wow. then get rid of the "rosters must be set by monday" rule if you don't care about it. because the rule could not be any clearer. Why get rid of that rule if it's only pitchers you can pick up and ONLY if you don't have 7 starts. You can't pick up a pitcher if you already have 7 midweek and have no risk of losing them. The exception is ONLY to get your 7th start. because that's not what the rule says. which is why it needs changed if that's the way we're going to do it now. and what if you have 7 starts in your lineup but you just forget to put a guy in your active lineup one day? should you still be able to pick up a guy off free agency? I'd say no, only if you don't have 7 starts between the guys you have on your roster on Monday.

end of story. agreed, agreed, agreed x 10,000. heck x 1,000,000. however, in this case, he just picked harang up mid-week for no reason other than he didn't have 7 starts. ROSTERS ARE TO BE SET BY MONDAY. on monday, harang was not on his roster. his rotation had NO injuries, demotions, rainouts, retirements, deaths or sex changes. there is no reason he should be able to wait until mid-week to determine who he wants to use as his 7th start. ROSTERS ARE TO BE SET BY MONDAY. Maybe he wasn't home on Monday or had no internet access on Monday. I don't know why he didn't have his roster set on Monday, but I also don't really care if he added the guy on Monday or Thursday. If he didn't have 7 starts and he wished to pick someone up to get that 7th start, I don't see a problem with it. Apparently you do. Who else has a problem with it? Please post here. I have no issue with it, especially if they are picking someone up out of the garbage that is left out there. If that means that they have to drop someone from their roster to make it happen, that's the penalty they have to pay.

Ditto! I offered Stanton, Venters, Singleton, Gibson and 1st pick in prospect draft. I'm thinking the 2nd round pick in the regular draft put Adam over the top in the sweepstakes. Jesus, I'd have taken this out of anything I've seen thus far. I only offered Moustakas, Matzek, and Ramos with my first round prospect pick.

Your opponent this week also only put up 150 points, we don't want your head getting too big ;-). I understand... I'm happy to have 300 pts in all but one week thus far though. Hell, I lost in one of those weeks. Plus, Dunn, Alvarez, and ARod have yet to show up.

Just to let you all know, Tootielicious has now won 2 games this year with only having 5 starts and has won 4 in a row. In both of those weeks that I only got 5 starts, I've scored 300 pts (or close to it). This team is on a roll and is GOOD.

I'm going to take my chances and not pick up any starters. Hopefully 3 of Robert's don't make up the 120 pt defecit. Also, Victorino with the ambulance and out a few days, so he is moved to the bench, Moreland goes to OF, and Alvarez in at U.

I'm debating dropping Bedard to get a starter for tomorrow, but it's a tough decision because I would then have to give up Bedard who could be effective. If you already have the week won, why would you risk weakening your team for future weeks by dropping someone you wish to keep just to get a meaningless extra start. He still has 4 starts left to my 0, so it's not 100% locked up... I'm debating, not entirely sure I'm going to pick up anyone yet. I did grab Bedard off the scrap heap this week.

i've always thought this was allowed. what i don't like is just picking up starters mid-week to get your 7 starts when there are no injuries and no one is being pushed back or whatever. Ahh. I don't think you were making that very clear when you were arguing against adding pitchers to get 7 starts. I can agree with you that you shouldn't be able to add a pitcher midweek if your roster already has the ability to field 7 or more starts. And my argument for may not have been clear, either, but I'm in support of a team being able to field 7 starts for the week, even if it requires that they pick someone up midweek in order to get a 7th start. It's possible that a start that gets cancelled on a Sunday might force someone to not get their 7th start in for the week, but that's part of gambling on a Sunday start happening. Especially if you benched an earlier start in the week knowing you would use a Sunday start. Is my move ok since I brought someone up from my minor leagues?

So, did we decide if a starter gets pushed back and you can't get 7 starts if you can pick someone up to fill your seventh while keeping your roster legal?

I personally agree with what you did to get something for the future. I do have thoughts the same way Tim does about paying draft picks now and trying to get them back in the future post season. That mentality does upset some people around here, but I am personally glad to see it still happening.

My team is finally doing what I thought it could when it was assembled. Up to 3rd in the Power Rankings. Hope they keep it up.
