  1. Apparently so do Strong and Coats (unless they just didn't have access to the right size batting helmets). And that throw from Piazza was funny.
  2. At least spell "Corey" right. Come on. And I could see Maddux not turning in a paper.
  3. Len: "Just missed" Bob: "No it didn't"
  4. Yeah, it's Williams right now. And Zambrano is going Saturday against the Cardinals with Marshall on Sunday night.
  5. Oh, and the extension is apparently through 2009. He'll be at least 37 in the final year of the deal. That changes things quite a bit, although I don't know how much he pitched in Cuba.
  6. I completely forgot to look at his age. He's 34.
  7. Not sure what to think about the deal. He improved last year because he surprisingly gave up fewer HRs (23 in 2005, 31 in fewer IP in 2004) and had a lower BABIP (.263 in 2005, about .283 in 2004, and .265 in 2003 in 71 IP). Of course, given the market, and his ability to eat some innings, it's not that bad. I'm not too familiar with their pitching prospects, though.
  8. Possibly for Prior, though they haven't been too hesitent to talk about Wood's return (at least Hendry and Baker). But it does seem just too soon to tell with Prior, especially after only a couple of throwing sessions. There's an interest quote from Rothschild on Cubs.com about Prior: Not sure how that works, but it would be great if he didn't lose much arm strength. As for Wood:
  9. And he makes the 3rd player to wear a heat under his helmet for the Cubs tonight.
  10. Boo! http://mlb.mlb.com/images/2005/10/12/u3Myyqfy.jpg I'm still trying to figure out the gymnastics one.
  11. http://us.news2.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/ap/20060401/capt.nvib10104010348.cubs_padres_spring_baseball_nvib101.jpg
  12. The classic ST video on Len and Bob's blog is well worth watching.
  13. I saw that go off the bat and looked away to do something else assuming it was going to be caught.
  14. Haha. Darren comes up to Marhall's knees.
  15. You need a lot of things offensively, Jim.
  16. Well, he got a favor on that 1-0 pitch.
  17. 3 straight walks. I'm going to savor this moment.
  18. Foot meet mouth  Gotta try to get back to 50% sometime. It still didn't look like he had a great jump, though.
  19. Pierre nearly added a pickoff to his basepath success.
  20. According to Len, Kerry threw a 2-inning, 25 pitch simulated game today.
  21. Wouldn't etch-a-sketches get erased on the plane rides? Wood faced hitters. Nice.
  22. Something tells me the Cubs' scouting reports are written in crayon, based on the way Dusty approaches opposing hitters and pitchers... Mr. Sketch markers are more fun. And everyone please cool it.
