  1. one move and a healthy pitching staff.
  2. Why? Our pitching is MUCH Better, and. . Pierre is Loften (maybe better) of 03 Walk is Walk DLee is Sammy of 03 Ramirez is Alou of 03 Murton is Ramirez of 03 and Barret is Dlee of 03 Our offense isn't really much "worse" as a pesimist might put it, DLee and Ramirez of 03 were not yet the DLee and Ramirez they are today. And we have a couple youngesters which are going to do very good this year, as well aside from Prior and Wood having carreer years, we really didn't have much else in the pitching. Look, you can be a bitter Cubs fan if you want to. But don't bring it my way!! Wohooo!! Go CUBS!! You guys do realize that Lee was a Marlin in '03, right? and a world champion . . .
  3. Wolf - what do you think the odds of your starting five throwing 160 starts again is? I would say about zero. With that in mind, what do the Cards have for a 6th and 7th option? The Cards have also had some favorable breaks lately - I think there is a decent chance they get some bad breaks and finish sub-90. I don't disagree that they are still the team to beat, but they are beatable this year moreso than the previous two.
  4. the illini lost because they didn't play defense.
  5. I think what you(and me as well) were looking at the perspective of what was actually called, and they are looking at what would've happened had only Williams been called for a T. which is what the ACC is saying should have occurred.
  6. not a double technical - a single technical on Duke. The double technical was called.
  7. They're all very Cub-like moves. Hope for the best, and have no real plan B. All the guys they signed are high risk, high reward (with the exception of Overbay who's pretty solid. If it works out for them, I would love it just to keep Boston and NY down for a year or two. I agree - right down to Overbay who is solid but fairly mediocre.
  8. \\ glaus's health is no given either. I don't much care for their moves really. molina should hit a good bit better there than in Anaheim.
  9. I missed the beginning of Bilas's bit, but he went off on how the end of the BC game was a bad call, but that it was isolated. He was getting kinda upset, with the "unless someone can step forward with empirical evidence or a coach steps up" bit, even though I'm pretty sure there is said evidence that Duke gets calls. Vitale blabbered about how they get all the good players, which makes no sense. He also said that they always slash and attack the basket, which to my brief knowledge appears wrong as well. Phelps hardly said anything. Jay here is some facts. Duke plays three guards, shoots a majority of threes, and plays in your face defense. Those three things are what makes them similar in style to Illinois. Illinois usually fouls more than the team they are playing because they shoot so much on the outside and play good defense. Why wouldn't this then apply to Duke, oh whats that, because they are Duke and all white guys so they get every call. Ok that makes more sense. You don't think a lot of the Duke hate has to do with race? I sure do. It seems to me their most hated players that get every call are all white. Hurley, Laettner, Ferry, Redick, Parks, Dunleavy, and of course Battier. I think all their players get all the calls. I'm not even sure what you are trying to say here. Battier I was trying to make a joke. I think or thought it was common knowledge most duke players were hated because they are white. I mean after all Redick even said that Paulus would be next because he was, "another great, white Duke player that everyone would hate." Maybe that isn't the only reason why people hate them, but it seems like it to me. On the calls, I still think race plays some of an issue with them. I could be way off, but it seems like it to me anyways. Why would people hate white players? Seems to me the white players generally are more popular amongst the largely white fans. Laettner was hatable because he was a priss and he seemed like he never missed. I never hated the other guys so I can't say why other people hate them. You could be right.

  11. That's my understanding too, I think the FTs would've been from the intentional foul. There would have been a technical on williams and FSU would have shot free throws and gotten the ball (maybe).
  12. didn't this story break like 10 weeks ago?
  13. good for bettis answering the question!
  14. I'm sure he needs it too.
  15. Brady must have been cheering for pittsburgh.
  16. I guess the NFL liked the Bettis story better than a fair game.
  17. why run that play?!?!?!
  18. spike it and kick the field goal?
  19. I was cheering for seattle but either way I feel cheated. this game wasn't decided by the players alone.
  20. Lynch
  21. no hold there?
  22. every time seattle has threatened to pull ahead the refs have made a call against them.
  23. the phantom hold completely changed the game. terrible call. the NFL needs to review the performance of the officials throughout the postseason. its embarassing.
  24. and another ridiculous call- how can you be called for a block below the waist while making a tackle?
  25. :( Looking less good as the game goes on, too. nothing against their fans but do their dbs ever shut up? I mean they give up a 20 yard play and are still running their mouth. Now the refs screw seattle again.
