  1. Dunn has great walk totals and power. His inability to hit for average will always keep him from becoming an elite offensive outfielder. His defense is very below average. His baserunning is below average. Love of OBP is great, but there's more to this game than walks and home runs.
  2. Dunn isn't a Hendry guy. He can't play defense worth a crap. He strikes out so freaking much it's ridiculous (Hendry likes guys who move runners along and hit sac flies). I don't think Hendry minds the walks contrary to public opinion, but he's far more interested in BA w/ RISP and X outs. Dunn's also approaching FA. I'd think Hendry would take Murton over Dunn, and I'm not so sure he'd be wrong. Given Dunn's salary, impending free agency, lack of defensive skills, and just flat out lack of tools (besides power), there's no way we value him enough to overbid other suitors who would be after his services should he come available. Not to mention it is an intra-division trade and the price would likely be higher for us than others. I like Dunn, but he's not a good fit for this ballclub. I can just see Z and the donkey going at it b/c he butchered yet another routine line drive.
  3. No one could have managed these last two Cubs teams to the playoffs. Dusty makes some moronic in-game decisions, lineups, and comments, but he's not the big problem. MacPhail, Hendry, and the Tribune's bottom line are.
  4. I almost feel sorry for the team that gets Zambrano, the FA.
  5. Rich Hill is a beast. 'nough said.
  6. "Know-it-all rookies" wasn't what I took from Baker's statements. Sullivan needs to stop twisting words. Dusty says enough stupid crap w/o putting words in his mouth.
  7. It's fitting that Hank White drove in the winning run b/c he cost us a run on that failed squeeze bunt. But, hey, that's why baseball is awesome. Hank White for President!!
  8. The Riot with a quality bunt single.
  9. Whoohoo. Great decision to leave Hill in, Dustbag. Don't let the door hit you where the Good Lord split you.
  10. Because Dusty is our manager. We won't have to put up with this crap much longer.
  11. Hill's line so far: 6.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 4 H, 2 BB, 5 K, 1 HR 101 pitches (66 strikes)
  12. Clark homers to LF. Into the wind no less. Graffanino singles to CF. Cirillo lines out to CF. Hall struck out looking on 3 pitches. 8) Hill strikes out Hart to end the inning. Hill at 101 pitches. 1-0 Brewers.
  13. Mabry absolutely got his butt handed to him in that AB. Murton gets caught in the rundown. Looks like he thought the squeeze was on. Blanco missed the sign. &%$#!!!!!!!!!
  14. Rivera pops out to 2B. (7 pitches) Rottino grounds out to SS. (4 pitches) Bush flies out to LC. (2 pitches) 0-0 after 4 and 1/2. Hill's line so far: 5.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 2H, 2 BB, 3 K, 78 pitches (50 strikes) ...Hill's ERA down to 4.07...
  15. Pierre flies out to LF (foul territory) on 4 pitches. Theriot grounds out to 3B. (3 pitches) Jones's chopper to 1B ends the inning. Still 0-0 after 4. Can we get one baserunner? Just one. That's all I ask. Sidebar: Can Jones hit a fastball on the inner half of the plate? I swear, a little leaguer with a 60 MPH heater could blow Jones away up and in. Pathetic.
  16. Hill gets ahead in the count 1-2 and then gives up the line single to RF (Cirillo). Hall singles a hanging curve into left. Should have been crushed, but I won't complain. Runners at 1st and 2nd, no outs. Hart flies out to shallow CF. Runners hold. Bell strikes out swinging after running the count full. Throw to second... Blanco nails the trailing runner at second (Cirillo took off as well). Blancowned!! Inning over, baby! Hill's line so far: 4.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 H, 2 BB, 3 K, 65 pitches (40 strikes)
  17. CUBS are 22-20 when they average 3.4 P/PA or fewer.... 42-74 when they don't  That's more indicative of how crappy our offense is than the overall effectiveness of taking pitches. ...not that that was what you were implying.
  18. Moore strikes out swinging on 5 pitches. Hart pretty much robs Cedeno of extra bases in the LC gap. :x Nice play with the wind. Hill strikes out swinging on 4 pitches. 0-0 after 3.
  19. Hill walks Rottino on 4 straight balls. Rottino stole second base easily. Bush sac bunts Rottino to 3B. Bush out at 1st. Cedeno makes a great catch running back to LF. It was windy as heck too! Runner stays at 3rd. Graffinino pops out to Cedeno. NOICE!!! Hill after 3: 3.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 2 BB, 2 K, 48 pitches w/ 29 strikes
  20. Murton grounds out to SS. (2 pitches) Hall made a pretty decent play in the hole. Mabry grounds out to 2B after running the count full. (6 pitches) Hank White grounds out to 2B. (4 pitches) Still 0-0 after 2. The lack of patience is p*ssing me off. We've seen 24 pitches in 2 innings. Awesome.
