  1. I will risk that potent Cub offense. Contreras's return is not certain from what I have read, but likely. So I am assuming that I can use McCarthy (and possibly a healthy Contreras) as stated above until someone tells me otherwise. I will have a 9-7 advantage in starts over Raw next week, but Josh Johnson and McCarthy will be risky. yes, that is within the rules. They said on tonight's broadcast that he will pitch.
  2. Looks like he's on about a 50 walk pace as well. The lack of power in the PCL (in terms of homeruns) is a little discouraging but perhaps that will come. I see Patterson is holding up pretty well with the double promotion - that's a good sign. And Montanez seems to have finally turned the corner. What else do I need to know about the minors?
  3. I don't know how effective Kerry will be. People react to that surgery very differently. But I'm pretty sure he'll be better than Cain has been so far! not to mention guzman/rusch - or have we given up on the cubs and are focusing solely on fantasy now?
  4. sort of a side question, but how effective do you think Wood will be? I have my doubts that he will be super effective this summer. If it makes you feel better Tim, I'm third in the league in points and 3-3 - I don't know how this schedule turned out this way.
  5. FINALLY!!!! Pettitte with a good start! Rockies suck! You've got Konerko tonight................ he'll have to have a huge game w/ Pettite still scoring a CG, SO, and a QS. Hope he sits! CBS has given Pettite the points for CG and SO. He will get 7 pts for the QS which will put me somewhere in the 259 area. Konerko has to score 11-12 pts for a win. Go Twins!!!!!!!! actually, with TB allowed you will lose an additional 3.75 so konerko needs 8 or 9 to catch up. basically a three run homer would do it at this point. frickin' thome takes too many runners off the bases for konerko. Yeah, I forgot about that. Konerko's out of the game now. He managed 3 pts. 1-4 w/ a 2B and RBI. I got lucky with Chavez missing so much time this week and VMart scoring so low......................... Radke sucks too by the way (2 starts/2 points)........................I thought for sure you'd get me. I have another tough match-up in week 7 w/ NSBB. my offense was down this week - actually scoring was down this week. you had a great last day!
  6. its because Dusty wants a true oligarchy edit: for spelling incompetance your edit needs an edit!
  7. they just said contreras will start next weekend. are you sure you want him in there against the Cubs?
  8. newbie
  9. I don't see any chance of Ramirez opting out unless he really turns it around and posts numbers similar to 2005. In which case, I want him back.
  10. I think the news will come tomorrow since this is more about throwing without pain than any tangible results.
  11. I've been watching the grass turn green. its taking forever.
  12. add walker to your short list. I'm surprised they don't spout off more hoping it will get Hendry to trade them.
  13. yea, the only problem is the guys hitting the cover off the ball are on the other team.

  15. a 4 run deficit is not insurmountable to a lot of big league teams.
  16. "There is no one to blame. It's definitely not Dusty's fault that this is going on, or (pitching coach) Larry Rothschild's fault or any of the player's fault. It is one of those situations that you get into this rut and sometimes it is really hard to get out of it," Williamson said Its just an act of God - the Cubs sound like an insurance company.
  17. well, they came back and won the game lee got hurt in - then they lost 2 of 3 in st. louis but won sunday night and the first two games against florida for a three game winning streak. they lost a winnable game in the series finale against florida and then maddux shut down the brewers. The following day, rusch took them right out of the game and the slide began with two blowouts against milwaukee. Still they won the first game against pittsburgh before being shut down by zach duke in game two. then the trip from hell began. When I look back at that, I think the players got nervous and started pressing after the brewers series. things have just gotten worse and worse. in summary, its all rusch's fault.
  18. I think the players are actually pressing. that and they aren't good.
  19. good news though, no one is to blame. certainly can't blame the manager, coaches or players. maybe blame the fans? or God? "There is no one to blame. It's definitely not Dusty's fault that this is going on, or (pitching coach) Larry Rothschild's fault or any of the player's fault. It is one of those situations that you get into this rut and sometimes it is really hard to get out of it," Williamson said
  20. but do you think that dusty jumped the gun a little bit a couple times? you mean pulling starters too early? maybe early in the season. lately he hasn't had much choice short of just giving up on the game. I think the Cubs are in part paying the price for the young pitchers they are running out there. even if they will be good down the road, they are going to have their days early in their careers.
  21. I don't know if that means they are giving up - that is just how this team is made up.
  22. yea, they are just a bad call taking a run away from SD from winning.
  23. I agree. these games aren't close. they aren't losing because of bad breaks, they are losing because they are a terrible team.
  24. as far as the pitching goes, we've had starters getting knocked out in the 5th and 6th innings all season. Sooner or later the bullpen was going to give in. They are good but not that good.
