  1. A Matsui/Theriot platoon would be an improvement at shortstop. Not a huge improvement, but an improvement.
  2. Not that good. Not that he did all that well in Coors either.
  3. I'm listening to the Score and they're not saying anything about this deal being close.
  4. Any word on whether the Score reported anything?
  5. I would love for that to be true. I doubt it is.
  6. I love Demp, but it'd be nice to unload his contract on someone.
  7. If we were to get Silva though, there's a logjam... Zambrano Hill Lilly Silva Dempster Marquis Assuming we don't use a 6-man rotation, someone's gotta be forced out.
  8. CDL thinks so. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/cubs/640590,CST-SPT-cub08.article Silva seems like another guy who would thrive in an AL-NL transition. I'd like to have him on board.
  9. Word is that Bruce Levine has been saying that the White Sox are prepared to offer the largest deal in team history to free agent center fielder Torii Hunter. The deal would be five years at $15m per year. At least Hendry wouldn't go that far.
  10. I fully expect Hendry to try and push for Mariano Rivera.
  11. Channeling Brian Sabean here... Murton's way too young.
  12. I don't know how one could suggest that anything involving putting Steve Traschel in your rotation would ever be a good idea.
  13. So this is definitely true... awesome. Not. ](*,)
  14. I think this all but guarantees Prior won't be back.
  15. He's rarely healthy. When he's been healthy, he hasn't been all that good. I know he's got a lot of tools, but I'm not sure why we should give up anything significant for the guy.
  16. To be honest, I wouldn't mind Pettitte at the right price.
  17. I would do that in a heart beat. What is the deal with all of you jumping at the chance to give away Hill, Marmol, and Gallagher? Why in the hell would you give away our best young pitching? [-X It has something to do with the fact that the D-Rays would never do the trade that you'd do in a heartbeat. In baseball, one man's trash is rarely another man's treasure.
  18. Bradley is a really good baseball player, but he's one of the few guys whose character genuinely scares me off.
  19. How about Chien-Ming Wang? He has not only been very effective, but appears to have some solid staying power. Not to nit pick, but he isn't Japanese.
  20. Interesting point that really hasn't been addressed. It can only help in that regard.
  21. I'd love Fukudome. I'd just love him. And I believe it's FOO-KOO-DOH-MAY
  22. Looking at his numbers, I just don't see why one could expect Kuroda to have significantly more success than Igawa did this past season.
