  1. New England beat Columbus 1-0 yesterday, clinching the #2 seed in the east. Game 1 will be next Sunday at noon on ABC. Game 2 will be the following Saturday night. The Fire close out the season against DC United today at 4 on ESPN2. Watch.
  2. Which is better, an injured player going out onto the field to swing his crutches at Miami players or bike cops being called in...with their bikes?
  3. How often does the wild card team have a better record and come from a stronger division than one of the division winners, though? There's no reason to put them at a further disadvantage. Not having home field advantage for either of the first two rounds is enough. There's also no reason to give the division winner that plays the wild card team that kind of advantage. It certainly wouldn't be fair to a division winner with a better record than the one playing the wild card team but who can't play the wild card team because they're coming out of the same division.
  4. In my opinion, he's actually a pretty good head ref. The first time I remember seeing him, it was before a game and he was walking by the student section with the other officials. The resemblance is uncanny.
  5. It's a shame they didn't can him after his comments regarding Shawn Green. Of course, it's also a shame they hired him in the first place.
  6. Wow Indiana. Northwestern gets a big moral victory for actually not getting outplayed in one phase of the game (special teams). Also, they only gave up 510 yards. They had given up nearly 320 through the first half. What the heck was up with a flea flicker with 6 minutes to go? Talk about unnecessary. Of course, it gave Bacher a little time to get in there. Fitz may finally be ready to admit that Brewer isn't the answer. And I was surprised that Sutton got 10 carries despite being out most of the first half. The long run he did break was pretty impressive. Quite a few broken tackles. And Georgia really needs to fall out of the top 25. It's amazing that they were in there for so long despite being so mediocre.
  7. Clark is off the injury report and will start, but Ogunleye, Bradley, and Joe did not practice and are all questionable.
  8. 5 freakin' points last weekend. Not only did I have the 49ers and Titans, but Neil Rackers cost me 170 points.
  9. Yeah, I heard Izturis was at home napping the entire time.
  10. I'm not sure the words "have to see" have ever been associated with Baseball Tonight.
  11. Well that would explain that. And ouch.
  12. 25 per day... that's a tall order. It's closer to 5-10 nowadays. Nothing like Raisin's 100+.
  13. Ugh. No Champions League action on TV (only ESPN Deportes) today or tomorrow. Apparently ESPN feels a need to show college cheerleading and dance team competitions on ESPN2 instead.
  14. Wallace's first FT was an airball. He got nothing but net on the second, though.
  15. Hey, if you would have read my post from yesterday, you would've seen Chris Harris injured his quad. Just goes to show you that everyone needs to read my posts more carefully.
  16. what about the orioles pitcher who died from ephedra? Yeah, I forgot about Bechler. I knew I was forgetting someone.
  17. Was Kile the last active player in MLB to pass away?
  18. Here's the Bulls preseason schedule with TV info: Wed 11 Washington Preseason 7:30pm CSN-Chicago -- Sun 15 Seattle Preseason Allen Fieldhouse, Lawrence, KS Allen Fieldhouse, Lawrence, KS 1:00pm WGN -- Mon 16 @ Memphis Preseason 7:00pm -- -- Thu 19 @ San Antonio Preseason 7:00pm CSN-Chicago -- Fri 20 Minnesota Preseason 7:30pm -- -- Tue 24 Memphis Preseason 7:30pm CSN-Chicago -- Wed 25 @ Minnesota Preseason 7:00pm CSN-Chicago -- Fri 27 Toronto Preseason 7:30pm CSN-Chicago -- I don't believe that the WGN game is on the superstation. 19. Harris is officially listed as out for Monday night with an injured quad.
  20. I edited the title since it has been confirmed. The death of any young spouse and parent is tragic and this is certainly no exception.
  21. Ebay will probably have to be my route as well. I'm hoping for tickets to the 12/30 Cavs game or the 1/6 Pistons game, but my friend wants to see Adam Morrison for some reason so we might end up at that Bobcats game too. Stubhub has a bunch already, but not really any cheaper than $30 per ticket.
  22. Points to the good decisions of concentrating on DBs in the draft. And that whole just watch Clark become a legitimate threat at TE thing.
  23. Well poop. Brewer gets another start. And Thiry is out, although maybe that means we'll be spared two false starts on Saturday. 0-3, here we come. And I was going to predict a Northwestern victory if Bacher got the start. Not only would that give Purdue nothing to study on film, but a pocket passer would also actually give Sutton and Jordan something to do. And Purdue's defense would be the best time to put a non-mobile QB back behind this crummy offensive line. At least Jordan Mabin committed yesteday. He was down to Northwestern and Pitt. He should be a big addition for the secondary. And this after Sorenson decommitted for Wisconsin late last week. Sounds like he didn't get an offer from them until very recently and that was his favorite school. Still have his fellow linebacker and teammate Bryce McNaul, though.
  24. Let's hope that Manning Jr. isn't suspended. There's not a lot of depth in the secondary with Harris out. Regarding the secondary, I have a feeling that its (lack of) depth won't tip the scales for the AZ game, and there's a bye-week after that, so as long as Harris is better in three weeks, it should be okay. Right, but if the NFL hires Bob Watson to hand out the suspension, he'll wait until the worst possible time to do it and give Manning Jr. 6 games. Hopefully Johnson and Worrell stay healthy on special teams.
