    If that's the best we can get Hendry better be on the phone calling Jones and telling him to suck it up and expect to play CF in Wrigley Field next year. I'm with you 100%.

    Problem is, I don't think the Cubs are willing to play Soriano in center.

    Something I suggested earlier that didn't get much of a response was Jones and Eyre for Lieber and Rowand. I still think it makes a lot of sense. The Phillies get the right fielder they need while opening up center. They also get one of the best lefty relievers in the game. We get a decent starter and stop gap at center.

    I'm not sure why some of you are okay with Marquis for any amount of money. If he's in the rotation for $5 or $5,000,000, it still hurts our chances to win. It's not my money, so I'd rather that they spend it on the best available player.

    Apparently, George Offman of the score has reported that the Cubs are pursuing him. What kind of package do you think it would take to pry him loose from the Rays? It wasn't too long ago they were hailing him as the next Joe DiMaggio.

    Wrong Cardinals starter. If Meche isn't there, we need to push for Suppan, who is a better pitcher anyway.

    I'm not ready to count the Cubs out of the Meche derby until he signs the dotted line. It seems like both sides wanted this to happen pretty badly.

    It seems like Piniella wants Meche here and Meche wants to be here. I don't see this one falling through.

    There's absolutely no chance Floyd will be in the rotation over McCarthy. The only way Floyd makes it in is if the Sox trade another starter, which isn't something I'd rule out.

    You're kidding me! This is old news? I could've sworn I had heard it before, but it was just posted on rotoworld, so I figured I was just going crazy.

    From rotoworld: Orioles signed catcher Paul Bako, who had been with the Royals, to a one-year, $900,000 contract. He can earn $150,000 in performance bonuses. With Ramon Hernandez likely to remain very busy, the Orioles didn't need to spend the money to attract a quality backup. Bako is about as weak of an option as there was out there, but as long as he's limited to 125-150 at-bats, it's not going to matter very much. With boom boom Bynum and Bako how can the Orioles not win the World Series?

    Penny is certainly the best option I've heard. Jones seems to make sense for Dodgers, too.

    are you OK with having Meche in our Rotation? Honestly? Yeah, I am. I think Lilly and Meche are both ideal middle of the rotation guys. And with Zambrano and Hill already here, that's what their role will be.
