get the game finished by midnight in a realistic scenario

I would consider just shutting him down for the year as whatever small hope the Cubs had of a contribution from him this year is completely gone now. Might as well shut him down. Really don't need him at this point in the season. Even if he were to contribute for us late in the regular season, there's no way the Cubs would even consider giving him a spot on the playoff roster.

    He won't be here next year so that's not an issue. you're so sure that Hendry won't be duped into a 4 year deal based on this season? i'd rather make a run at one of the brewers' aces. We're talking Hendry here though, he likes to reward players when they don't deserve it (Neifi, Blanco), imagine what he'll offer to someone who is actually good Would something like a 3/30 with a 12M club option for the 4th year do? that would be a hometown discount I could see Demp being one of those guys who'd settle for a hometown discount. Could be wrong, but it seems like he's appreciative to Hendry for giving him the chance to revive his career here, and he's playing for a winning team that should be good for several more years.
