  1. Me and my buddies had a good laugh at Lou blowing up. Not sure if it was posted but I'd like to remind everyone of this moment in last years baseball history: http://detroit.tigers.mlb.com/news/gameday_recap.jsp?ymd=20060417&content_id=1404599&vkey=recap&fext=.jsp&c_id=det We all know how they performed after he was disappointed with his team. Here's hoping for similar results EDIT: Just watched the clip again... even though we're performing poorly, I love watching Lou complain. Makes me realize how much of a pansy Dusty was.
  2. I've always believed that "curses" is one of the most ridiculously best phrases you can mutter when something doesn't go your way
  3. Even though Floyd is playing well enough to warrant starts, I have to admit, I'm pissed Murton isn't out there.
  4. Is Mike Quade's last name pronounced "Quad-A"? Brenley just said it like that, I thought it rhymed with Suede
  5. I'm watching on MLB.TV, looks fine to me as well
  6. If I'm not mistaken, I do believe that the Mariner's have kept him on a short leash the past two years and not allowed him to pitch any more than a max of 90 pitches per game during that span, as well as monitoring his pitch selection. And now he's thrown 110 pitches in the first two games of the season. Danger, Will Robinson. Of his 45 games started, he has thrown 110+ pitches 7 times. He's thrown over 100 many times, but not often over 110. I don't think he's running the risk of injury when you have to probably get used like Wood did in order to run that risk, who in the first 2 full years in the majors, threw 24 games of 110+ (including 12 of those being 120+). The highest pitch count Hernandez has had in his career thus far is 117. Unless they start letting him throw 120-130 pitches a game, I don't think he's a candidate for DL player of the year any time soon. Oh, and he threw 108 pitches his first game. not that two pitches is a huge deal EDIT: A little math comparison to Kerry Wood Hernandez has thrown 100+ pitches 58% of all his starts. (26/45) In Wood's first two years, he threw 100+ pitches in 78% of all his starts (39/50)
  7. So let me get this straight.... We have a pitcher named Al Alburquerque?
  8. I never understood why so many people underestimate Big Z. I understand the man love for Felix Hernandez, I really do, but IMO he does not have the "3 times the talent" over Z. The ONLY thing that keeps Z from being a TRUE ELITE pitcher is his control, and once that part of his pitching "clicks" on, he would join Johan Santana, as the only pitchers you would "give up the farm" to acquire. Yes I am showing abit of homerism towards Z, but Z has as good of stuff as Felix Hernandez or any pitcher in baseball, without playing in a BIG pitcher's park. But I do wish he had better control. I don't underestimate Big Z. Big Z is incredible when he's on, one of the best. But to say Felix Hernandez doesn't have more talent than Z is a bit ridiculous, IMO. I think Hernandez, if he can remain how he is and keep his cool and keep his stuff in order, he could be better than Johan Santana, if not equal. And I don't think any other pitcher in the league, other than Hernandez, could stake that claim if you ask me. Hernandez just needs to prove it, and after the last two starts he's well on his way.
  9. Who is Jeff Zimmerman? Had to say it. Hmmmm... let's see Rollins, a Top 5 SS with Harang a Top 1 pitchr, for A-Rod, the best player in the game right now (due to Pujols sucking fierce). You've got great pitching and can afford to lose a lesser pitcher. You've also got Jose Reyes. Rollins and Harange for Rodriguez is a steal if you ask me. Unless you have absolute crap on the bench, of course.
  10. I hate Jay-Z as well. He tries to act like he's the most gangster rapper ever, when in actuality he looks like a broke-ass Mr. Cooper. He couldn't intimidate a timid child into forking over his Adam Kennedy rookie card. Best rapper in the game? Personally I don't like rap/hip-hop that much, but Weerd Science kicks ass.
  11. If I'm not mistaken, I do believe that the Mariner's have kept him on a short leash the past two years and not allowed him to pitch any more than a max of 90 pitches per game during that span, as well as monitoring his pitch selection. Not they've unleashed him, and look what they get. Johan Santana incarnate, except he's like 5-6 years younger.
  12. I haven't seen enough of him televised yet to find out, but he seems like he could have the same intensity as Big Z, except he's got 3 times the talent. I'm glad I drafted him :) King Felix has finally arrived. I do believe he's the only pitcher to pitch two quality starts this year and not give up a single run, am I right? What I wouldn't give to see him in a Cubs uni
  13. BP has Fielder knocking in 30HR this year, fwiw
  14. Sooooooooooooo......
  15. rich hill was undrafted??? I just can't have fun with fantasy leagues if it's like shooting fish in a barrel. Rich Hill was drafted, but he was dropped because the guy doesn't like having Cubs on his team. This type of moronic thinking also let me pick up Rich Harden and Delmon Young, who were dropped because the guy looked at their last year stats and thought they sucked and didn't piece together that Young was called up in September and Harden was injured... I also considered picking up Borowski after someone dropped him in favor of a middle reliever. However I do play in a league with people who have played the last 2 years with me, it's just the newcomers who are ignorant. Kinsler Watch: Hit a two run bomb tonight, 3rd of the year.
  16. In other news, that joke is old. In other news, YOUR FACE! [/scrubsreference]
  17. if I didn't have to drop Kendrick to pick up Rich Hill, I'd likely have all 3 on my team in one of my leagues because I too play with morons. I have Upton and Kinsler though. Kinsler's been solid, plus he'll be great if he remains healthy. He could put up some seriously solid numbers. He can potentially put up 15-20HR (maybe more), double digit steals, good RBI numbers, and a modest average. I like Kinsler, personally, but honestly all 3 are good pick ups. I think Upton, however might have the most upside, he could hit for power and has speed, but it's his first year and you'll never know how he performs. Kinsler is more of a sure thing, IMO
  18. BP thinks Young will soon become the best pitcher on the Pads, making Peavythe #2 best pitcher on the team. That's why I drafted him, and he's performed quite well for me. Great deal for the fathers
  19. How many HR will A-Rod have to reach before skeptics start accusing him of roids?
  20. I just signed up today for premium and downloaded the Mosaic feature. I love it. Of course, I don't love watching the Cubs get shalacked by some no name pitcher while the one player who "drives in runs with the glove" has driven them in for the wrong team. :x
  21. In other news, the Earth turns on its axis
  22. Best baseball info sites ever that I use: Baseball Reference - For obvious reasons listed here The Baseball Cube - Solid Minor League stats Baseball Almanac - Historical Info and Record books
  23. Roy Oswalt Ted Lilly Nate Robertson Anibal Sanchez Orlando Hernandez Josh Johnson (DL) My Ian Snell baseball man-crush will force me to say that Ian Snell is just as good a pitcher as El Duque, Sanchez, and Robertson, if not better. The guy is going to be sick, I don't care what anyone says. But then again I'd only trade Snell if I were getting a Top 20 fantasy pick in exchange, that's how much I value him. So don't listen to me, I'm a Snell homer :)
