    Splitting a 2-game series in which you give up 15 runs isn't too bad. And it looks like Williams is well on his way to pitching himself out of that 5th spot.

    The bright side of an extension is that he won't have passed off the horrible Jones deal and another year of Neifi and Rusch at those prices onto another GM. OF course there's time for other such deals.

    I disagree with his bad move list and dumping Sosa as his 3rd best move doesn't say much for Hendry, but what do the other best moves have in common? Yeah, they all occurred before the 2004 season.

    Cheifs won 11-2. Ciamerella went 2-4 with 3 runs scored, 4 RBIs, and the game's only HR. Johnston and Luis Rivera (PHer/2B) also had two hits.     It's just a shame I couldn't find an animated version of the graphic.

    Possibly, but there still needs to be consistency in the ruling. It should be an error based on the scorer's judgment, but if he makes the same drop on what should be a 6-4-3 DP and it doesn't get ruled, then it shouldn't in this case, as well. Just for the sake of consistency. Otherwise that stat loses some of its meaning.

    If it's a judgment call, then the scorer should have given him the error. I've never seen an error called like that on a DP, though, so I'd assume that it isn't a judgment call. Therefore, I don't see how the scorer could have given Lee the error.

    All news stories say the terms were not disclosed. Something mentioned that it was for less than $1million per season. My guess is that it's on a per year basis, but that's just a guess. less than $1 million? The Budwesier house contract is for $300k or so (that's the rumor around the neighborhood) and it's not even official. Well, that seems about right since it's not shown on TV. It's only going to be seen by people at those bars or from the el platform. Not even really by people entering the bleachers. I guess we'll just have to wait until Friday to see if there is going to be anything noticeable from inside the stadium. I just hope it's not as big as you had it, though. I don't see why the Cubs would need to agree to make it that big.

    Hendry had the farm system, payroll, and major league talent but hasn't done much with them. Certainly not enough to deserve an extension. His desire to overspend and commit too many years to mediocre or talentless veterans has not helped the team at all.

    Was there a new pregame opener today, or are they still using the 2005 season/2006 Cactus League opener? I believe it was the same. The last time they changed it, though, came a week or two into the season.

    Williams definitely needs to pitch in at least one of these games to get stretched out for the 15th. Today was a pretty good time for it. Notice how Lee didn't go into a HR trot, Griffey.

    Wow. Now I definitely need to see a replay of this game. It was the clip of Bush visiting the Cubs clubhouse. They were trying to get a shot of Bush shaking someone's hand but zoomed by it to get Jerry.
