  1. Same here, Raw's now within 2 pts after being over 80pts down. I do have 2 starts tomorrow, but I didn't expect to need them. well, tim just lost pujols and wood for tomorrow and bonds hasn't been playing. I think I will get to 300 so he will need a huge last day and a half to catch me.
  2. he needs to start now while he is even more needed.
  3. nevin should be in there everyday in place of the out machine at 2b. platooning walker makes a lot more sense if his platoon partner can hit - in this case its essentially neifi.
  4. absolutely awful. the only thing I could really discern from the broadcast was that the crowd was the largest of the year, which was mentioned at least 12 times in the two innings I listened to, and that tickets were available for the reds series. this guy reminded me of harry in his later years.
  5. that sucks, sort of. too bad the cubs spotted the cardinals 13.5 games. that lineup they have is pretty weak without pujols and edmonds. I was hoping pujols would get 74 though.
  6. if I can't hold you off this week Tim, then I don't know what to say. Mulder didn't do much for me though and the rain is causing havoc. . .
  7. I can see that minor leaguers could be tough to pitch to - I don't see how they are the toughest to pitch to. that makes no sense. By this logic, major league hitters are easier to get out - they clearly aren't so the statement is false. I don't think dusty said it because he is dumb though.
  8. oops, of course I meant they can hit fastballs. FWIW, I don't put any stock in the quote and I'm not remotely worried about what Prior does in his rehab starts. The statement is still nonsense though.
  9. He managed the pitching staff well and wasn't afraid to be creative with the bullpen. I think Ozzie's managerial strength is that he isn't afraid to challenge convention. This will likely also be his downfall.
  10. Many of the things being said by dusty, hendry and MacPhail indicate a frightening lack of understanding of how to win baseball games and they should be questioned. For instance, blaming losing solely on not hitting with runners in scoring position when the team is last in nearly every offensive category - or near last. I think the questioning of every one of his comments is the result of his long track record of silly comments.
  11. I am going to have to completely disagree with this. Minor league hitters are not better than major league hitters. This is just an excuse. Now if you want to say that Prior struggled because he threw mostly fastballs and his fastball isn't up to speed yet, that would make sense since most minor leaguers can hit fastballs (or they would be out of baseball by now). The argument that they swing more is preposterous.
  12. good or bad, I think Dusty has enough pride to want to prove everyone wrong. I just can't comprehend how people as dimwitted as MacPhail and hendry are running this team. I can only hope their comments are not a real reflection of what they think. baker is a waste of money but does far less damage than management in my opinion (although I will immediately turn off any game where neifi is hitting first or second).
  13. let me get this straight, you brought the girl home, then you went to check nsbb and she fell asleep? wow.
  14. sure, unfortunately they still aren't good.
  15. wow, has anyone ever had a major league career consisting of only getting hit in the head.
  16. Get-well wishes: WGN Radio broadcaster and former Cub Ron Santo will miss the weekend series in St. Louis to recuperate from a viral infection that hospitalized him on Thursday. Santo was taking medication and feeling better. Dave Otto will fill in as the color man this weekend. from cubs.com probably not bad news but for people in his health, viral infections can be very serious.
  17. or, it could be that some people enjoy life and like to laugh, while others feel superior by trying to psychoanalyze other people's enjoyment of life.
  18. not only is dusty a failure to bring in big free agents, he is also going to drive away the cubs upcoming free agents. give him an extension and a raise!
  19. seriously, how can you not find that funny - did you miss the USA today article or are you just humorless?
  20. Dusty has lost the team. Is he going to run Zambrano out of town now? Maybe the fans can get rid of Prior by calling him a wuss, Baker can run off Zambrano, and we can get rid of all our good players. Then Neifi can save us.
  21. so what's the issue? Zambrano doesn't like Baker? Who does other than Neifi and Williamson? Anyone who is competitive hates to leave a game after making a mistake - you want to redeem yourself.
  22. Why did that guy even bring that point up? It has no relevance whatsoever. So he just so happened to be Aaron's teammate and just so happened to be batting behind Aaron that day. You know what that's called? Luck. It's not even luck. It's just happenstance. What the hell does it even mean that he was on the on-deck circle? It's like, "Um, OK, thanks for telling us." He's using that as support for his statement that Dusty deserves better. OK. "Officer, I was in the stands at Wrigley Field when Sammy Sosa hit his 62nd home run. Can you let me go with a warning?" Dumbest thing I've ever seen. obviously the pitcher threw henry a strike for fear of baker bunting if he walked aaron.
  23. yea, too many of my hitters are sitting as well - go figure the sox and indians combine for 20 runs and I get a measly 4.5. Funny that you describe floyd as someone who plays frequently . . . Anyway, I put Hudson in but he doesn't pitch until monday.
  24. hopefully they collapse.
  25. Stupid God always making the Cubs lose. they should focus on Christians like the Rockies.
