  1. At 1:37 am. That wouldn't stop a Japanese player. *looks at Kosuke Fukudome*
  2. So the *REAL* reason that Harden didn't pitch for that stretch a month ago for like two weeks was that he had a cortisone shot, not because they were just giving him time off. It's like 2004 all over again. And 2003. And 2005.
  3. Well if you count the 50 he actually missed and the other 35 where he waved at sliders all day long, then yeah. *shrug*
  4. i pulled the data off of b-r. dunno why its different.
  5. Stockton: Billingsley is trying to stay away from Lee (after missing an inside fastball). Gwynn, Martin was set up inside.
  6. Sentence 1: Billingsley is on 8 days rest. Sentence 2: Billingsley pitched a couple days ago.
  7. Think Z's amped up? He's gotten it up to 97. Filthy movement on it too.
  8. I'm curious what the attendance figures looked like when Peavy pitched and when anyone not named Peavy pitched. 29,076 - Not Jake Peavy 34,245 - Jake Peavy This season only.
  9. ist of expectations for tonight: 1. Carlos Zambrano stares down Manny Ramirez after Ramirez admires a home run. 2. Carlos Zambrano yells to himself 10 times. 3. TBS announcers mention the curse and or 100 years 15 times. 4. Alfonso Soriano waves the bat at at least 6 breaking balls off the plate. 5. Derrek Lee grounds into a double play. 6. Bob Howry comes in the game in the seventh inning and gives up a critical home run. 7. Kosuke Fukudome takes a called strike three on the outside corner and looks back at the umpire and says, "Kurenai" 8. Kosuke Fukudome grounds out to Blake DeWitt the other two times up. 9. Mike Fontenot gets a hit. 10. Alfonso takes the worlds worst route to a ball, hops and misses the ball allowing a run to score. 11. Ryan Theriot gets an infield single and three ground outs. 12. Carlos Zambrano swings harder than anyone on the team, and has nothing to show for it, except two home runs. 13. Oh wait, those were hit by Kemp and Ethier off of Zambrano. 14. After the game, Derrek Lee once again says "It's only one loss". Yeah, one loss, and now another one loss, and you've only got two losses to give in the DS, son. 15. Ryan Theriot goes to a backhand and his noodle arm causes three infield singles. I say 10 of those come true.
  10. To be fair, he made that remark before we were losing. he also made it afterwards. But his point was valid. You can jump all over him all you want, but give him credit when he's right.
  11. To be fair, he made that remark before we were losing.
  12. I know, I mean it's not like Jake Peavy's road ERA has been under 3.00 three of the last five seasons or anything.
  13. that explains the new Texas avatar what school will he root for when OU beats the Longhorns down in Dallas? Um, I go to Texas.
  14. I'm a Texan, but my parents are from Chicago and instilled the Cubs in me since I was born. In fact, my first crib had a Cubs blankie, they say.
  15. the fact that harden is harden should make people concerned. hes more mark prior than kerry wood on the injury scale.
  16. Obviously, we won't get him. Obviously, he doesn't have to be moved. Obviously, the Yankees will take note, big time. http://www3.signonsandiego.com/stories/2008/sep/30/padres-peavy-towers-contract/?padres
  17. ---------- October 1 --------------------- Win DS Win CS Win WS Yesterday LAA 45.9791 25.6393 12.5129 TB 51.5756 25.4336 12.8452 CWS 48.4244 15.3718 5.4360 BOS 54.0209 33.5553 19.4431 CHC 71.8831 53.4287 32.2881 PHI 45.2256 13.8896 5.0166 LAD 28.1169 14.0216 4.9657 MIL 54.7744 18.6601 7.4924 I run data myself on this, while my method isn't nearly developed as BPs, I got the Cubs at around a 19% chance of winning. Honestly? 32% is way too high. I had the Red Sox at 30-something last year iirc.
  18. Dear NSBB: The Angels aren't very good.
  19. Cubs in 4, Red Sox in 5, Tampa in 4, Philly in 5. Cubs in 6, Red Sox in 5. Red Sox in 6.
  20. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writers/jon_heyman/09/30/scoop.awards/index.html MVP's 1. Manny 2. Sabathia 3. Howard 4. Lidge 5. Pooh 6. Braun 7. Santana 8. Delgado 9. Utley 10. Berkman 1. KRod 2. Quentin 3. Pedroia 4. Morneau 5. Youkilis 6. Nathan 7. Mauer 8. Dye 9. Hamilton 10. Longoria Cy Young 1. Santana 2. Sabathia 3. Lidge 1. Lee (he calls Lee's season a "Once-in-a-decade type season") 2. Halladay 3. KRod So if Lee had a once in a decade type season, wouldnt that net him an MVP top ten vote? Also.....KRod is the MVP but third in the CYA? Sabathia is 2nd in MVP and 2nd in CYA with #1 in both cases not being the same guy? And the #1 and #2 MVP picks in the NL combined for five months in the NL? ROY 1. Soto 2. Jurrjens 3. Votto 1. Longoria 2. Ramirez 3. Ziegler Even he cant get these wrong MOY 1. Piniella 2. Torre 3. Manuel 1. Maddon 2. Gardenhire 3. Scoscia EOY 1. Hendry 2. Gillick 3. Melvin 1. Friedman 2. Williams 3. Reagins (no Beane?)
  21. 1. I didn't pay attention all year long. I stopped paying attention in April and paid attention when the playoffs started. 2. You're right, I had to add/drop to win....considering in the finals my teams went a combined 15-5 in the 5 offensive categories and 4-0 in saves. Which means just winning one of {ERA, WHIP, K, WINS} either way would have done the trick. It's not like I didn't have a quality rotation in some of those leagues {Ervin Santana, Carlos Zambrano, Rich Harden, Daisuke Matsuzaka, Tim Lincecum}, {Cole Hamels, Roy Oswalt, Johan Santana}, {Tim Lincecum, Chad Billingsley, Rich Harden, Cole Hamels}. I could have won without it, had I tried. Don't be a hater! I proved myself last year winning the NSBB/GRB league. Not to mention, while being in a public league, managing to get that public team into the top 20 overall leaderboard. Is it the best competition? Of course not. Is it easy to go 4-0 in it though? Of course not.
  22. i made fourth place!? outstanding. i didnt touch that league because joining it was an afterthought and it wasnt on my primary name. i won last year, thus winning > 3rd place.
  23. 1. 2.13 Derek Lowe 2. 1.93 Ryan Dempster 3. 1.87 Rich Harden 4. 1.84 Ted Lilly 5. 1.69 Hiroki Kuroda 6. 1.27 Chad Billingsley 7. 1.05 Jason Marquis 8. .71 Clayton Kershaw 9. .65 Greg Maddux 10. -.39 Carlos Zambrano So Lowe moves up, but we still have a three headed monster of 1.8+, only Zambrano isn't one of them.
