  1. Congrats The Astros, depending on the players b/c it's an inter-division trade. The Braves are not a hated rival.
  2. HEY!! I CARE MORE ABOUT THE CUBS THAN ANYTHING!! IT IS A LOT DIFFERENT IN CHICAGO, WHERE YOU HAVE TO DEAL WITH BOTH THE CARDINALS AND WHITE SOX!! OUTSIDE OF CHICAGO, YOU ONLY HAVE TO DEAL W/ THE CARDINALS!! He didn't say that you didn't care about the Cubs. He said that he didn't care about you getting picked on by White Sox and Cardinal fans. There is a big difference. Nobody is questioning loyalty on this board. Calm down and caps are unnecessary. It's a lot different in Chicago, okay. I love the Cubs. I may hate the White Sox's guts, but I hate the Cardinals above all. If the Cubs were in a heated race with the Cardinals, I could care less about the White Sox's position. I'd root for the White Sox over the Cardinals.
  3. I'm game. So when Steve Kline suggest that Mark Prior get hit by one, it's wrong, and it's okay for two of us to say it. I'm becoming less and less proud to be a Cub fan with comments lke this. There's a 4-page thread on Ozzie Guillen, a manager with a World Series ring and a competitive team this year, and it's all negative. So many "real" Cub fans talk about how obsessed with the Cubs Sox fans are, and how they're fickle, and don't exist. Judging by this section of the board and half the people that are/were Cub "fans," many of us aren't too far from that either. I feel like making some of you feel like that Sox pitcher last night. Grow up. I find it real tough to criticize a manager who just brought a World Series to a town where our manager does nothing but underachieve and make excuses. Yes, it was wrong, but how many of you wouldn't trade Guillen for Baker? Prior has never pissed off anyone in the papers or on the field (hitting Bonds doesn't count). Buerhle is right up there with Bonds among players who are pricks. Someone who accuses Dempster of being on the juice, says Mad Dog uses spit, says the Rangers use a scoreboard to steal signs, someone who tries to kill Travis Hafner, it's pretty easy to wish for a line drive or a 100 mph fastball to his head.
  4. It's clear the reason: Their hate for the Cubs. It's like the transitive property of White Sox fans being so anti-Cubs is their favorite NL team is the Cardinals. It's sickening. I think from now on I'm just going to call White Sox fans White Sox-Cardinals fans.
  5. A village idiot who needs to be hit in the head w/ a 100 mph fastball.
  6. I think he also accused Dempster of being on the juice. And don't forget him taking shots at the Twins and Indians 24/7. And his attempted murder vs. Travis Hafner last year.

  8. Ozzie should be suspended for ordering a pitcher to hit someone. Actions like this are why he'll never be a great manager.
  9. No. If in the process of us getting Player A from the White Sox we fleece them. Otherwise, we don't do it.
  10. Correction, YOU hate their guts. I'd trade with them in a heartbeat if it was a good trade. A good trade is a good trade is a good trade reguardless of who its with. (The exception to this rule being certain interdivision trades) And if the deal turns out to be a Garland for Karchner deal, with the Cubs getting the short end of the stick, do you want to deal w/ moronic Sox fans shoving it down your throat?? Frankly, I wouldn't care. I don't care about the White Sox. I never have. I don't root for them, I don't root against them. Why should I hate them? They are in the American League, not the National League. I'll save my enmity for teams that matter to the Cubs, and their chances of making a playoff game. Oh, and that enmity extends to people, as well. Jim Hendry, for example. To be fair, its a little tougher when you actually live here in Chicago, but that said, I generally agree with what you wrote. It's a lot different when you live here. I would not be willing to trade with the Sox to help them, possibly, repeat as champions for some guys that might or might not make the Cubs competitive next year (or down the road). Howry and Erye are the type of guys they are missing in their bullpen and could be the thing that puts them over the top (again). I wouldnt do it and I doubt Hendry would either. After all, Kenny Williams has been outspoken about his desire to not play second fiddle to the Cubs; he's said he knows they need to repeat and or be a strong contender for years to come to affect change in their local popularity. I don't see the Cubs aiding him in that process (no matter what they may get in return). If the Cubs seriously consider trading one or both of them, there are other teams to consider... THANK YOU!! My thoughts excatly.
  11. Run w/ an ingrown toenial.
  12. How about Fat GlenDone.
  13. That would be funny. But Ozzie is a competant manager, and he's not going to risk losing Thome's bat for 2 months so he has it for a few games. (See Furcal-Lee collision for explination)
  14. Last year, Fox was coming back from injury and wasn't able to pitch several days in a row. That fact was lost on Dusty, who threw him 3 times in 4 days(64 total pitches) and he threw his arm out for good on that last outing. I'm not defending Dusty or anything, but Fox did say he told Dusty he could go and pitch that night he blew his elbow for good.
  15. So you don't want to fleece, say, the Diamondbacks in a trade? Just the Sox and the Cards? You come off as a Sox-hater first, Cubs fan second. NO!! I like the Cubs more than anything. I only sound like a Cubs fan w/ a White Sox attitude b/c so many fans force me to go into pissing matches. I used to never care about them, I started hating them once I moved to New Trier and once I joined forums and dealt with moronic fans in person and online. "forced"...like at gunpoint? No. I have a very short fuse, and fans inciting me, talking smack about the Garland-Karchner deal, talking about the Cubs losing all the time, relying too much on power, Wood is overrated, etc. All that crap.
  16. Maybe he's just manly enough to play thru the pain, unlike Wood and Prior. Or maybe he hasn't broken down b/c he's built like a horse. Or maybe he does some good conditioning in the winter.
  17. He's a catcher and he plays on artifical turf. I doubt he'll be able to do it as the season goes on. It'll be too much his body.

  19. Well if they draft Prior, they never trade AJ and they don't have Liriano OR Nathon.
  20. So does Bob Howry. And Mark Buerhle hates the Cubs (more from a Cardinals view than White Sox view, though)
  21. Whatever. As for trading with the Cardinals, I would definatly want to fleece them b/c they're in the division.
  22. I would, which is crazy. Spend a few years in Chicago and then we'll talk. Give me a break. The success of the Cubs is priority 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. It doesn't matter who a trade is with, if it makes the Cubs better we should do it. At no point should it EVER be of concern how much flak the fans will take if the trade doesn't work out as planned. You spend a few years in Chicago too and then we'll have this discussion.
  23. How would he lose money!!?? We've got so many revenue streams.
