  1. Sounds like the radio station bit to early and this is just a rumor.
  2. Someone's gotta listen to the station.
  3. Gwynn is officially in the lineup for Milwaukee.
  4. They're about to report the Brew Crew starting lineup on their broadcast. I'l let you guys know about Gwynn's status.
  5. I've turned on the Brewers radio broadcast. If it's true, they'll surely pick up on it soon.
  6. And he's still hitting for massive power. He's an intimidating guy to have in the middle of a lineup. Maybe I was going too far by conceding the division, but this is certainly something that requires a counter move by Jimbo. They're saying Milwaukee radio is reporting the deal.
  7. Que? How's this known? Someone that has close relations to the Brewers just said the deal is near official. I think I am going to die inside. http://www.realgm.com/boards/baseball/viewtopic.php?t=3284&start=0 I'll definitely give up on the division chase if true, but I'd rather wait for something more substantial. Conceding the division if the Brewers get Dunn is ridiculous. It's not like he's ARod or Vlad or something. I know people love Dunn around here, but c'mon. They're already 3.5 games up without Dunn. He may not be A-Rod, but he'd still make the lineup significantly better.

  9. Bingo. I point to that game as the reason we didn't win the pennant.
  10. Unless he really feels Jake Fox is the answer in right field, I expect him to try to get someone to play there. A starter wouldn't be shocking either, though it would almost certainly not replace the worst guy in the rotation. MLBTRADERUMORS suggests that Fox was brought up to showcase him. They're usually wrong, but I don't think so here. It makes a lot of sense.

  12. [-X I'm not advocating it, just saying I was half expecting it for any Izturis to the Pirates deal.
  13. No. It's not so much that all those guys are super valuable(except Gallagher, who's the best pitching prospect in the system), but including ALL of them at once is a bit much. Fair enough - that is why I asked. OK, so what about Gallagher and Soto? Does that get it done? Reds want more? Considering it's Krivsky, but at the same time other teams are interested in Dunn, I'd start at something like Veal + Petrick with a window to get an extension for Dunn, and work from there. You going to tell me that's a better deal then the Brewers one too? If Cedeno was to be included as well, it's absolutely a better deal than the Brewers offer. Weeks may have more upside than Cedeno, but the two pitchers should entice the Reds more than Gwynn and Wise.
  14. Maybe I'm the only one surprised that this wasn't Izturis for Wilson straight up.
  15. Maybe they are considering that, if they're trying to trade Jack Wilson. which is hilarious, since izturis is more or less a hispanic version of jack wilson At least Wilson really does play excellent defense.
  16. The Cubs don't analyze that particular stat. They just don't over rate that stat. Fox has some power and that is what they are looking for. The completely misunderstand and under rate it. It's why the offense has been so weak for so many years. Is it possible to overrate OBP? If a guy can't get on base in the minors, his power isn't going to show in the majors.
  17. The Cubs don't analyze that particular stat. I wish they'd at least analyze age. As a 25 year old in AA, I'd hope he's putting up pretty good numbers.
  18. Now that I look at Jake Fox's minor league numbers... why are we calling this kid up exactly? His OBP is .327 as a 25 year old in AA.
  19. I'm hoping against hope that there's more to this deal and it involves Xavier Nady. Not counting on it though.
  20. Right now? Several teams. He is Izterrible, but that's better than what San Francisco or Houston is playing, and might be valuable to Toronto, Baltimore, the White Sox, or Seattle. There's absolutely no way Izturis is better than Vizquel. They're both bad at hitting, but at least Vizquel is as good as advertised defensively.
  21. How did I miss all of this? Hopefully the word about Izturis is right, I'd love to see him gone. That said, we'd desperately need Cedeno up to backup Riot.
  22. We value him because he'd be the most productive outfielder we've had since Sammy Sosa circa 2003. Patterson, Murton, and Wuertz? Sold and signed.
  23. Whatever, there's no need to start a fight here. I think the Royals are mucking this up, you don't. We'll just have to agree to disagree.
  24. I'm not sure how Theriot/Fontenot qualify as "more than adequate. Even if you take out Izturis, Cub shortstops have been lousy offensively. To be fair, you can kind of live with Theriot's production for the year from a shortstop. Just not when you've got so many other holes.
