  1. he had 25 strikeouts in July, but only 5 so far this month Fuku's Ks are down, but his overall approach at the plate has been awful this month.
  2. 70 pitches through 4 for Campillo. I second your sentiment about getting to him early.
  3. Nicely done, Sori -- 5-0 Cubs Looks like he was going to admire that for a little... then said oh poop, I gotta run this out
  4. Cards have runners at the corners with 1 out trailing 1-0
  5. Thanks Bob, we really needed to hear that.
  6. Man, Harden's got some wheels. He really should be our defauly pinch runner over Marquis.
  7. LOL @ Plesac calling Marquis one of the best, if not THE best 5th starter in the majors.
  8. I have a feeling we'll probably end up seeing Fontenot at 2B, DeRosa in RF, maybe Ward at 1B tonight???
  9. 26 over sounds even better than 25 over. And a magic number under 40 wouldn't be awful either. Make it happen boys.
  10. 1. Zambrano 2. Dempster 3. Soriano 4. Soto 5. DeRosa Honorable Mention: Edmonds, Theriot, Ramirez
  11. The Marlins happen to be that 1 NLE team Id just assume not win the WC. Just as soon. You'd rather face the D'Backs than the Marlins? I think he was saying that the Marlins stand a smaller chance of winning the WC compared to the Mets or Phils. I would much rather see the Mets or Phils win the WC vs. the Marlins. And the way things would probably stack up, if the Marlins did win the WC, guess who would have to play them. That's the whole point. If the WC comes out of the East, we avoid the D'Backs for at least the first round. We definitely dont want to deal with them. With Dunn and Johnson, they're pretty much built to beat us. But then again, we would likely have home field advantage in that first series. Not sure how much of an advantage home field would be in that series... Dunn, Young, Drew, etc have all had success at Wrigley... Plus Webb, Haren, Johnson in any ballpark against us doesn't spell much in the way of success.

If the WC comes out of the East, we avoid the D'Backs for at least the first round. And my point was that not only would that spare us a meeting with the DBacks for at least the first round, it means that the Brewers wouldn't be a factor either... My primary reason for wanting the WC to come out of the East is to A) Delay a matchup with the DBacks for at least one round, if not altogether and B) to avoid any matchup with the Brewers, esp. considering that Gallardo might possibly be back by mid-Septemer, and more likely ready for the playoffs.

  14. The Marlins happen to be that 1 NLE team Id just assume not win the WC. I'd agree with you on that. I'd have no problem with the Mets and Phillies finish 1-2 in that division, with the 2nd place team being the WC. The Mets or Phils don't scare me nearly as much as the Brewers and/or DBacks. Granted, there's a good chance that the DBacks would beat the NL East winner, and the Cubs would have to face them in the NLCS if they were to advance.... but I would much rather go Mets/DBacks or Phillies/DBacks to get to the WS than to go DBacks/Brewers.
  15. Brewers go in order in the 1st
  16. Remember those Murton for Byrd rumors???
  17. Gord Ash, the Brewers Asst. GM apparently says Braun will be out 2-4 more days. http://www.madison.com/tct/sports/brewers/300340
  18. I'm personally torn on this.... I'd much rather see the Cardinals go away, due to the fact that they really have no business being here altogether. Secondly, I think I'd prefer to see the WC come from the NL East. Part of me really doesn't feel all that comfortable about facing the DBacks in the NLDS, assuming they win the NL West. The whole Dunn, C Young, Drew, Johnson, Webb, Haren combination just doesn't sit well with me... Having the Dbacks vs. the NL East winner would seem to play out better in my world, especially if it goes 5 games with all the coast to coast travel. I like the idea of an NLDS against either Philly, the Mets, or the Fish a lot more than I like it against the DBacks. PLUS.... in that scenario, the Brewers don't make the playoffs, and there's no worry about us facing them in the NLCS (assuming we were to get there). I know what we did to the Brewers two weeks ago, but they still do scare me enough. In conclusion, I guess what I'm saying is that I think I'll be rooting for any NL East team to beat any NL Central team (except the Cubs), thus propelling the Cubs to the division championship, and an NL East team to the WC. Make sense? Getting back ever so briefly to the debate about whom to root for or root against... I'm even more firmly hoping that an NL East team takes the WC.... I just saw something about Gallardo being cleared to throw off a mound, and mentioning possibilities of him being back in September...I would not like the thought of him being in that rotation in a playoff series. http://brewersfandemonium.yuku.com/topic/13662/t/chance--Gallardo--September--October-Latest-Yo-cleared--thr.html?page=5
  19. I'll take it. Cards-Fish still in rain delay. Radar still looks like pretty hard rain for awhile. Just shut it down, umps! Rain just parked over Miami -- Might as well just call it lol
  20. Every single player has reached base tonight through 5.5 innings Only one player (Kevin Cash) has not gotten a hit Only three players (Michael Young, Ramon Vasquez, Coco Crisp) have not scored a run.
  21. 15-14 Texas now -- and Hamilton only has 1 RBI
  22. 14-11 now with Texas batting in the 6th and the tying run at the plate with nobody out.
