  1. Pope is supposed to play regardless, I believe. If those cheese heads were French fans, I'm really rooting against them.
  2. The tractor race and whatever else they do is easily ignorable on the small board right now. On a large jumbotron, you can't really escape either the video nor the blaring audio.
  3. Come on. This will give managers a whole new opportunity to break something in the dugout. How long until the first handset gets chucked at an ump?
  4. Sounds interesting. Wouldn't have expected the Cubs to be the first.
  5. Haha. I sure hope that was intentional.
  6. Advertisements raise revenue. More revenue means more payroll (in a perfect world) or perhaps lower ticket prices. Well, I doubt there would be a significant difference in revenue from the board they already have below the scoreboard unless they really pack in the ads. It would probably just make the ads bigger and change them from just a logo with the occasional animation to nothing but video ads and animation.
  7. Haha. I think Greibal Cuevas-Novas was my favorite pick of the draft based on height (6'9'' 255). Too bad he doesn't have a great fastball.
  8. And considering they're both younger than me, I hope they stay in Peoria for the rest of the season. By the way, Cash was released.
  9. Congrats! I hope he can join the Jaxx sooner rather than later with the weather down there.
  10. Blow your whistle
  11. I saw that and just laughed. Why on earth would anyone want a video board? They're used for three things: 1) advertisements, 2) sponsored contests/advertisements, and stationary pictures of players during their ABs. They're the most pointless part of the scoreboard.
  12. That's a push!!
  13. Yeah, it doesn't look like there's any chance to get in the games today or tomorrow.
  14. This is embarrassing.
  15. ARGH They're starting to come around, at least.
  16. Terrible start...
  17. Japan's only goal should have been waived off -- the Aussie keeper was pushed in the box by a Japanese player allowing a floater to fall behind him and into the net. EDIT: 3-1. When it rains... Ah, thanks.
  18. Wow. What a collapse by Japan.
  19. What a shot! Since I just woke up, what happened earlier?
  20. What a mistake. And yeah, I think Japan just got screwed there.
  21. I'm not aware of a site that keeps track of bunt singles, but considering his walk to strikeout ratio is nearly twice as good as what it was in 2003 and is walking at a career best rate, has the same AB/HR rate as he had in 2003, and is slugging .461, probably not that significant.
  22. Best World Cup picture yet: http://www.chicagotribune.com/media/photo/2006-06/23849046.jpg
  23. In regards to 2003/2004 and 2005, if Clines is to blame for screwing Patterson up in 2005, then is the reason for his success in 2003 and to a lesser extent 2004 attributed to his work with Gary Matthews? I believe he has primarily worked with Clines since Dusty arrived. Of course, it was also certainly tied to Hendry and his love for the Pierre prototype. Well, then it seems like he did a pretty damn good job coaching him in 2003 and 2004 because he made a really huge jump in productivity. And then they did such a terrible job trying to make him Juan Pierre that they felt the hope was gone and needed to dump him.
